I was initially told that the Tri-Shoe Adapter would work with Nikon's SB-800 flash, but not with the SB-900 as the latter's shoe was too big. When it arrived, I fitted both of my SB-900s (and an SB-800) in each of the three shoes and found that they fit perfectly. The locking pins fit into the hole provided in the shoes and keep the flashes securely mounted. This adapter also fits my LumoPro 120s and another off-brand manual flash with no problem by using the flashes' screw-down collars.

Compared to some of the other options, this adapter is a tremendous value!

About a year ago I bought two of these and loved the functionality for the price. They worked so well I bought two more. The problem is that the metal shoe of your flash combined with the leveraged weight is no competition for the plastic footing and two of my four mounts have now broken under normal use conditions. The first time I caught my flash as I was walking with the light stand. The second time, while re-situating the stand during a shoot, my flash and PW fell six feet to a hard floor knocking off pieces and ejecting the batteries (fortunately flash and PW are still functioning).

Also, when using a PW Flex, and/or SB800s with the fifth battery compartment, there is not enough clearance to mount three flashes. This was not a deal breaker for me as I'm usually using one flash at a time and you're still able to mount two when more pop/faster recycle is needed.

That said I'd still give it four stars were it not for them being too fragile to trust with expensive gear.

Comments about Interfit Tri Shoe Adapter:

I was so happy with this while it worked. All of my Nikon flashes fit so smooth and snug at the same time.

Mine broke when a sudden gust (not that strong) of wind tipped my lightstand with the Trie Shoe Adapter fitted inside a Westcott Apollo to the ground. All was well, except the adapter. The solid block that this adapter is made of is actually plastic. The thin blades that make up the catches for the flash units broke off on two of the three cold shoes.

The product felt so solid, I did not even realize it's made of plastic, until it broke.

I've since replaced this with a Lastolite tri shoe bracket, which is much bigger and pricier, but solid.

Comments about Interfit Tri Shoe Adapter:

I picked this up, as I wanted to be able to use two speedlights in my umbrella for a shoot in the early evening, and this seemed like a good choice. It's well made, seems solid (although still plastic), and held my speedlights well once locked into place. The one problem, although minor, is that the metal (brass?) stud has one side that is flat, which is so it can be tightened against in an umbrella holder or whatever. The problem is is that it doesn't work that way for all mounts that aren't the Interfit brand. Using an Impact brand umbrella mount, it does not line up with the flat side when tightening down on, and if you turn it so that it does line up, your speedlights are not how you want them to be. While some might consider this minor, it does impact it's usability, forcing your lights to be at 12, 9, and 6 o'clock, as opposed to 9, 12, and 3 o'clock.

This is a great adapter for the cost..compared to the others. I love that it has a slide lock design compared to the metal shoe designs that don't lock down well. The only con I have that because I used it so much, one of the slots broke thus the 4 stars. Though secure, it will break easily if you are hard on it, luckily I had 2 other slots so it was an easy fix. I would love to see a sturdier version of this.

Comments about Interfit Tri Shoe Adapter:

I'm generally very pleased with this adapter. It is very compact and solid. And you can't beat the price. As another reviewer mentioned, you will not be able to mount a flash to one of the side mounts when using it on top of a Manfrotto Swivel Umbrella Adapter unless you first screw on an additional spigot to gain enough height to clear the handles on the swivel adapter. Not a big deal in my mind but something you should know in case you want to use this combo.

One other point to mention is that you absolutely will not be able to secure any device in these cold shoes that does not have it's own locking mechanism with a locking pin. There is no spring mechanism like is commonly found on a camera hot shoe to provide even a minimal friction fit. I can securely mount all my Canon and 3rd party flashes with a slightly wiggly yet secure fit. The wiggle comes from the somewhat oversize hole for the locking pin and the rather generous dimensions of the foot opening itself. In a perfect world the flash would not move at all after locking it down fully, but I want to be clear though that despite the wiggle the flash units are not going anywhere until you release the locking pin from the hole in the mount.

All in all I'm glad I bought it and would recommend the product.

I use it with my Creative Light 41 "Umbrella / Softbox and Manfrotto 026 and I have a slight packing a light source plentiful with all the power necessary for long seciones editorial portraits

Comments about Interfit Tri Shoe Adapter:

I really don't see any reason to buy a different shoe adapter. Period. This one is made of metal and is solid. It is also cheaper than most of the single shoe adapters. I really hope this sticks around. Even if you only need one shoe, get this, it is SOLID. I only gave it 4 stars because the adapter on the bottom doesn't seem to come off. Maybe that's not necessary, but I thought it was weird. This really isn't an issue though, it will recieve a 3/8's thread on the bottom and obviously fits any standard 5/8 adapters.

I prefer this because most of the shoe mount have some sort of sliding mechanism to fit different size shoes. These always come loose on me and I'm always afraid a flash will fall off. I highly recommend this shoe mount because it is solid and the relies on the flash's mounts to tighten on it. In my opinion this leaves less of a chance of the flash coming loose.

I use this with the Manfrotto 026 Swivel Umbrella Adapter. Which is the best one hands down. It will work fine with a flash on the top. If you use the sides though, you may need extra height for the side mounted flashes to clear the swivel adapter's adjustment screws/knobs. I simply screwed the 5/8 adapters that came with the Manfrotto together in a way that allowed me to screw the Tri Shoe Adapter into those and gain the additional clearance needed.

Much less expensive than other multi flash brackets you will find on the internet. It holds 3 flashes without problem. There are no shoe locks on the bracket itself (as can be seen by the picture) but that's not really an issue, just a reminder. I put 2 flashes on the outside mounts, set in slave mode, and one flash with wireless receiver on the the top bracket. Allows you to get much faster recycle times and/or much brighter output depending on what you're aiming for. I do use this with 2 instead of three flashes as well, especially so I can set both in a softbox and not worry about how much light the box eats.
Definitely recommend this little helpful tool to any strobist!

This item is just what I have been looking for. It's size is perfect so you can keep a small footprint in an umbrella setting. It keeps the flash group tighter and is less cumbersome. The build is solid and it was more sturdy than I expected. I do wish it had some type of locking device for items placed on it. I use Pocket Wizard TT5's with it. So I end up using the thumb screw wheels on the wizards to ensure they stay in place. Oh by the way you can use three full size Canon flashes with three TT5's and they all fit on this unit. Just barely!!! It is simple, well built and works perfectly.

This is a very well made adapter. I bought it to use with three Nikon SB800 flash heads, the only complaint that I have is that you must remove your extra batteries (5th battery). Other than that it is perfect. Great product.
