When you're shooting with a telephoto or in low light and moving too fast to set up a tripod (or you just want to travel light), the Benro C49F Classic Carbon Fiber Monopod may be your new best friend.

This carbon fiber support reaches a height of 5.61' (1.71 m), closes down to 19.1" (48.5 cm), and supports 55 lbs (25 kg). It only weighs 1.3 lbs (0.6 kg), so you'll barely know you're carrying it. Opening and closing the 5 sections is quick and easy with the flip lever lock design, and high elasticity rubber feet prevent slipping (meaning less fatigue for you in the long run).

An attached wrist strap and a closed foam grip give you a secure hold on the monopod (and your camera!), and the grip insulates your hands from the carbon fiber on cold days. The head plate has a reversible 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 screw.

Comments about Benro C49F Classic Carbon Fiber Monopod:

This monopod is very versatile. Not only does it support cameras up to 55 lbs but it also serves me as a walking stick and cane as I have some mobility impairment. Use as is for a stick and simple rotate a ball head camera platform to the "portrait" position and shorten the pod for a dandy cane. The floating tip is much more stable than a conventional rubber or metal tip and doesn't slip on wet surfaces. It also collapses down to < 20" for stuffing in a suitcase. This device has enabled me to continue enjoying my hobby while giving me stability on uneven ground - a Godsend!

We are using it with a Sony PMW350 broadcast ENG camera. Very light, small when close and a tall 67" fully open which brings the camera lens above the crowd. Easy to adjust and sturdy this equipment should last for quite some time.

I've only used my new monopod twice but I love it. I use a cannon 5D for professional video shoots and need mobility at times for active days. This monopod works great for quick open and closing and still gives me a steady shoot on the run. It's light and easy to carry but sturdy. I say if your thinking about it go for it.

Comments about Benro C49F Classic Carbon Fiber Monopod:

I purchased this mono and the Gitzo GM5561T mono for a hands-on comparison of what most reviewers consider to be the two best 55 lbs. capacity carbon fiber monopods.

First, I found no differences in stability. Both are rock solid, and I actually preferred the C94F, firstly because of the grippy rubber foot and also because, at my height of 5'11", I didn't need to extend the last and smallest leg (when paired with the GB Gimbal Head). The Gitzo has a thicker top leg, but the rest of the legs appear to be very close to the same size per segment. You really can't go wrong with either monopod, but with all else practically equal, I went for the less expensive option, the C94F.

It's a minor thing, but I also agree with other comments on the C94F's cheap wrist strap, which I've removed from the mono. Problem solved. That's the only feature where the big Gitzo clearly wins. It's strap is solid, and has a clip for your belt buckle. I wish Benro had thought of it first, or at least, borrowed the feature.

How does the C94F work in the field? I've used it for seven sports events with my 400mm and 70-200mm, and thus far, it has performed as advertised. It's so light, you hardly know it's there, and there's also the piece of mind that your hardware sits on something that can carry its weight 4 - 5 times over.

The portability is also good. When I walk down the sidelines, or into the stands, I rest the padded portion of the top leg over my shoulder and it's about as comfortable as 12 extra pounds can be.

Last is the issue of flip locks vs twist locks. I have no preference, but if you do, it could be the factor that sways you. I'm accustomed to flip locks on my tripod, so I suppose flips are more familiar to me. Didn't sway me as much as the cost, for sure.

This mono is worth every cent I paid for it. Great lifetime product that I recommend for all heavy zoom lenses.

              Hope this review helps.

I bought this to use with a Nikon 400mm f2.8 VRII. I shoot mostly wildlife stuff. It handles the lens really well. Folds up small and makes for easy traveling. Very lite also. Very happy for the price. I like the flip locks more for a monopod than a tripod.

Tripod is very nice. I like the pivot foot. The unit feels very solid when you hold. Only problem is the wimpy wrist strap. It broke after only the second use. Not a deal breaker but upsetting. Would still recommend the product.

Comments about Benro C49F Classic Carbon Fiber Monopod:

This very light, very sturdy monopod is "just right" as Goldilox would have said. It is easy to deploy, easy to carry, and could double as a walking stick for those of us over 60 who like to have a little more stability when hiking to a shoot.
It does need a head. Unless you intend to tilt the whole apparatus to get the right shot. I find the best use is not as a substitute for a tripod, but as a way to deal with the fatigue I get trying to shoot with a four pound lens for an extended period of time. It also allows bracketing to work properly as a technique. Particularly for long range shots.
Bottom line, well worth the money.

it works with my RRS clamps really well together, I usually attach my Nikon AF-S 400mm/2.8 and 200-400mm/4 VR II on the monopod, it's strong built, handles very well with bigger telephoto lenses... I am very happy with this purchase, the new and improved foot and flip-locks are working great...

[...] very pleased with the Benro monopod. Its locking mechanisms are very secure and I appreciate the fact that they are all lined up when the monopod is collapsed. I'm 6'2" tall and the monopod easily reaches the height I need and has great stability at that height with a relatively heavy camera and lens. I especially appreciate the compact size which is a plus for travel.

This new Benro monopod is terrific. Closed or extended, it has the right height, strength and light weight I need for my particular brand of photography. In digital photography, you really can't do without a good tripod, but in so many cases, a monopod is exactly the right remedy and this one is exactly the right monopod.
