The Vello ActionPan Professional Grade Stabilizing Action Grip allows you to hold your camera down low when filming skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, auto racing, motocross, BMX/FMX and even when boating. Besides just facilitating a novel filming perspective, the ActionPan will steady your shot as well. It can be used with most SLR cameras or camcorders (with max height of 4.5") that feature a 1/4"-20 tripod mount. The 1/4"-20 screw on the bracket is adjustable, to better accommodate cameras of different configurations.
The ActionPan features a shock-proof rubber handle that alleviates stress by offering a comfortable, secure grip. There's also a finger groove for securing grip, as well as non-slip rubber rails for further securing your camera to the mount. As an added bonus, the ActionPan is equipped with a removable accessory shoe mount on the top, which can hold your video light, camera flash or external microphone. If you plan to capture action sports from any angle, especially low angles, the ActionPan is a must have.

the cons are weak cold shoe which doesnt tight enough such lighting firmly and could fall off, plus the plastic used is a bit flexible and swings around when you move it fast. I wish this grip was made of aluminium and I will definitely give it 5 stars.

When I received my action pan stabilizer I was a little concerned that it was constructed of plastic, but when I became more familiar with it and putting it to the test in the woods and on the water I soon realized that it was a great purchase. It is one durable, light weight piece of equipment. It's light enough that my arm doesn't get worn out from filming and sturdy enough that I am not afraid to use it in extreme conditions. Overall, for the price, this is as good as it gets. I highly recommend this product!

Gave it 5 starts since it is good at what it does.They show it used with a DSLR but unless your subject is always going to be the same distance then you need to find a way to use this with two hands so you can focus with your DSLR. Probably not an issue with a regular video camera since they don't have the same auto focus issues like DSLR do.
Unit is solid though.

I use this for filming skateboarding with my 7D and 17/55 f2.8. This is a relatively heavy set up, but this handle supports it excellently, and for a cheap price. I like the mountable hotshoe. No complaints thus far.

I bought 2 of these..great price..good and useful,,used with my DSLR ..very handy top cold shoe..
but both of these have strong weird gasoline like smell.,,

Very stable and comfortable to use. Good for hand held sweeping shots, hanging out cars and other in motion shots.
Don't plan on being able to use your zoom though. The lens rests on the base so you are pretty much stuck where you lock it in.

I used this product for some DSLR shooting. Was nice for some simple panning/sweeping shots. The hotshoe mount on the top was useful for an HD monitor.
My only recommendation is that it had a counterweight on the bottom. You could potentially rig one but it could block access to the camera mount screw. All in all not bad

I've been using a video camera to have friends shoot my music videos for years. Finally I decided to buy the Vello handle and guess what? It makes shooting videos much easier because the handle gives the camera person more control over what they are shooting which makes for more creative freedom. Like a steering wheel on a car helps with its agility.....the Vello allows you to shoot from any angle giving stability to the footage and shots that would be impossible without it.

Bought this for a snowboarding shoot and I't worked wonders. easy to use, light weight,and sturdy. I used this with a DSLR and I had no problems at all. can be used in alot of diffrent ways. and has the ability to add lights or a monitor to the top of the handle if you want to get a better shot

I got this item for what would be the first of many video shoots I pan to do with my DSLR. While there are better incarnations out there that are far more customizable. Starting off this is the best option if you don't have a lot of gear you need to tack on.
One unexpected bonus is that it is easy to lash to my camera gear pack in a similar manner to a tripod.
