I am recording a solo vocal hymns and praises for church and I have tried the AKG 220 Perception and the AKG C414 B-XLS and I've never been happy with the results. The C414 is much better mic than the 220 P but when I bought the Blue Spark Mic, I realized how great is this company. The sound is rich, detailed and warm, and it handles the strong vocals that even the C414 couldn't handle! The mic comes in a very elegant wooden case along with a great pop filter, shock mount and a manual that helps you using it. You won't regret buying that mic. It performs better than a $ mic as long as you know how to pair it with the right audio interface and know how to set up the mic gain. I use it with GarageBand and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and I'm getting the professional results I have been seeking.

First mic had weak side mesh on mic head, bent in factory. Second mic has poor ground/hum issue, was traced back to the mic. So two bought and returned. Quality was poor. Bad batch? Maybe. Buying a 3rd? Heck no. B&H was solid on the returns. Not worth the $200.

I own a semi pro studio and have used a lot of condenser mics in this price range. The Blue Spark beats them all. A great vocal mic, the Spark adds a rich warm sound that can be tailored using the focus control, to suit a varity of recording needs.

Pros 1. Price ONLY [$]2. Sound one of the BEST Quality out of all the condenser under $10003. Design Attractive design [...]Cons1. Shockmount (there are 2kinds of shockmounts. my first one had better shockmount than the other two I ordered later) later ones doesn't mount well.2. Pop Screen ( it looks pretty cool but doesn't work well) Just use your regular pop screen..

Comments about Blue Spark Solid-State Condenser Microphone:

Sound quality is pretty good. Surprised me at this price point. I liked them the best on overheads so I bought another one. Worked great as a close room mic. Sounded great on acoustic and background vocals. Didn't like it on lead vocals as it was too sibilant on three different singers I tried it on. Sounds great running through my ADL 600 pre.

One big con was the pop filter seem to be pretty useless and the shockmount is pretty bad. It works, but I suggest buying a different one.

Comments about Blue Spark Solid-State Condenser Microphone:

I am pleasantly surprised by this little guy. The sound quality is nice and rich (at least on female vocals which is all I've used it for so far). I will say there is a design flaw in it. I did the same thing as Santosdr mentioned in his review: "at one point i thought i was unscrewing it from the shockmount and the mic itself fell apart." so watch out for that. but I mean hey, its [$].

So far i've recorded male singers and a couple females and find that it has worked equally well on both. The sound quality is good but the mic itself is a little flimsy, at one point i thought i was unscrewing it from the shockmount and the mic itself fell apart.
