This is an obscure little item but if you are using speed lites with Radio Poppers, this is a godsend. Radio Poppers are radio triggers/receivers that basically intercept the ETTL communications between a Speedlite commander and slave and transmit them by radio signal. These babies are pretty rock solid and eliminate line of sight and bright sunlight issues inherent in Nikon/Canon speedlight Master -> Slave communications.
Only problem is that the Popper Receivers attach to speedlights via an included bracket. The only thing on this bracket for attaching to a light stand is a 1/4 thread in the base. This is fine for many applications but many of the light modiers and other accessories made for speed lites these days bank on the speed light being attached via it's foot to a cold shoe.
Example: LastoLite EzBox SoftBox Brackets.
This item provides the interface to securely attach the Radio Popper bracket(holding a speedlite) to any speedlite cold shoe.

Comments about Rosco LitePad Cold Shoe Attachment:
Recently I bought an inexpensive LED light. The light is very good but the cold shoe attachment is flimsy plastic. It broke recently on the job. I had a metal cold shoe connector but it did not fit well in one of my smaller camcorders. I bought this cold shoe and it fits nicely. The 1/4 turn screw goes into the bottom of the light and is secure.

Great device. Does the job well. Decently priced. I just wish it had a rubber pad on the top part that would attach to whatever device you fasten it to. I bought a rubber washer to compensate for it.

Sturdy multipurpose cold shoe. I bought this with the intent to use with my 7" field monitor, and it works very well. Maybe a 1/4" too long for my needs, but nothing a hacksaw can't take care of!

Comments about Rosco LitePad Cold Shoe Attachment:
I use this to hook up an H4N recorder to the top of my 5dmk2. It secures really tight on the 5Dmk2 but not as tight as i would like on the H4N causing the H4N to sometimes turn a bit to the side. Possibly my fault for being afraid to tighten it too much to the plastic body of the H4N. Maybe using a small rubber washer would alleviate that fear. Can't beat the price though for a simple connecter tool.

I wish the thread on this unit was a little shorter but no issue there, I can cut it down and file it smooth myself. Overall a VERY well made piece. It's strong metal, but not overly heavy and fits well on any shoe mount.

DSLR users need about 4 or 5 of these for all of their accessories. I bought these to hook onto my IDC cage.

I bought this so I could make still photo + audio slideshow presentations more easily. In the past, I would have to take my stills, then conduct my interviews/gather audio with my Zoom H2 recorder. Now I can do both at the same time. I can also attach my Zoom Q3HD on top of my still Nikon D70, and get stills + HD video at the same time with great audio.
