Compact size, sharp look with MBP, fast FireWire transfers--plugged in and conducted a full initial Time Machine backup, about 85GB, in less than an hour. Also like the bus-powered feature--trying to get away from 'always on' devices as much as possible. Can't yet say how well it will hold up over time, but it feels solid. Good choice for Mac. [...]

Nice looking but didn't work. I ordered two and one didn't work out of the box. Made loud clicking sounds but wouldn't appear on my desktop. I ordered another and it had the same problem...strike two. It took two replacements before I got one that worked. I own two G-tech desktop drives and they've been really reliable but, so far, these mobile units are very disappointing.

Comments about G-Technology 750GB G-DRIVE mobile Hard Drive:
I use the the drive mostly for video and photo editing, and it works as it should. Great performance, capacity, and looks; it's a triple threat. Also portable, and compact, did i mention that? That's important too. One thing that I would like to change though is the tip of drive. 5400 RPM is okay for now, but it would've have been better with a 7200 Rpm drive, or a solid state. Love the 2x firewiree 800 ports.

Comments about G-Technology 750GB G-DRIVE mobile Hard Drive:
As a wedding photographer, I rely on a quick external storage immediately after returning home. It's plug and play. It's very light, transfer speeds are fast (firewire),design is very similar to Apples unibody design. Doesn't require external power, and is silent! I would love to be able to turn it off when not needed instead of having to unplug the Firewire cable.

I've only had the drive for a few weeks, but I can say this. It looks good, feels good, and has been working flawlessly so far. I use it as the main drive for all my samples working with ableton on my laptop, and the Firewire speed has been solid for that purpose. It's plug and play on my Mac Laptop, which is always nice as well. It runs a little warm, but nothing too crazy, I imagine any drive will put off some heat. Hitachi has always been a solid brand, and I reckon I would continue buying these for future needs.

This hard drive is very sleek and looks great with a macbook pro. Product has worked great so far, firewire cable is nice length and no issues encountered. Light and portable and has nice rubber legs on back to sit on a desk without getting scratched.

Since the recent Mac OS 10.7 (Lion) release broke Time Machine backups to my Dlink NAS storage, I needed a new backup device for my MacBook Pro. I was able to successfully copy my NAS Time Machine backups to the G-Tech drive then point Lion Time Machine to start using this drive.
Time Machine now works flawlessly and fast via the Firewire 800 connection.

Comments about G-Technology 750GB G-DRIVE mobile Hard Drive:
Can't comment on longevity (only had this drive for a few weeks), but I really like the small footprint and the fact that you can daisy-chain it in line with other FW800 drives (most mobile hard drives don't give you two FW800 ports). The drive runs rather quiet and not any hotter than comprable drives. One caveat: the black surface is pone to show fingerprints and smudges even at the lightest touch, but a gentle swipe with a microfiber cloth restores its shiny beauty.
