The Genustech 67mm Neutral Density Fader Filter is a solid variable neutral density filter providing an exposure reduction of approximately 2 to 8 stops. The 0.6 to 2.4 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, allowing you to previsualize the additional exposure length required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

The filter is constructed from optical glass for high image quality and features an aluminum filter ring for rigidity and to prevent filter jamming. For easier, repeatable control over density settings, a small handle is available for easier manipulation of the values and the front ring is also visually demarcated with dots that represent different density values. The front 77mm female threads of the filter are two standard sizes larger than the rear 67mm male threads to help minimize vignetting.

Variable neutral density filter allows you to dial in differing amounts of density scene to scene.
0.6 to 2.4 ND filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a reduction of 2 to 8 stops, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
Filter does not affect coloration of the image.
Optical glass construction maintains high image quality and aluminum filter ring works to prevent filter jamming.

Comments about Genustech 67mm Neutral Density Fader Filter:

I use the Genus ND filter on my Leries Canon 70-300 mm 4.5 ism lens. And it is a must have when working with my Canon 5d Mark iii. The speed and ease you gain with changing the aperture is very similar to using an ENG style lens iris function. Definately a game changer.

Comments about Genustech 67mm Neutral Density Fader Filter:

I use the Genus Fader anytime I'm outdoors with my Sony NEX-EA50, which does not have built-in ND filters. I've not noticed any color cast or loss of detail. Very happy with the quality!

Comments about Genustech 67mm Neutral Density Fader Filter:

I use this ND filter on my NEX-FS100 camera and it provides a decent solution to the lack of built-in ND filters on that camera. Having the super 35mm sensor on the camera; it takes in a lot of light, and it makes having this extremely necessary for bright outdoor shooting.

Now as I say in the title this is a good way to go for a first ND filter as it gets the job done decently and still provides a very nice image when shooting. I will however say that as you begin to put more glass in front of your lens; you will start to degrade you image quality, and if you are shooting a high end production you will probably be better off going with a matte box and some high quality filter inserts; or at least with a higher grade Heliopan ND filter.

Furthermore this ND filter does not have any form of stops at each end of its filter spectrum and it can be completely rotated either way. This is really a personal preference, but I would prefer some kind of stop at each end.

Comments about Genustech 67mm Neutral Density Fader Filter:

I recently attended a photo class where a classmate recommended this filter for creating movement/blur at very slow shutter speeds in bright light. I found this filter to be perfect for this purpose.
