The Benro Travel Flat A2190T 5-Section Aluminum Tripod is a solid support for a medium-format camera or a DSLR outfitted a telephoto lens, with a maximum load capacity of 26.4 lb. The tripod features a two-section center column that can be removed for low-to-the-ground shooting: Simply attach the head directly to the 3/8"-16 screw of the magnesium-alloy chassis.

With the center column attached and extended, the tripod reaches a maximum height of 66.1". The non-rotating leg design ensures that you can set up the tripod quickly and easily at a moment's notice.

When it's time to fold up, the lightweight aluminum legs of the A2190T fold down flat – somewhat like three fingers on your hand – thanks to an innovative chassis design. The included custom carry case snugly fits the 16.9" folded tripod & center column, with room for a head (not included). For travelers and campers, this compactness can make all the difference.

Custom Carry Case with Strap

The big advantage to this tripod is that it weighs very little and holds a lot of weight. I've been using a 4 leg CF tripod for travel and am replacing it with this one. For the same weight - a couple ounces heavier, it's all aluminum with no fear of the dreaded carbon fiber crack sounds. The metal tripod leg inserts are a big plus but they and the extension tube add weight. Putting everything together in the case makes it just over 5 lbs while the basic tripod alone only weighs 3.1 lb. If you're looking to minimize, the basic tripod will lay flat in your luggage really well. If weight is important but not critical, having the extension and the carry case and metal feet plus wrenches makes it a very versatile unit.

One negative - no center ring to hang a weight from or suspend a battery pack. That's the only drawback to this over others that have a loop or hook on it someplace. I like to hang something from the center to help keep it from toppling in a jostle or wind.

The tripod is nice. It got a downgrade due to not having a hook to hang a weight...but it seemed pretty stable. I also downgraded it due to the locking method - was a little annoying trying to lock it and unlock. I took it to Italy, and I had to leave behind the case because it added unnecessary weight I could not afford to have. Overall for the price, it is a nice little tripod.

Comments about Benro Travel Flat A2190T 5-Section Aluminum Tripod:

My intent when purchasing the Benro Travel Flat A2190T Tripod was for it to be my travel tripod and as such, it has exceeded my expectations. But since I've had time to work with it, I found it works just fine as a studio tripod. With legs fully extended, I do not need the screw-on adjustable column. Instead, I mount a Manfrotto 494/RC2 ball head directly to the legs and my Canon 6D w/QR plate to the ball head. With this set-up, my viewfinder is exactly at eye level. This tripod includes a case and carrying strap. The case contains the tripod, the screw-on adjustable column, and spiked feet, with room for a ball head. When traveling, I leave the case at home to reduce size and weight. I place the tripod in a plastic sleeve which goes in my roller bag. It just FLAT works!

Comments about Benro Travel Flat A2190T 5-Section Aluminum Tripod:

I travel a lot and have learned that a good tripod is essential. Given all that goes with traveling today I was willing to buy a second tripod for that purpose. The Benfro Travel Flat is all that its name implies. It is compact and its unique flattened profile when collapsed makes it a convenient travel piece. It is not the lightweight, full-featured tripod we all carry daily, but is sturdy and totally functional. I find that it meets my travel niche perfectly. Whether strapped to a backpack or in overhead luggage -- for me, it will always be there.

This tripod is very light and sturdy. Its only drawback is that it takes a longer time to setup than a flip-lock tripod. I mounted a Manfrotto 322RC2 head in mine. Unfortunately, the included bag could not accommodate such head.

Comments about Benro Travel Flat A2190T 5-Section Aluminum Tripod:

It's a relatively light weight tank. Especially when backing off each leg section an inch and using the extension tube. Plenty of height for a 6 footer. It comes with a set of leg spikes and a nice ridged soft case that leaves room to keep a ball head attached. My only gripe is that I won't be able to shoot from near ground level as the legs open to one position, and there is no way to flip the extension tube upside down. Can you really have it all though for [$]? I expected less. Love it.

I travel a lot on vacation, and this is going to be my tripod of choice. It packs in my carry on easily, and it is a heavy duty tripod, and is probably every bit capable of supporting the rated 26lbs providing you get a decent head for it.

There have been some criticism about the legs not folding out as far as a standard tripod, but I have not found that to be the case. It is very stable, and about the best solution for compact travel.

I bought this expressly for upcoming travel to Africa. I wanted something small, sturdy and not too expensive should anything happen to it. For the price, I was not expecting too much so I was very pleasantly surprised when I began to use the tripod. It is well made, solid and is indeed extremely compact. It's only marginally less sturdy than my older Gitzo GT2530LVL and the Arca Swiss ballhead that I have been using on the Gitzo seats excellently on the Benro. I am very happy with this product.

I videotape school sports events. Most pressboxes are poorly designed when it comes to using a tripod for taping purposes. To get the playing field in full view the front legs of the tripod are set on a ledge or window sill. Every solid video tripod I have found is about two feet tall when collapsed. This height usually results in a poor view of the viewfinder as well as a stiff neck! Although it was not the intention of the manufacturer I put a high quality fluid head on this unit. The short collapsed height and solid construction of this tripod have solved the camcorder height problem. It works very well in adapting to my special conditions.

Comments about Benro Travel Flat A2190T 5-Section Aluminum Tripod:

Comments about Benro Travel Flat A2190T 5-Section Aluminum Tripod:

This is a great tripod. Solid, sturdy (rated for 26 lbs.), 66" height and compact enough to easily fit in any carry-on suitcase. I've had a Cullmann Magic II flat tripod for years, which I used for travel and thought was great ... until I got this one. This Benro A2190 is infinitely more stable, much higher, better built and better design. As a pro shooting travel, landscape/wildlife and stock, this is the best travel tripod I've found. It is about time a tripod manufacturer figured out a simple way to build a flat-design travel tripod that folds small enough, is sturdy enough and extends high enough to be really usable for serious photography. Kudos to Benro.
