With a natural, earth-tone aesthetic and sophisticated technology, the Yamaha TSX-140 Desktop Audio System reinvents the traditional clock radio. It's highlighted by an integrated iPod dock, CD player and AM / FM tuner. It has a USB port, AUX 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack and features Yamaha's IntelliAlarm technology. The 15W, full range speakers and digital amplifier yield ultra-clear, authentic audio and produce sufficient volume for a desktop system.
The iPod dock is compatible with multiple generations of iPhone, iPod classic, iPod touch and iPod nano. It's fully digital, which limits unwanted noise and distortion and when the TSX-140 is connected to a computer via USB, you can sync your iPod or iPhone to iTunes directly from the dock.
The TSX-140 also includes a CD player, tuner with ten station presets, USB port and AUX input. The CD-player is compatible with audio CD, MP3 and WMA formats. The USB port and AUX input allow connection with MP3 players as well as computers and any other audio source with a USB or line output.
The sound quality of the TSX-140 is outstanding. It features twin 3.1" full range speakers with bass-reflex ports. The Extended Stereo technology produces an exceptionally large audio field and quality construction limits unwanted resonance. The authentic sound and minimal distortion is a result of the digital amplifier, which facilitates a digital audio signal instead of analog.
Yamaha's IntelliAlarm technology truly sets the TSX-140 in a class by itself. This feature makes waking up in the morning a more pleasant prospect. It works by limiting the disturbing high-frequencies when the alarm first goes off, letting you wake gradually. After the initial, less-intrusive alarm, the higher frequencies are added until you hear the full audio spectrum.
The TSX-140 also features LED indicators, which highlight your current settings and indicate which function is in use. There is even a built-in brightness sensor, which adjusts the LED's strength to suit the ambient light in the room. It's finishing touches like these that speak to the visually striking, yet functional nature of the TSX-140.
- Built-In iPod Dock
- The TSX-140 carries the "Made for iPod and iPhone" logo, which means it was designed to connect specifically to an iPod or iPhone and is certified by the developer to meet Apple performance standards. The iPod dock is compatible with multiple generations of iPhone, iPod classic, iPod touch and iPod nano. The dock charges your iPod or iPhone while playing and can be used as the alarm source. It also allows you to control iPod functions with the included remote

- Because the iPod dock is fully digital, audio remains in the digital domain from input, through the TSX-140's DSP stage and all the way to the digital amplifier. No signal degradation enters the audio chain, resulting in lossless audio and Yamaha's Concert Quality Sound

- The TSX-140 has full range twin 3.1" speakers with bass-reflex port and Yamaha's own 15W + 15W digital amplifier, which delivers pristine audio and ample volume. The Extended Stereo technology reproduces an exceptionally large stereo audio field and careful construction eliminates unwanted resonance. Yamaha's proprietary Music Enhancer software adds depth and excitement to compressed program material and you can reach just the right sound with the parametric equalizer
- iPod / iPhone Computer Sync Capability
- When the TSX-140 is connected to your computer via USB, it acts as a docking station allowing you to sync your iPod / iPhone to your computer without using the standard white sync cable from Apple
- CD Player
- The TSX-140 includes a slot-in CD player. It can be used with the alarm and is compatible with audio CD, MP3 and WMA formats. It reads CD, CD-R and CD-RW media
- AM / FM Tuner With 10 Station Presets
- The TSX-140 features five station presets (530 - 1710 kHz frequency range) for AM and five station presets (87.5 - 107.9 MHz frequency range) for FM. The tuner can also be used with alarm feature

- The USB connector allows alternative MP3 players to be used and there is also an AUX 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack input for external analog devices

- Ease into your day with a sophisticated approach to waking up. Yamaha's IntelliAlarm wakes you gently with the audio source of your choosing, first filtering out uncomfortable high frequencies, then gradually restoring the full audio spectrum before beeping to ensure you get up on-time
- Digital Clock & LED Indicators
- In addition to the illuminated digital clock display and top-panel buttons, the TSX-140 features LED indicators that show exactly which function has been selected for simple, fast adjustment. There is also a brightness sensor that automatically adjusts the display LEDs to suit the ambient light level
