Comments about ColorRight Classic White Balance Tool:

The disk is simple. You use it to balance out colors before a shoot and it works wonderfully. Simple hold it up, snap, then win the shoot. I take it everywhere I go for when I need it. It is tiny and easy to use so there is no need to worry about it being a burden.

Comments about ColorRight Classic White Balance Tool:

This little thing works. I have used it several times and it always gives me correct ambient light color by setting a custom white balance in the camera. It is also useful in post processing. I usually try to shoot a picture with the colored side showing. In post processing I can use the eyedropper tool to fine tune the color balance I like best by clicking on the colors on the device in the picture I took. Hope that makes sense.

Comments about ColorRight Classic White Balance Tool:

I have used other tools for the in-camera CWB (Color/Custome White Balance) process before and usually ends up not using them due to the inconvenience of using them on location or inconvenience of carrying them around. Since I shoot only RAW and the 5D3 does an OK job on CWB, often the CWB is corrected in the post process. Having said that, when I shooting wedding & event with hundreds or thousands of photos, the post process does take up a lot of time.

Originally, I was looking at the Expodisc 2.0 since Expodisc has many great reviews; however, stumble upon this product which will meet my need much better when doing wedding and event photography where I won't often have the luxury of pointing my lens toward the key light from my subject's location (unless I am allowed to stop the wedding, a motocross race while the weather is changing or even get into an animal's cage of a zoo... NOT LIKLY & DON'T WANT TO!). It is also able to measure the CWB with on camera & off camera flash (Expodisc is not able to measure the on camera flash CWB in a wide open space). It is the flattest, lightest and most durable WB product that allow me to MEASURE THE "CWB" FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER'S SHOOTING POSITION. Also, when I am in a pinch and not able to create a in-camera CWB, flip the filter over, take a quick shot and it became an on-location gray card that also acts as a muti-skin whit balance reference card for your subject!

This is a great product with great price and takes very little space in the camera bag. It works quickly and easily with my 17-35mm, 24-105 & 100mm IS macro (with hoods on)except the 70-200mm f2.8 L IS II which requires me to revers the hood to take the measurement correctly (extra 5 sec). I bought a few of these to put into all my camera bags so I never have to shoot without one. I also bought the ColorRight Classic "Portrait" - White Balance Filter (not sold here at B&H at this point)for warmer skin tone when shooting portrait and family/baby photos. I am really enjoying the post process now in Lightroom without the need of thinking what the correct whit balance should been when I took the photo.

I bought a few of these for every camera bag I have and to give out as a gifts. I was looking at the Expodisc 2.0 and found this product which will meet my need in wedding and event photography where I may not always have the luxury of pointing my lens toward the key light from my subject's location, as well as able to measure the WB with on camera & off camera Speedlight. Although this is not the newest model they have, it is the flattest, lightest and most durable WB product that allow me to measure the WB from the photographer's shooting position. Great product with great price and great size that takes very little space in the camera bag. It really cuts down the post process time in LR event shooting only RAW format. No more guessing WB!

IT TAKES ABOUT 30 SECOND TO SET THE WB WITH IT. YOU DONT NEED TO SHOOT DIRECTLY TO THE LIGHT SOURCE. THE RESULTS ARE BEST. A PRICEY ONE AND DOES NOT COME WITH ANY CASE OR POUCH. MADE OF STRONG PLASTIC AND METAL RING. FEELS SOLID.
