I bought the Small Tenba Messenger about a year ago, and absolutely loved it. It was the best bag I had ever carried, and I mean actually carried everywhere, every day. I am an urban shooter and walk a lot, and that bag was comfortable and inconspicuous. I recently bought the Mini because the Small was slightly larger than I need most of the time, and because the insert was losing its shape (which made getting cameras in and out a little more difficult). The minimal spacers in this new Mini bag looked like a better solution for my purposes.

I am not disappointed. I can carry the same amount of gear with a slimmer profile, less weight and less wasted space. What can I carry in it comfortably? A medium-format rangefinder (I know, it's film) side-by-side with a pro 35mm SLR, or substitute one camera for a flash and another lens. That leaves the whole top half of the bag for the jacket when it comes off in the afternoon. There's still plenty of room in the pockets for phone, IPod, and more film than I can shoot in a day. All this in a flat bag that I sling to my back to slide smoothly through crowds.

It may not seem like a big deal, but that top zipper is truly great. I can pull my medium format camera, take a shot, and conceal it again as fast as a gunslinger.

By the way, the larger Tenba, temporarily retired until I find another use for it, still looks great after 15 months of daily use. The exterior is dusty, which only makes it more inconspicuous, and the finish on the brass rings has partially worn off, but other than that, it's in great shape. Although it was pretty comfortable right out of the box, I can't wait until my new bag is soft and dusty too.

I love the design of this bag, the Tenba website has a great video on it which is ultimately why I bought the bag. However, I specifically wanted to use the bag for my 10.1 in. netbook and some writing materials, a P&S camera and a book - not a lot of stuff; the mini was just too small.

After putting these items inside, a spiral notebook was nearly too long for the width of the bag, it was a struggle to get in, a small hardcover book and camera (older Sony CyberShot, not slim) overlapped unless I put the book on end. The netbook was loose, side-to-side. Adding a bottle of water was dangerous because I had to lay it on top on its side. Overall it was just cramped.

It wasn't clear whether this bag had a mini pull-out camera insert (it didn't), just the velcro pad dividers. The front zipper pockets (seen in the promo image) are useless and, ultimately the reason I returned the bag, because they are deep but very narrow. I wanted to drop a USB drive in there but there was no way I could get my hand in there to get it out.

If all I was to carry was the netbook, camera or book, a notebook, and throw in my pens, usb drive(s), etc. loose, the bag would have been okay. I had to send this back for a bigger one.

Comments about Photo/Laptop Messenger Bag (Mini, Chocolate Brown):

This product is lightweight and provides adequate shock protection for my camera gear. I easily carried my Nikon d80 with a 24-85 zoom attached and a 70-300 zoom, plus a couple of filters and odds 'n ends. Movable partitions make storage arrangement flexible. The pelican clips on the shoulder strap are of poor quality and have opened accidently several times. I will have to replace them or the strap.

Awesome looking bag almost DESTROYS THE LAWS OF PHYSICS by being bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. Okay, not really but almost. Seriously, as an excursion day pack it's hard to beat. Lots of secure pockets and snug protection for your photo gear. Stylish and comfortable to wear, too.

Comments about Photo/Laptop Messenger Bag (Mini, Chocolate Brown):

I wanted a compact carry-on bag for my vacation. I purchased the Small version first. It was so stylish that my wife wanted me to use it as my everyday messenger bag. the comfortable strap is outstanding because it distributed the weight so well. So I needed another bag totally dedicated to my Fuji XE-1 System I wanted the Mini size, but I wanted to carry my XE-1,35mm, 60mm,and the 18-55mm zoom lens(all with hood installed); in addition to my Experia tablet, with memory and extra batteries. It all fit, but it was a bit tight. Since one clasp wouldn't stay fastened to the bag, I had to get an RMA. I am now waiting for a store credit and I've decided that the Small version is the best size for me to use. Everything (that I want to carry)fits perfectly. And that wonderful strap makes it feel so light. I going to Ft Lauderdale next month and the Small conforms to carry-on specs - with space for wallet, tickets, etc. So this turns out to be a recommendation for the Small version of the Tenba!! Except for size, they are almost identical. The perfect size is one that holds what YOU want to carry! I think that reviews that report intended and actual usage are most helpful. I hope that this benefits someone.

I am incredibly impressed by the design and build quality of this bag. Easily fits 13" laptop and a DSLR with a lens plus two more lenses. Extra pockets. It has a zipper on top that allows you to reach into the bag without unsnapping the closures and pulling back the top cover. Great padding and quality stitching. Comfortable thick shoulder pad. They have other sizes but I chose the mini and could not be happier.

Comments about Photo/Laptop Messenger Bag (Mini, Burnt Orange):

About 25 years ago I bought one of the first Tenba Messenger Bags. It was made of Cordura. had tons of space, expanding with a zipper to the size of a small suitcase, and it had removable modules for photo gear. I carried it all over the world and it served me well. This new generation "mini" is a worthy successor: it's just as well made, of Cordura still, and even though it's the smallest of the three sizes now available, it has much more room than I need for a Macbook Pro, a Sony NEX-7 and extra lens, batteries, and charger. There are more pockets than in the original and there are some nice evolutionary features (eg, access to the main compartment without actually opening the bag.) I expect to be happy with this one for years to come. Highly recommended!

I use this product for daily shooting with an Olympus OMD-EM5 kit which includes one body, three lenses,, flash, battery grip, extra batteries and assorted bits and pieces. The bag is comfortable to carry, the fabric is durable and stands up to being used regularly and there are lots of pockets for gadgets and business cards and stuff. It's tall and most of the stuff sits in the bottom so I've figured out how to use it in a two-tiered fashion. I wish the pockets on the front flap were a little more roomy and "silencer" flaps on the velcro would be nice. Overall, I would recommend this bag.

I have purchased dozens of bags over the years and this one is finally one that I will keep. It is perfectly suited for mirrorless cameras. I can carry my flash and light meter. I wish that it had straps for my light weight traveling tripod, but the other features make up for this. The best feature is being able to access the inside from the top without having to open the front flap.

This bag is by no means mini. It holds a 13" laptop, iPad, loads of accessories and 2 Micro 4/3 bodies with 6 small lenses. This is my carry all bag.

Comments about Photo/Laptop Messenger Bag (Mini, Chocolate Brown):

I use this to carry my travel bag for camera gear and a laptop computer. I typically use it for the camera with the most used zoom lens attached, and another extra wide angle lens. Depending on the likely subjects, I sometimes include a small telephoto zoom. The small computer that fits in this bag is great to have for loading and evaluating the pictures as well as general use.

Comments about Photo/Laptop Messenger Bag (Mini, Olive Green):

I do not use this bag for cameras. Although this is primarily sold as a photographic bag, removal of the camera padding leaves you with an excellent day bag.
It is spacious enough to carry what you need when out and about, but is compact and comfortable so it doesn't get in the way.
Build quality is amazing and the zipped top, enabling access to the bag without lifting the flap is a killer feature.
                        Totally recommend.

Comments about Photo/Laptop Messenger Bag (Mini, Black):

I travel a lot. This is my goto bag when space is at a premimum.

I was looking for a bag that would hold almost all my gear but still meet the strict criteria for carry on on small commuter aircraft.

I am amazed what I can fit in this bag
                          I have managed to fit:
                          2 full framd D-SLR bodies
                          4 lenses incuding a 70-200 L
1 Flash and an Absolute panoramic head.
With pleanty of pockets for stashing my pocket wizards and Misc. accessories.

The only negative is that it holds so much stuff that the bag can get very heavy if you have to drag it across a major airport.

Here is what I wanted in a bag. The ability to lay a camera flat with a 70-200 L Class zoom attached to it, plus carry an Ipad. Note, that it will not fit a camera attached to pro zoom vertical in the bag, you have to lay it flat.

Comments about Photo/Laptop Messenger Bag (Mini, Platinum Grey):

Perfectly fits 13" Macbook Pro (Retina or non-) with protective skin. I carry a MBP, two Panasonic Micro Four Thirds cameras with zoom lenses and EVFs mounted, extra batteries, charger, lens cleaning tools, small flash & batteries, portable hard drive. There's room for a couple more lenses. The top zipper provides easy access to the bag's interior without lifting the flap. Padding and construction are robust enough to provide good protection against bumps and drops. A layer of rubber on the bottom of the bag adds dirt-resistance. Nice touch.

As with all bags, I immediately replaced the included strap with a neoprene OpTech Super Classic Strap.

Excellent bag for the Panasonic GH-3 micro four thirds mirror-less SLR. The bag will hold the GH-3 with or without battery grip with lens attached and four to five additional lenses or a flash mixed in there. I wish they would add the silent velcro openers that Think Tank uses. It is a well made bag. It would also be nice if they added a all weather cover and a few more pockets. However, this bag will hold a small laptop or iPad which is nice. Manufactures need to start manufacturing bags with inserts for micro four thirds. Its not so much the shell of the bag as the need for the inserts. It is like having a DSLR with compact lenses.
