Benro's HD1 3-Way Panhead is the smallest of their line of HD lightweight magnesium alloy 3-way panheads--it weighs just 1.1 lbs (0.5 kg), but supports up to 11 lbs (5 kg) of equipment. The smooth front and horizontal tilt, 360° pan movements and snap-in quick-release plate system with dual locks make this a valuable addition to your camera kit. Graduated scales for quick repositioning, a separate pan knob, and a built-in bubble level make this a must-have. A PH-08 quick-release plate is included.

Comments about Benro HD1 3-Way Panhead:

I have reviewed the sticks that I purchased as the base of my tripod (Benro Classic A2580F 4-Section Aluminum Tripod) in another review. (Review title - "Best sticks in the price range")I have been very pleased with this purchase. If you will read the other review you will note that this was my fourth attempt in obtaining a decent all around tripod combination this go around. As far as this specific head is concerned, I wanted the panhead because I feel it is easier to "level" my camera using a panhead than a ball head, and if I need to use it for taking video, it is way easier to pan with than a ball head. (That's pretty much why they call this... a panhead)This product is easy to use. The only negative thing that I can mention is that the left to right section is slightly stiff compared to the up and down and pan sections. A little more use should loosen that up just right. Maybe a touch of grease also.I have only used my tripod and head about 10 times, but every time was a complete joy. I personally have never owned a tripod and head of this quality before.I carry the tripod with the panhead attached in the carry bag that came with the Benro sticks that I purchased at the same time. I remove the handle for left to right positioning and re-attach it when setting up the tripod. The quick release and camera mount is very well designed and works very well. It is a bit hard to undo actually, not a negative, as this insures that the camera is not going to accidentally come loose while using. I find the ball level on the head quite useful in leveling the tripod prior to camera mount or when setting up the shot.I highly recommend this head for someone who, like me, wants as much about his shot to be perfect as possible prior to editing. I don't want to have to level my photo by cropping in post! This head makes it quick and easy to accomplish that goal.

Comments about Benro HD1 3-Way Panhead:

I have used two Benro HD tripod heads for less than a year. Without warning one of the heads broke apart. It dumped my D300s and Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8 lens onto the floor. The camera survived but my $1900 lens was destroyed. Thin plastic hidden inside the head is a very bad design idea.

Comments about Benro HD1 3-Way Panhead:

I started with Ball head for my carbon fiber Tripod and Nikon D300 camera. The camera was hard to mount and I had very little control of the camera. The Benro head is the best I have used since the Quick Set head I had in 1962. The camera mounts easily, lots of control and stable. 5 out of 5 stars.
