The Metz mecablitz 58 AF-2 TTL Shoe Mount Flash for Pentax/Samsung DSLR is the premier Metz shoe mount flash designed to be compatible with digital Pentax/Samsung SLR cameras. To better facilitate compatibility with cameras, this flash features a built-in USB port that allows for future firmware updates via the Internet. Advanced features include a secondary reflector with 3 light output ratios, built-in reflector card for soft light, a metal base for easy attachment, and a constant modeling light for pre-visualizing the flash.
The 58 AF-2 has evaluative pre-flash and is designed to fully support a Pentax/Samsung digital SLR camera's TTL system. The flash also features an auto zoom head from 24-105mm that can be set to match the camera's sensor, a full bounce and swivel head (with a fully swiveling reflector system which also contains a flip-out reflector card and a diffuser), a built-in wide angle diffuser for 12mm coverage, and in addition, full manual control with 12 variable power output levels. If the camera has a built-in flash, the mecablitz 58 AF-2 can also be employed wirelessly in the system, even in servo mode.

Comments about Metz mecablitz 58 AF-2 TTL Shoe Mount Flash for Pentax/Samsung DSLR:
This is a nicely built unit. The plastic is less rigid than on the Pentax AF540FGZ which means it should be harder to crack. The hot shoe is metal and more precisely machined than the Pentax counterpart. As a result it slides in easy, a good thing because that means less wear on the cameras hot shoe port. It works fin as a slave, I didn't get a chance yet to try it as master. It produces accurate exposures as far as I could test indoors and as fill in (outside, sunny day).It has a secondary reflector which is awesome to use when bouncing the light from a ceiling. All in all I like this unit a lot. It's a pity it is not weather sealed, flashes get damaged so easily in rain...Oh and the pouch it comes with... way better than the one Pentax supplies. I have used it attach to a belt and yeah you look a little weird, but it is so comfortable when only carrying the camera with one lens and no camera bag.I am using this unit with a Pentax K5 camera.I would definitely recommend this to a friend, in fact I have and it was recommended to me by a friend too :)

Comments about Metz mecablitz 58 AF-2 TTL Shoe Mount Flash for Pentax/Samsung DSLR:
I'm just a casual photographer and this is my very first mounted flash unit, so take this review with a grain of salt. I've been very impressed with this flash unit. The light output levels are incredibly high. This unit has vastly expanded my flexibility indoors in terms of setting the exposure, aperture and ISO levels.
I haven't tried using the manual controls yet, but the automatic settings are a breeze to use.

Comments about Metz mecablitz 58 AF-2 TTL Shoe Mount Flash for Pentax/Samsung DSLR:
I bought this after my Pentax AF540FGZ malfunctioned for the second time.
Put it through its strides at a friends party and worked great. Worked perfectly with PTTL, with good exposure and color fidelity. Initial impressions is that it is significantly sturdier than the Pentax. Used regular batteries and had very good cycle time.

Comments about Metz mecablitz 58 AF-2 TTL Shoe Mount Flash for Pentax/Samsung DSLR:
Flash performed well, as all the reviews have stated. The only dislike was that the recycle time maybe could be better. I was using enelope batteries trying to "paint with light" and the recycle time was approx. 3-4 seconds, not good for painting with light.

Comments about Metz mecablitz 58 AF-2 TTL Shoe Mount Flash for Pentax/Samsung DSLR:
I bought this as an upgrade from the af-360 mainly because it swivels. The build quaitly feels better than the 360. It has less buttons on it than the 360. It did not take long to get used to the menus. I find it easy to take on and off the hot shoe. Still playing with unit but I am very happy I made the upgrade!

Comments about Metz mecablitz 58 AF-2 TTL Shoe Mount Flash for Pentax/Samsung DSLR:
I bought the Metz 58AF2 to use with my Pentax K10D both on-camera and wirelessly.
It is built noticeably better than the comparable Pentax 540FGZ, particularly the attachment foot, the case, and the control panel, which is much simpler than the rather busy collection of buttons, slide switches and dials on the Pentax.
The manual could use a bit more detail in discussing the set-up and operation of the flash/camera interface in wireless mode, but my early, simple experiments with this mode have gone well so far. Setting the controller for control of flash groups really should be explicitly discussed, but all the manual provides is a graphic for physical arrangement of groups at the back of the book.

Comments about Metz mecablitz 58 AF-2 TTL Shoe Mount Flash for Pentax/Samsung DSLR:
A nicely built flash for the Pentax. I was torn between the Pentax 450 and Metz product, but online research told me that this flash was preferred over the Pentax (only slightly) because of the better construction. I used this flash recently at a wedding and found the performance strong. The only problem I had was having the flash keep up with the camera in high-speed mode, where my Pentax would keep clicking past the flashes' ability to recharge after 5-6 continuous shots. The remote wireless works like a charm and the menu is relatively easy to navigate.
