Comments about Nady HM-10 HEADMIC Series Headworn Microphone (Beige):

First off, if you want a MUCH more detailed review of this mic than space here permits, google "akustyk" and the model name, and you'll find a really thorough review of this mic (including detailed acoustic analysis) by a phonetician (who does not sell anything and so is totally objective).

I am a phonetician too, and that review is what convinced me to buy the hm10 for my needs (=recording normal speech for acoustic analysis).

I'm delighted with the quality of sound pickup. It's just great.

That said, there is one pretty glaring flaw: the headset. Will it fit your head? There's a few questions you can ponder to lead you to the answer. 1) Are you a child? 2) Do you suffer from microencephaly? 3) Is your head somehow the size of a large orange/pretty small grapefruit? If so, then yes.
If not, prepare for some gymnastics. I find the headset itself not terribly uncomfortable to wear, at least for a short time. But as for the mic position, I can only describe it as nostril-interior-mounted. Or if you wiggle it, you can get it to poke you in the eye instead. Or you can withdraw the boom and get much lower sound quality and have it rub against your cheek and/or earlobe (if you pull it really far back). In short, I have tried it with 20 different people of various ages and have not found even one person who can wear the headset in the way it's shown and still have the mic in a suitable position for recording speech.

Of course, if you wear it as an awkward necklace, you can still get quite good quality recordings. And if you ever find you need an intra-nostril mic, then you'll know it can fill in for that too...

Comments about Nady HM-10 HEADMIC Series Headworn Microphone (Beige):

I am a computer teacher and I use this microphone to teach my classes. This hands free microphone is just the thing for saving my voice and allowing me to do computer demos for my classes.
It works great, is very sensitive and is extremely comfortable to wear for hours.
