It delivers exceptional color saturation and features fine grain and a high degree of sharpness. With this updated version of Portra, highlight and shadow detail are no problem and, as a result of its excellent T-Grain structure, making large prints is not a problem.

I use this film for landscape and portraits. It's incredibly versatile and the color rendition is always spectacular. Images shot with this film have a subtle nuance and nostalgic quality to them. This film however does have noticeable grain in certain circumstances, so if grain is an issue I would recommend the 160 portra film instead of this. But all in all this is a great all around film and I use it almost exclusively for color photography applications

I took 20 rolls of this stuff with me to Hawaii. Normally, I would have gone with NC to do some washed out landscape work, just to do something other then the really poppy, colorful Ken Rockwell photos of the sunrise/sets on Astia. No offense Ken. So, I was going to go 400nc all day, when this "new" portra showed up on B&H. Lured like a total chump by this flashy new product, I opted to try this out instead. The stuff is good, I like it. No complaints, good contrast, blah blah blah. But I cant help but wonder if this new portra- which blends the best traits of NC and VC in one handy film, is here to replace my long time former friends. Kodak? What is going on. Are you outting the NC/VC combination? Film is a niche market- capitalize, not marginalize it. My suspicion is that this new portra will further widdle down our 120 film options leaving us with less options then a non alcoholic beer drinker. Protest this "new" film. Take a stand fellow film photographers. Continue to fight the good fight! Don't take a brain bath.

Comments about Kodak 120 Professional Portra 400 Color Negative Film (One Roll):

The film was delivered quickly, and seems to be just about everything you'd expect from portra. I've had some color shift but I think that's more my cameral than anything else.

Comments about Kodak 120 Professional Portra 400 Color Negative Film (One Roll):

This is pretty much the only film that I use- although I sometimes go with 160 speed, depending what I'm working on. I was a little concerned a few years back when Kodak announced they were discontinuing Portra NC and VC because I was a huge fan of the NC. Fortunately, this stock is very close to the NC. It's great product and any issues I've ever had have been user error.

B&H typically has the best price on Portra, especially now that they do free shipping over $. I scan and c-print from this film, and it does great. I hope Kodak continues to produce Portra for many years to come.

Exposure is the only thing you don-t have to worry about with this film (ok, almost) you can overexpose by 3-4 stops and underexpose for 2 stops and develop normally, and that is a great thing!
Super fine grain and pushability are also a plus.

Comments about Kodak 120 Professional Portra 400 Color Negative Film (One Roll):

This is a review dedicated to amateurs. This is my general on the GO film. I use it after 3-4p.m This film is fast. I use it for every thing. However, I find it more versatile for people. It is rendering of skin tones is superb. Higher ISO allows to catch children or people in action. I use it in conduction with a Gossen Pro F meter. It is accurate. The prints are excellent. I can write many praises to this film. You are as a photographer have to choose your own. For my needs, which are: Landscape, macro, people, automobiles, street it works well, and I highly recommend it.

What can I say as a photographer I love Portra 400 in 135; so when I use Portra 400 in 120 it's like taking up by a multiple of ten; the color is gorgeous and the emulsion renders sharp -- it's Medium Format after all.

I use it to shoot portraits, like it much better than 160 because of its wider use in different lights. I like to shoot it at 200 to over expose, and it looks great. Love to use it in my Rz67
