Comments about AverMedia AVertv Express HD DVR:
One of the best capture card solutions for expresscard34 slots. The Express HD DVR is very small and discreet, even coming with a nice drawstring bag to store while not in use.
The HD DVR doesn't truly need a pass through since game video and audio is near lag-free and playable straight off the laptop. If you are using this as a streaming solution for tournaments or gaming events, you might want to buy a component distribution amplifier for this, but it's not needed for personal use.
While there are other capture cards out there for laptop solutions such as the Avermedia USB HD DVR and even the Hauppauge HD PVR, these do not utilize directshow and encode directly into H.264. Unlike the HD PVR and USB HD DVR, the Express HD DVR uses directshow and works with all directshow programs such as VLC, WireCast, Xsplit, and Flash Media Encoder.
This product is great for mobile budget streaming/recording solutions and doesn't require heavy system specs to run. The Express HD DVR is great!
