Melodyne essential from Celemony is pitch/time shifting software for use with monophonic material, and is the most affordable way to access the features of Melodyne. The software is perfect for correcting intonation and timing via a macro or by hand. Transpose, move or erase notes and copy individual notes or entire passages to different locations.

The software operates directly within your audio workstation. You hear all edits in the context of the other tracks in your project and you can use as many instances as you wish, limited only by your computer's CPU. The software functions cross platform under Mac OS X or Windows, and as a plug-in utilizing Audio Units, RTAS or VST formats. It can also function standalone for those occasions where booting a DAW is not required.

Basic Features
  • Single-track audio editing software with Melodyne technology
  • Suitable for monophonic and rhythmic/complex audio material
  • Works as a plug-in (VST, Audio Units, RTAS) in compatible DAWs under Mac OS X and Windows
  • supports 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems
  • Can also be used in standalone mode
  • Activation available on up to 2 computers
  • User interface and manual in English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese
Applications
  • Manual or automatic correction of intonation and timing errors
  • Refashioning of melodies, timing and rhythm
  • Transposition, including adjustment to scale
  • Pitch shifting and time stretching
  • (Re-)quantization
Monophonic Material
  • In the case of monophonic audio material (solo voice, saxophone, bass guitar, etc.) the following edits are possible:

    2. Modifying the position of notes
    3. Modifying the length of notes
    4. Timing (re-)quantization via macro
    5. Pitch quantization via macro
    6. Cut, copy and paste

Comments about Celemony Melodyne essential - Monophonic Pitch Shifting/Time Stretching Software:

I'm still getting the hang of this, but in the first minutes using this (upgraded to EDITOR - polyphonic) I've moved a live harpsichord bass note a full 1/2 step with NO artifacts, and helped some extra ambitious vibrato into a more calm existence. Looking forward to a new vocal album edited with Melodyne.
I think the learning curve will not bee too bad (I hope). This does so many things that were a total daydream years ago.

Comments about Celemony Melodyne essential - Monophonic Pitch Shifting/Time Stretching Software:

It was exactly what I was looking for. It works great for fine tuning vocals, or if you are daring tuning drums to match the song. It is a must buy for the price. When its used properly you can't even tell its there.

Comments about Celemony Melodyne essential - Monophonic Pitch Shifting/Time Stretching Software:

The product works as prescribed in the demo videos and for correcting pitch, it's by far the easiest product I've ever used that doesn't manipulate the wave file or degrade the quality.
The only draw back is functionality, in using it I've realized I need the EDITOR version to get all the functionality I need to truly correct bass parts, vocal parts.
I own Waves Tune, Roland V-Vocal and this product outperforms both in terms of ease of use and quality. It also can be tuned to an A432 which the other 2 products can't. So I would recommend this product to anyone that is need of fixing vocals or bass parts. The only draw back is integration with my version of DAW, I have to upgrade to give me the integrated functions I seek.

              Basically an expensive demo.

Comments about Celemony Melodyne essential - Monophonic Pitch Shifting/Time Stretching Software:

I paid for studio time which had the full version of this software so I knew what it could do and how to use it. I understood that the "essentials" version had a reduced feature set but I had a difficult time finding the list of features stacked side-by-side with the full version, nor could I find any walk-through videos of this version on youtube or community sites.

Sadly, this version only does pitch correction, not modulation correction. When it automatically corrects voice, sometimes it puts a strange digital artifact on the signal, which can normally be corrected by adjusting the modulation - but that's not available in this version. Also, it only does one track at a time in a project, forcing me to render to a stub or "bounce" every time I want to iterate, which is a pretty big pain.

Ultimately I rate this with 2 stars because in spite of the power of this software, the description of features in this version isn't very clear and the package is only marginally useful.

If you only want to do pitch correction and you don't mind sounding like a robot, this software is for you.

The full version is awesome and worth buying. I suggest that any serious producer should avoid this expensive demo and save up for the full version.

For basic pitch & time editing Essential works great!! I upgraded to the Melodyne Assistant for even more tools. Tried the others, Melodyne is top of the line regardless of the hype from the other brands. The realistic audio quality is what makes it better everything else.
