I must admit, I was very enthusiastic about ordering my Azden Wireless system for my video shoots. Being a small business, I tried to save money and saw that the Azden was in my price range.I read mixed reviews about it at quite a few sites, and B&H was in the same ball park price wise, so I called them with every intention on sounding like I knew exactly what I wanted, and was about to order the Azden, when I decided to humble myself, and ask for some advice from B&H. A young lady from the audio dept. came on and talked me out of Azden and into the Audio-Technica. THANK YOU, THANK YOU whoever you were. This unit is perfect for my needs, built well and works great. I highly recommend it to anyone with a small budget looking for a wireless system, and I highly recommend the staff at B&H. They know their stuff and they back it up. It was even on sale, which made it even cheaper than the one I originally looked at.

It does what I need it to do, mainly capture audio while I am speaking at the front of a room during a seminar to the video camera in the back of the room. However, as others have already noted, if there is anything in between you and the camera such as a wall or solid object the audio degrades and there is a lot of fuzz in the recording. You must have a clear line of site. The only other issue I have is the fact that they did not include a power adapter with the receiver. What good is having the power jack if they don't provide you with the part?

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR288W VHF TwinMic System:

I have not used this product other than to test it for functionality. Depending on RF interference factors in the area where it is to be used will determine whether or not ths FM-band will be enough or I should move over to a UHF product. Budgetary constraints dictated I get this product. I plan to use it with my DSLR for talking head standups, etc. The two freq channels are a bonus, but if either channel doesn't eliminate RF interferences, then I'm out of luck, so fingers crossed. I can't think of anything bad about this product, Audio Technica has a good reputation for this kind of gear and I've worked professionally with their products for decades and have found them to be of excellent quality.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR288W VHF TwinMic System:

You can't beat this mic system for the price! The sound quality that it picks up is very good. I've used it both indoors, in a conference room setting, as well as outdoors in open pasture. Picked up great sound from both parties in an interview. I'm pleased with the nice, solid clip. I've had others that break off easily. The small receiver is easily clipped onto the camera handle if you don't want to use the mounting tapes.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR288W VHF TwinMic System:

Was looking for something to record my DIY's and conduct interviews for my site. We cover big events with lots of noise to interviews sitting side by side. In both situation (controlled noise and uncontrolled noise) the handheld mic and clip on worked perfectly. I did have to make sure not to pick up static, but with the ear bud attachment to the transmitter, this made it all possible.

Also purchased a mic flag to attached to the mic and it all worked out great.

Overall, great price and sweet gear. Will be purchasing more for dual interviewing as it only comes with one receiver and I want more of an interactive chat then a passing of the mic to talk.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR288W VHF TwinMic System:

This is a pretty good "you get what you pay for" unit. The hand-held mic is so poorly made that it's not even usable. Lots of loose connection sounding noise. The quality of the transmitter and receiver feel good, not great. The lav sounds good with some minor noise. There are only 2 VHF frequencies to choose from so if those don't work you're out of luck. All that said, it's useful if you have a camera that accepts a mini-plug input.

Good system for the price. I used the handheld mic for on camera interviews and got some low popping sounds at regular intervals - perhaps I should have switch to the other frequency.
Not very well made, the lavaliere microphone windscreen was lost the first 20 minutes of use.
                Overall good for the money.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR288W VHF TwinMic System:

We use the wireless mic for video production of teaching and demonstrating courses. The mic is good giving minimal interference, but sometimes when the person with the mic moves, an extra hum comes through the system (thus only 4 stars). More expensive systems without this hum cost several times more than this system.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR288W VHF TwinMic System:

The transmitter and receiver work fine. On the first one I received, the handheld had a terrible crackling when the cable was slightly moved. I returned it and had the same problem with both the lav and handheld on the replacement - not as bad as the first one, but there should be NO crackling when the cables are moved. Are performers not supposed to move?? I am not talking about wiggling the connector or rustling when the mic pickup is rubbed - I am talking about cracking when the cable moves.

I have another AT mic with a better cable and it works great with the transmitter, but the mics that come with this system are garbage.

If you can live with some possible cracking when the mics are used, the system is fine. Or if you have another mic to use with the transmitter it is fine.
You'd have a hard time finding a quality transmitter and receiver for the price. The mic I am using successfully with this system is the Audio-Technica ATR6250.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR288W VHF TwinMic System:

I had really high hopes for this system. With the first one I received, the lav worked perfectly, but there was TERRIBLE crackling anytime the handheld's cable was slightly moved. I exchanged it for second system and there was slight crackling on BOTH mics this time - not as bad as the original handheld, but way more than what I'd consider acceptable.

There really should be no crackling when the cable is moved on a mic. Do they expect that this mic will be completely stationary?? And I am not talking about cracking when you fiddle with the connector. It is crackling when the cable is moved.

I plugged in another handheld with a 3.5mm connector that I own and it sounded perfect. No crackling whatsoever. So I know it's the mics that come with this system causing the problem. The transmitter and receiver seem fine, but AT needs to step up the mic cables on this system. The other mic I plugged in that worked is an AT mic, so I know they can do it.

If you are using this for general 'loud speaker' purposes (like in a classroom or meeting room), it might be acceptable, but if you want clean audio recording, I'd avoid it.

I started using the mic in the field for educational videos of the work I do. Clean recording and no complaints. Hard to beat it for the price. And it comes with and omni-directional lapel mic and a uni-directional dynamic mic. Nice unit. Using it mainly for internet video posts. I doubt I would even consider it for professional recording but for me it is great.

We produce TV programs with this equipments.

                      Classy looking, compact and cheap.

                      Hanger is weak.

Bought this system to use for filming golf Instructional videos. The system works great and there is absolutely no feedback or background noise. Easy to use and has a great range. I would recommend this to all.

As Realtors we wanted this to make video of real estate easy and wireless. There is intermittent static. Very affordable but not quick and easy. At least there is a monitor so you know if there is static or not.
