The extremely convenient Yamaha YSP-2200 Digital Sound Projector (Black) is low profile enough to fit neatly in front of a TV and is 3D compatible. Enjoy distinct, immersive surround sound from a single speaker bar, along with exclusive Yamaha technologies such as CINEMA DSP, Music Enhancer, and Intellibeam automatic calibration.
The YSP-2200 is only 3 1/8" high, so you can place it in front of most flat screen TVs without blocking the picture. The height-adjustable feet let you achieve optimum positioning. The feet can also be removed. The powerful yet slim subwoofer can be used vertically or horizontally, so you can place it inside or outside a rack. The sound of the subwoofer has been tuned to perfectly match the YSP-2200.
With a built-in 132W digital amplifier that efficiently drives all channels, an aluminum body that dampens vibrations, precision sound tuning and optimum subwoofer matching, the YSP-2200 delivers 7.1-channel surround sound with outstanding clarity and linearity. The design is more elegant and less obtrusive than multiple speaker boxes.

Used in conjunction with a wall mounted 58 inch Panasonic plasma that uses HDMI 1.4 in a family room. High wife acceptance factor is a must...clean install, few wires. The only wire that goes to YSP 2200 from the TV is one 3 meter HDMI cable which goes behind the wall. Cable box, Blu Ray, and other sound source, like iPod connect to YSP2200 which sits on a low console, which houses the bass module.
Sound is very clear, especially dialog, when compared to TV speakers. Surround sound effects are surprisingly good. Verizon FIOS HD programming has sound appearing to come from behind you left and right, and above, in addition to the usual right left center info....all from a slim little bar.
This unit is worth every penny in the family room. Simple to operate, clean looking, no custom installs of surround speakers, no dedicated AVR, or preamp/amp units, dedicated left right center speakers, no large subwoofer taking up space on the floor. This is the 80-90% solution for every day use. For my wife, it is a 98% solution. If there were no wires, and the functions could be integrated into the Motorola cable box remote (I have never tried, so I don't know if that is a limitation), she would be 100% happy.

The sound is tinny and hollow and the unit doesn't automatically change sound modes based on the source - have to constantly change modes manually. Maybe I'm biased based on the fact we have a full home theater system in another part of our house. That said there are less costly units that would perform just as good. Also, why are there manual settings when you have an auto setup feature?

This is the third soundbar for my condo I've purchased, and will be the last. While the others have been nice upgrades to my t.v. speakers, this far outranges anything else I've heard. The sound is crystal clear and I'm discovering sounds in movies I wasn't even aware exsisted. And the surround effects? Truely amazing - the gap between this and a conventional surround system has become much closer.
And I love the HDMI connections that bring all my devices together.
But honestly, I expected no less from Yamaha.

This product s everything they claim and them some...I did a head to head test against the Bose system ($1500) and the Yamaha smoked it in every way. Buy one and start experiencing the other half of your audiovisual world.

This is the perfect solution for home theater with a 50"+ flat screen in a medium-size room. I have a larger Yamaha YSP-4100 sound projector in my own house, which, frankly, gives too much sound for our 400 square foot media room. I put the YSP-220 in a similar-sized room in my mother's place, and it seems perfectly calibrated for the space--rich, 3D sound with strong bass.

My wife and I enjoy the various surround sound modules. Unfortunately the surround sound appears to be too real in that my wife thinks that some sounds emanating from around us are external whereas it actually is coming from the sound bar.

Just moved into a new house and hung a 60" Sharp Aquos and needed to add something for surround sound. The intellibeam is amazing...you totally hear sounds bouncing off the wall. Movies are great and so are just the every day TV shows. Noticed it the other day watching football and some cool sound effects.

Comments about Yamaha YSP-2200 Digital Sound Projector (Black):
I use the sound projector with my 50" Plasma HDTV. Ordered this to try it out as I was not satisfied with the sound from the HDTV, which had the speakers on the back of the TV. After getting this, I have stopped using the TV speakers and only use the sound from the Yamaha SP. Did not require a really big sub-woofer as use this in an apartment, so the sub-woofer that came with this product was fine for me. Setting up the surround audio was simple as long as you follow the steps. Use this product in a room that has the wall on the right far out compared to the left wall. I was initially skeptical about the effectiveness of the surround sound with this room, but it works fine after proper setup. Different modes while watching movies, TV shows are also easy to select and you can hear considerable difference in the modes. Overall the sound is clear and crisp and you can hear and feel the Yamaha quality in it. The multiple HDMI inputs and outputs were perfect for my use with the TV, PS3, DVD player, and aux HDMI in (for laptop). If you are looking for sound projectors, this one is on the top of the line. I have heard other sound projectors, and I think only the Bose one is better, but way costlier also. Just wish this one was a couple of [$] cheaper!

Comments about Yamaha YSP-2200 Digital Sound Projector (Black):
A great product. I upgraded my system in my medium-sized bedroom. I wanted all the "bells and whistles" and only higher-end equipment. I was torn between having new speakers installed or a soundbar. I went with a soundbar because of the size of the room. After investigating other brands I decided on the Yamaha YSP-2200 because of the high customer ratings, sub-woofer included, and my merchant/installer recommendation. I had my entire system professionally installed so, of course, I had no problems with this soundbar's installation. Wish I could say the same for the different brand/other equipment I purchased at the same time (Samsung LED 3D TV, Samsung Blue Ray 2D 3D DVD player, and Sennheiser HDR 180 wireless headphones). All of which are the other brands' higher-end equipment. With the other brands, nothing has worked properly or as expected. Now, almost two months later, my setup is still giving me and the merchant/installer problems and, as a result, is incomplete. The only equipment in my new setup working properly and to my expectations is the Yamaha YSP-2000. Now I'm thinking I should have gone Yamaha all the way!

Easy to set up, sounds great; I was tired of running wires all over and the wireless sound systems are still too expensive. My Sony TV automatically directs the sound to the Yamaha unit at startup, even though it's older and doesn't have sound control through HDMI (ARC). Get the iPhone/Pod dock if you have one of these, it's worth it for the convenience.
The only thing I am missing is an output for headphones. But it makes up in quality overall.

We purchased the YSP-2200 to compliment the HDTV in our great room. The Yamaha unit does a great job considering the extensive use of hard surfaces in our great room, vaulted ceilings and in particular the irregular room shape. A full surrond sound system will be a condsideration at a later date for a home theater system planned for another room. Again, we are extremely happy with the Yamaha YSP-2200 and would highly recommend this system to anyone with similar needs.

Comments about Yamaha YSP-2200 Digital Sound Projector (Black):
I got this DSP to substitute for the poor speakers in my large-screen LCD TV, and to tide me over with a nice bedroom setup until I can build a true home theater in a bigger room. I have been delighted with it. Fits nicely atop my dresser (and directly below the wall-mounted TV), with subwoofer vertically beside it. Easy setup, avoids running speaker wires around the room (and trying to find places to put extra speakers), and surprisingly great sound for the speaker sizes -- with plenty of power. Very spacious sound, but haven't really detected a "surround" sensation; however, this may be an artifact of having my listening position so close to the back wall. Lots of listening modes that I still need to research and explore. Rather pricey, but worth it -- a perfect solution for my mini-theater dream.

My TV is a high end plasma. My wife didn't want me to set up a Home Theater system with speakers, etc. I had to do something as TV's speakers were not very good. So I bought this unit instead.
Sound is awesome. Maybe it's just me, but the digital signal the Plasma gets seems to be better than the one it used to directly receive from cable DVR and Blu Ray DVD Player.
Also, before I bought this unit, I contacted Yamaha TS several times with different questions about this model. They were really helpful.
Very happy I bought the YSP-2200BL.

Impressed with mic that you use to set up the system for YOUR listening area. Unit samples the response that mic receives and sets it up automatically. You may also manually adj the setup as well. Numerous options for your listening pleasure regarding type of show you're watching. Yamaha has a history of reliability so expect to get years of service from this unit.

Setup in 5 min to get average performance.
Small unit in front of TV, but sounds come from everywhere.
yes, real surround.
some other soundbar i used had good sound range..bass..etc
but non of them provide real surround effect.
I meant it, through the manual setup, you can hear the sound beam move around as they really come from the corner where nothing placed there.
Let make it simple.
I thought someone came into the door behind me when i played a game.
What do you think?
Great sound quality.
Good Output support.
7.1 decoder
can auto setup quickly
or manual setup for better perfromance
But don't order from here, slow and expensive

If your are the typical home owner with a big screen TV wanting to 'hear' that movie theater sound in your own house without breaking the bank... then look no further. This one performs as advertised! Oh, and did say it looks like a million bucks!
