Comments about Buffalo AirStation Nfiniti Wireless-N Dual Band Ethernet Converter, Access Point & Bridge:

I am using the AirStation to stream media such as Netflix via Wifi to a Samsung Blu-ray player from an AT&T Uverse Gateway. In my case it was necessary to configure the IP settings manually to attach it to my network. Fortunately I have the technical background to do such work but a networking newbie might find the process challenging. In my case, the biggest challenge was the small print on the unit's case for the device passkey and other information needed for the configuration as well as the absence of external labeling of the MAC number.

Nevertheless it's now happily attached to my network and has been performing flawlessly.

Comments about Buffalo AirStation Nfiniti Wireless-N Dual Band Ethernet Converter, Access Point & Bridge:

So far the product seems to be doing the job. However, since I am using it to connect a blu-ray player to the home network I found the documentation to be a bit sparse. Successful configuration required some educated guesswork to establish an IP compatible with my network. So it's not exactly something for a complete networking newbie. My major gripes besides the documentation are the small size of the print on the device and the absence of the MAC number printed on the exterior of the case.

Took it out the box, hooked it up to my laptop put the settings I wanted and boom done. I use it as a bridge between two apartment complexes. I needed a 5ghz band bridge to avoid the microwaves on 2.4. It connects to another brand 5ghz bridge. Remember 5ghz needs a clear line of sight.

The WLAE-AG300N Air Station enabled me to go totally wireless without an ISP. It connected to my wireless system and produced a broadband wired source for telephone use without a computer. As a computer novice I required Buffalo Tech Support and John, understood what I was attempting and assisted me in attaining my goal.

My original intention for purchasing this unit was to use it with my new Nikon D4 in order to operate the latter wirelessly in remote operation, i.e. ad-hoc network. The installing process is simple and straight forward. Furthermore that device can also be used as a bridge in order to repeat the wifi signal in your house let say from one floor to the next.

I use this as an access point and a repeater. Aside from problems getting a good driver (the one it came with was out of date and had some problems) it worked fine. Since it has AOSS, setting up connections is just the click of a button.
