Polaroid's Swivel + Bounce Lighting Shoe adds a new level of versatility to your on-camera light or flash. Attaching directly to a camcorder or DSLR's accessory shoe, the unit provides 180° forward and back tilt along with 360° rotation. This effectively lets you position your light at any angle the scene requires, from bouncing off the ceiling, the floor, a side wall, or an off-axis card or reflector. With the built-in standard tripod thread, you can also mount the shoe to a tripod or stand to serve as an off-camera light source.

I use this on my home made fig rig to tilt a 4 channel mixer. Great up and down support, but will swing around if I tilt it too far one way or the other. Other than that, mostly metal construction. Im not affraid it will break.

Comments about Polaroid Swivel + Bounce Lighting Shoe:
I bought this to attach a video light to my Canon XA10. The shotgun mic holder was too close for the light to fit so I needed a riser. This was the perfect height. I bought this one over the Bescor SA-1. I like it and it works well but it has some quirks. What I like most is that the construction is 90% metal. Both shoe mounts are metal and the body is metal too. The only plastic is the screw nob. What I dont like is that it is very difficult to get fully tighted. I felt like I was going to strip the threads. For some reason the screw nob not only tightens the tilt but also the swivel function. This means ocassionally the light would twist around when I leaned my camera forward. For the price I am happy and it will serve me well.

I intended to use this for mounting my 430ex off camera, but the swivel is too weak to keep my flash in position, even when I tightened the knob all the way.
