I've got a nikon version to use with D7000. So far I am very happy with the purchase. People have complained about bad manual and weak explanation in the manual, but it is quite easy to use and getting this to work is not so hard.

It is a good alternative to SB900 which is twice as much. =)

Certainly not bad for the price as compared to Nikon SB900 and 910. It's a decent flash for the money, absolutely. I would recommend it for a non-pro to use for everyday shots, they will save a ton of money. I bought it as a remote flash since it's supposed to work with Nikon CLS remote flash system. I also bought it in case my SB900 overheated, I could quickly slap this on and keep shooting. The buttons are ok, but some are printed in red ink and others in white. The white is easy to read, the red is very hard to read in medium to low light, not a good color choice. There are few enough that you can memorize them, but I don't think the user should have to. The real reason I returned this unit is I found the set up for using as a Nikon CLS system remote was confusing. It used different numbers and letters than the Nikon camera uses and even reading the menu didn't help me clearly understand how to set it up. That said, I did get it to work, but in a quick paced shooting situation, I need my stuff to be quick to set up and implement.

Comments about Sigma EF610 DG Super Flash for Nikon DSLR Cameras:

Seems well made, but the sensor on the TTL is not good at all. Even with exposure compensation to (-3) on the flash and (-4) on my camera, the pictures were blown out. The first one I got also did not adjust for my focal length. Returned and tried a second one, which worked in this aspect, but if its going to blow out my images, it isn't usable for me. Too bad because is was a great price and I love my Sigma Lenses!

I read a review where someone had problems with the battery door and guess what I did too. It came off the first time I opened it. No Problem, Angle it in and it will close. Optically and electronically it is stellar. Recharges fast and works well with my Nikon D5200 TTL.

I don't use a flash very often. I try to use available light whenever possible. I ALWAYS bounce the flash and use a diffuser if I am going to use a flash. This flash is powerful and works well with my D3. It does what I need it to do.

Using the user guide provided along with internet research, I could not get it to function as a wireless slave flash to an SB-800.

I got this flash for my D7000.

PROS: It has the power it advertises and handles FP flash. It has a nice quasi-rubber/plastic body, the head rotates, and recycles quicker than advertised when using rechargeable AA batteries...

CONS: I could not, however, get this flash to work off-camera in commander mode. Also, the controls are counter-intuitive and do not work well in low-light... The focus is noisy and the plastic hot-shoe is, as other reviewers have pointed out, of questionable durability...

So, I concluded the monetary savings were outweighed by the lack of features and returned the flash and bought a more expensive unit...

Comments about Sigma EF610 DG Super Flash for Nikon DSLR Cameras:

Don't use a flash often for my wildlife photography. But, wanted a really good one for the few times I might use one without paying the fortune Nikon want's for thier top models! (Don't get me wrong: I do have a complete Nikon R1C1 flash system for my macro/micro work that is great! And expensive. But all really good macro/micro flash systems are expensive!) So far this Sigma flash seems to be a great value for what you get! The only improvement I'd like to see is a metal mounting base/foot to make it sturdier, and give me more confidence in it's stability and longevity without wearing out or cracking.

Comments about Sigma EF610 DG Super Flash for Nikon DSLR Cameras:

Product was exactly as described, worked well. I use this product as a secondary flash in conjunction with my Speedlight. Works great! I would definitely reccomend this flash.

Comments about Sigma EF610 DG Super Flash for Nikon DSLR Cameras:

I don't use a strobe much, but I want a good strong one for those occasional needs. With specs as good or better than the Nikon SB-900, and a price point less than half the other unit, I was skeptical, but this product delivers everything it promised, with no compromise I can find.

Maybe I got a different manual from some other reviewers, the one I have is quite satisfactory.

Wildlife (with Better Beamer attachment), some Master/Slave applications.

Works great on my Nikons. In the hotshoe, on cable or wireless TTL hits the spot. Highspeed sync and all other features work as advertised.
Wireless CLS works great (using two Sigmas controlled by the on board flash as master, or one Sigma as master one as slave).

"Drawback", if you want to call it that, is the missing option to connect the flash to an external power source. Would be nice, but so far I have not missed it.
