The QuickDraw Rotating Flash Bracket from Vello positions your flash unit well above the camera body and can quickly and smoothly rotate the flash 90º as you switch from horizontal to vertical shooting. With the flash detached from the body you are less likely to get red-eye effect, and with the rotating mechanism the flash is always above the lens, eliminating side shadows and providing a balanced and effective illumination.
Five mounting holes on the camera platform allow for almost any camera to utilize the bracket. Choose the hole that best balances your camera and tighten it in place with the mounting knob. Attach the flash unit to the bracket's accessory shoe by loosening the red knob, inserting the flash into the accessory shoe and tightening. Connect your flash cable to the flash unit and wrap it around or secure it to the bracket arm and you are ready to shoot.
The flash arm rotates 180º with a smooth and easy flip for when you need to shoot vertical. The padded grip is a comfortable way to stabilize your camera when shooting and is strong enough to be used as a handle for the entire system when not shooting.
The accessory shoe can be positioned in one of two locations or unscrewed and removed to accommodate the Nikon SC-28 and SC-29 or other off-camera shoe cords.

I hate using flash brackets! They're extra weight and awkward to handle. However, I needed a bracket for an event I was asked to cover (in a bar with low red/black-painted ceilings so not much bounce-flash going on!) and knowing I'd probably never use it again I bought this QuickDraw bracket from Vello because it was cheap. I found it very awkward and not very well designed (it bit me!) - you get what you pay for right? Anyway, I returned it to B&H's excellent customer service department and exchanged it for the Vello Speedy Camera Rotating Bracket. Its only about another ten dollars and its definitely worth it as its easier to use and better build quality. Having said that, if you feel your style of photography requires a flash bracket on a regular basis (I really pity you!) try the Digital Pro Rotation Bracket from Custom Brackets. I actually borrowed one of these to do the event and while it was still heavy and awkward, it was definitely much better - presumably at a much fancier price.

Comments about Vello QuickDraw Rotating Flash Bracket:
When I opened the box and started to play with the bracket.... well its cheap! There's just a bolt and washer that holds the rotaion so it never locks into position. I thought maybe there would be a ball bearing or some kind of stop and lock botton?? When the bolt and washer loosen... ITS ONE SLOPPY MESS!! I use a speedlite 430exII and I have to tighten the nut and bolt a few times in a wedding. I'll be looking for a better one!!

Comments about Vello QuickDraw Rotating Flash Bracket:
This bracket has adjustments to fine tune the flash to be over the lens with the camera if you are using a verticle grip or without. Light and easy to move from horizontal to vertical, has good ballance. The only Not great thing is the foam grip puts off a stink smell that's taking it's sweet time gassing out. (when new I could smell it from 8 feet away, now after a couple weeks I can detect it while holding it, this may be outlawed in California :=) ) For the $ it's a pretty good bracket... Excuse me I have to go wash my hands.

Comments about Vello QuickDraw Rotating Flash Bracket:
The screw used to hold the flash vertical or horizontal could never be tightened enough to hold the flash in place, and the screw used to attach bracket to the camera broke the second time I tightened it. Horrible quality and broke at the worst moment.

I use the product for quick and dirty flash shots. It holds the flash up, and with a little tightening of the fasteners, does so sturdily. Solid product.

Bracket flips way too easly, ie. little resistance to hold flash in either position. But would reluctanlty endorse for a friend with the above precaution.

Comments about Vello QuickDraw Rotating Flash Bracket:
the overall construction is amazing for the cost it has two short falls one livable the other possible catastrophic, the first is if you use a sync cord and the 1/4-20 stud you have to realy crank it down other wise if you try and turn your flash the whole base turns, this i fixed by getting another knob that was big enough to grab and also replace the oem pad with a rubber washer. The second is the 1/4-20 base knob for the camera, the stud is made of aluminum and is necked down to pass through the frame and spin so as to allow the knob to tighten Imo i feel this is a weak point, this knob also has a threaded hole in it's base for tri-pod mount putting even more stress, my fix was to replace this knob with a stainless steel shaft this i did on a lathe but with a hack saw and a file one could make a new knob. The new knob is a bit larger size with a 1/4-20 brass insert from hardware store same for stainless steel bolt you cut up to make a shaft. to me it was well worth the effort to make an awesome flash bracket now 5 ***** bottom line, I trust my own engineering in Metal fabrication and the OEM knob failed my QC test [*] replace shaft or a [$] lens or camera body, you choose

This bracket worked great for my cannon camcorder. Since it has the odd size hot shoe I have been looking for a good solution to mount a microphone or light. This really does the trick.

I've been looking for a flash bracket for sometime. And this one fits the bill to a tee. It's very easy to the flash on the bracket and the bracket to the camera. It adds very little weight and gives you a much more stable grip. Changing the angle of the flash clould not be easier. If you need a great flash bracket at a great price then get this one. I'm sure you'll be as pleased as I am
