Everybody knows that you can trigger your camera with a wireless remote control system these days--but with hahnel's Inspire Wireless Remote Control W/LiveView Display for Nikon, you can not only trigger your DSLR, you can actually look at the pictures on the transmitter's 3.5" LCD display, from up to 196' (60 m) away, without going near your camera. A built-in phono socket makes for easy connection to Nikon cameras (see compatibility below). You can safely trigger your DSLR, and view and save the results (up to 99 images) from your control post up to 196' away from your camera.
This remote control operates on 8x easily-found AA batteries, and the built-in mini USB socket offers additional power options such as direct power from a laptop computer, an external Li-ion battery pack, AC/DC Adapter or Solar 5 V source.
Compatible with Nikon D5000/D3100/D700/D300/D300s/D200/D90/D80/D70s, D3s/ D3/D3x/D2X/D2Xs/D2H/D2Hs, and D1/D1X/D1H.
- Built in 3.5" color LCD on the handheld transmitter displays a LiveView image independent of DSLR. View these live images from up to 196' (60 m) away from the camera, ensuring you take the perfect photo at exactly the right time. Ideal for wildlife, sport, or hazardous photography.
- If your DSLR lens is set in a close-up zoom, the built-in CMOS display in the Inspire receiver is a seperate, convenient wide-angle LiveView for surveying the overall scene, as it allows you to monitor the scene prior to switching to zoomed-in DSLR LiveView to take the shot.
- Built-in phono socket allows easy connection with the camera AV output (use the AV cable supplied with camera).
- The Inspire allows you to save the images taken. Then playback the pictures in the Inspire transmitter without having to go back to the camera.
- Multiple remote camera control--the Inspire will allow you to control 4 different receivers connected to 4 different DSLRs. Switch between the LiveView scene of each camera from the transmitter at the touch of a button. While you control one camera, the other receivers go into sleep mode, conserving power.

My work sometimes requires exciting and strange methods and equipment. Mainly used for linear panoramas and other work for public utility, where I might not be able to get a shot otherwise due to required camera position(height or dangerous location). I fought against purchase of a 'blind' remote and waited specifically for this product's release. I almost thought I made a blunder in purchasing this remote when I could not get it to function. NOTE: Cords must be fully inserted! First turn remote on camera on then hand controller/viewer then turn camera on (something I learned from radio controlled vehicles). Visual confirmation of precisely what the camera is capturing is a godsend. I have had trouble with radio interference. Additional or a rotating set of radio frequencies would be helpful. Use NIMH, or Lithium type AA rechargeables with at least a 2900Mah rating and carry several sets for both camera mounted unit and handset as this is a power hog. I have not seen any USB power cord for this yet. The ability to use up to four camera mounted units with one controller is excellent!

I expect to use it mostly to photograph birds, but an occasional non clothed lady might slip in. It nice to see what the camera is seeing and I have yet to test the advertised range but if it's true it will be wonderful. The sad part is that the camera for the unit IS the on camera unit, unless you use LiveView. I am seriously looking forward to a Good one!

this product just didn't work out of the box. I tried another cord but got nothing. the manual was no help at all. I fought the device the whole way and that's not good! these folks need to work on the product and manual and maybe I would reconsider it. I like the idea of it.....

When it arrived could not get it to work it was searching all the time would not sink with the receiver found crack in battery terminal repaired and now it works great.
It's ideal for when you take close ups at ground level you do not have to get down low to look through the camera.
