Comments about Nady DSM-1 Digital Sound Pressure Level Meter:

Due to the consolidations and belt tightening within the broadcasting industry, a number of professionals are finding the need to work from home, either as pod-casters or for those still employed with a "daytime job," doing voice-over work to help support the ever shrinking budget.

I working having worked on the other side of the glass, have been taking advantage of this niche market by designing and installing booths or modifying residential rooms into home studios.

Now by ear, I can most of the time, determine the sources of noise to be mitigated and in turn the best location to locate the booth or a microphone within a room, but with this sound meter I can confirm my assessment allowing me to go from "this should work" to "this will work" reducing the time I spend designing a solution which lowers the cost to my customer.

In addition, the meter also allows me to perform a before application to after application proof of performance test which provides me with a baseline as-built reference.
