- Adapts Canon FD Lens for Use on Canon EOS Camera
The Vello Lens Mount Adapter - Canon FD Lens to Canon EOS Camera allows you to mount a Canon FD lens to a Canon EOS camera body. Besides for making financial sense, this allows you to use your favorite lens across different camera platforms. The lens adapter is designed to fit securely to the lens, yet can still be removed easily when not needed.
This lens adapter acts as a mount adapter and an optical adapter. It features optical-quality glass elements to achieve this. The adapter increases the focal length by 1.25x and reduces the lens aperture by 1 f/stop.
Note! Although the lens will fit physically, autofocus, automatic diaphragm (AE metering), and other functions dependent on communication between camera body and lens will be disrupted by the lens adapter. You will need to focus manually, and to set exposures manually or meter in aperture priority (stop-down) mode. If the lens does not have a manual aperture collar, the aperture will be stopped down to its smallest f/stop. Focusing to infinity is retained.

I bought this to adapt my FD series 300mm L lens to my new EOS 60D camera. It actually works better than I expected. It's not the easiest to mount on either the lens or the camera, but it is secure once mounted. I'm surprised at the quality. It's much better than I expected. It may not be as good as a Canon L series without the adapter, but overall, it's pretty good and pretty darned sharp. For the money you can't go wrong.

I bought an old canon camera with a good FD lens for stills, but I never use it as such. So i got the adapter to put on my t3i so i could use this lens for video. It was a 50mm lens but it got turned into an 85mm due to the nature of the adapter. It's very useful, the only problem is that this adapter doesn't do autofocus, whereas some adpaters can.

Using this adapter I am now able to renew the love for my past Canon FD lens on my Canon 7D. I now have a "new" 600MM lens for my existing system. Easy to install and by setting the aperture at the widest opening, the camera can determine the speed and ISO to get great shots. I am used to setting the focus manually so this is not a detractor from this adaper. Very easy to use! Telling all my friends with Canon FD lens about this adapter.

This is a great little tool to allow me to use my FD lenses from my canon film camera. No complaints, works as described. The only issue I have is the "lock" ring is easy to move around which does affect the focus and light reading when it is not firmly set in the lock position.

I had some trouble getting several of my lenses to attach to this convertor. it fits on my 5d just fine, its just the FD lenses that have the outer ring that turns to attach to the camera that have trouble getting attached to the adapter. The FD lenses that have the lock button don't have too much of a problem getting on to the thing. Please take these things into consideration before purchasing this product. Aside from that, only my 500mm reflex lens shows a real issue with the cropping and what not.

I use this for shooting both stills and video, and was a great addition to my arsenal to allow me to use the countless dollars I had invested in older FD lenses. The aperture ring works and there is no play between the body and the adapter. There is a loss in IQ, but that is to be expected when introducing the glass element in the equation. It is definitely not a replacement for purchasing new lenses, but is a fun little tool that is inexpensive. If you are looking for something to allow you to use FD lenses on the EOS mount, this is a great value.

I bought some older lens at an auction and wanted to be able to use them. It was easy to mount and dismount and I will be having fun seeing what an older lens can do. Losing an fstop is sad but workable and I have found that it is pretty easy to adjust shutter speed to fstop my biggest problem is trying to get a clear focus. I don't know if it is the adapter or the older lens

I was excited to get this so I could mount my dad's old 500mm aftermarket lens to my new Canon Rebel T3i, and it worked like a charm. He also loaned me his 28mm wide angle lens. I had no problems with the 28mm, but I had to wriggle a little bit to get the 500mm to fit just right. Took less than a minute to get it done, so not a major complaint... just a heads-up more than anything.. Well worth the wait!

This little FD/EF adapter has worked well. Quality is great. It fits nice & snug without binding, both to my library of ancient FD lenses, and on my Canon T3i. Photo image quality was very reasonable. Remember to CLEAN those old lenses! That's important! Remember you will lose ~1 fstop, so plan your lighting accordingly.
