The LN2MIC-ZOOMH4N from Sescom is a problem solving cable for users of HDSLRs who are using a Zoom H4N or Zoom H1 as a secondary audio recording source. Many professional DSLR cameras have unbalanced stereo microphone level audio inputs on a mini TRS 3.5mm jack. The Samson Zoom H4N or H1 output line level audio signals. This cable provides the proper microphone levels and preserves the delicate connector contacts inside the camera, allowing users to go directly from the audio recorder into the camera.
The cable features a -25dB L Pad attenuator on both audio channels to reduce the prosumer line level output (-10dBV) to the cameras microphone input level. The cable is designed with the proper impedances to assure maximum voltage transfer and low noise operation. The cable shield is isolated on the camera end to prevent shield noise from directly coupling into the camera connector ground. All resistors values are 1% metal film to assure similar voltage attenuation between the stereo inputs and cable ends are labeled for proper connection.
| Connectors | 2 x 3.5mm TRS |
| Audio Input Level | -10dBV (0.25pp to 0.47pp) prosumer line level |

It'd be better if it was a 50db cable, but considering this is the ONLY one I could find like this . . . It's certainly helped with syncing audio to my 7D without clipping. If you want to use the audio from it, then you really need to set the output volume on your Zoom a lot lower than you'd normally use for headphones.
I have a splitter so I can monitor and record backup/reference audio to the 7D. This helps, but not the best. The cable quality is good and I assume this will last me some time even with daily use (eng style work.)

Giving this a 3 for now. Cable was recommended by sales staff as well by many people online while doing research.
Was hoping this would help reduce the hiss when recording video on my 7D with microphone and H1 recorder. There is still noticable hiss which can be fixed post in editing software but I need something for when I have to give video right away and I am not able to edit it before hand.
Based off other positive reviews thinking mine could be defective and exchanging.

Works great for hooking up a Zoom H4N to a Nikon d7000. Found it best to set the H4n to the auto level mic setting, H4N headphone volume to 55, and Nikon mic input to medium or auto.

Have been using a Zoom field recorder for audio on my DSLR Film Projects. Really helps to have an backup of audio plus makes it way easier to sync audio. This small investment is definitely worth it. I consider this a MUST HAVE for DSLR Productions if using a Zoom or other field recorder.

Work well on my HDR-XR550V and my Zoom H1, I would've prefer a cheaper shipping method, but I guess this is what you get when you want to have a rare item like this wire that isnt sell anywhere here in Quebec. The sound isn't as clear as the zoom h1 it self but I guess it depend on your camera mic input.

If you have a DSLR and a zoom recorder you need this. It's only 20 something dollars and...WOW! The audio sounds tons better than the other mic I was using on my camera. You don't even have to hit record on the zoom. As long as it's in record preview it's sending kick-but audio to the card in your camera!

After searching for some time looking for a solution (other than building a pad), I came across this little magic cable. I have wanted to use my mixer, which has a line level output, in conjunction with my Canon 60D which is at mic level. This cable solved the problem, providing about a 25db pad that brings levels down into a manageable range to allow for manual control. Once set, all levels can now be controlled at the mixer. A great little solution to achieve professional audio, although it is a bit pricey.

Since I received a DSLR for Christmas, I decided to check out video, It came as no surprise that the small internal microphone was not providing quality sound. I attached a standard 1/8 (3.5) cable to my Zoom audio recorder, and then to the input on the camera. The audio to the Zoom SD card was a tremendous improvement, but only marginally to the audio track of the video, Using Google, I learned I needed to use an attenuation cable, and the problem was completely solved.

I use this with my Zoom H1 and Canon T3i, it makes the headphone out on the H1 into a mic level that the T3i can handle. Its great cause I can record clean audio into my T3i and also record straight to the H1 as well. The only thing that is a little frustrating is that you have to put a lot of force into inserting the cable into both the H1 and the T3i. Over all it does the job I want it to do and the build quality is spot on, I like it a lot.

Comments about Sescom LN2MIC-ZOOMH4N - Line to Microphone Attenuation Cable for HDSLR Cameras:
I am using this cable to attenuate the signal from an Zoom H4N into my Canon 7D. So far, the cable seems to work great -- it does exactly what it's supposed to do. My only reason for docking it one star is that it seems a little flimsy, as in, I don't think I will get years and years of heavy use out it. Also, the connection to the camera does not seem super solid. I am afraid that while shooting events, it might easily get pulled out, thus, I have been using some gaffing tape to secure the connection to the camera. I think the fit could be a bit tighter.

I got this for my 60d and zoom h4n. Its hard to plug in to the 60d at first, but with a little, or a lot of force it will get in the 60d. Great sound quality, perfect length, and the wire is really tough.

This cable does exactly what it says it will do. I needed a cable to connect my Zoom H4n to my Canon T2i. If you put the output volume on the Zoom to 50 you get nice audio into your camera. I bought a small adapter for it so now I can use headphones at the same time. It's not a long cable but that's fine with me.

I'm using this cable with a zoom H1N and Canon 60d and it works awesome. The rating above that says it doesn't work with the 60d is absolutely wrong. You do have to push the cable in a little harder than other connections but not by much.
My settings are Auto Levels and VOLUME set to 90 on the Zoom and the 60d is set to manual audio with the levels adjusted to be about halfway inbetween the first and second tick (from the left).
The audio recorded on the 60d is SOOOOOOOOO much clearer now than what we used to use. (Azden stereo shotgun mic directly into the 60d.)
There has always been a slight to sometimes obnoxious buzz with the old setup but with this configuration it is all but gone!!!
Great purchase!!

I run this from my Zoom H1 into my Canon T2i / 550D and it works great. The chord is rigid and nice and short, so it doesn't get in the way at all. Rock and roll!!!! Now I gotta find a way to cut down on the wind noise using the H1...different topic. But this chords seems well-made and works perfectly.
