Comments about Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask:

I have been scanning my film using a 5dmk3 which has yielded brilliant results, however, the most painful part of the process is keeping the film flat. With this it makes it very fast and easy to hold the film in place and scan it. The product seems well built and durable. This mask however will not let you scan to the edges of your film so you can't get the border if you wanted that. Also my archival sheet holds 4 frames per strip but this will only let you scan 3 at a time.

Comments about Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask:

This works better on my v700 than both the OEM holds and the better scanning holders with the glass. Might be my personal copy of the scanner, but the oem ones are horrible and the better scanning ones even with the glass still give me anti-newton rings. This does occasionally give me moire, but I just have to reposition the negative and holder and it is fixed.

Comments about Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask:

This product is certainly more sturdy than the medium format film holder that comes with the Epson V700 / V750. But in my opinion it doesn't allow you to scan the borders of the film any more than the Epson holder does, which is the specific reason I wanted to try this film holder.

Other than this, the product works fine and it's recommendable for people who need an medium format film holder.

Comments about Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask:

Well, I don't normally buy Lomography products, but I needed something like this and bought both the 35mm and 120 sizes. I was pleasantly surprised. Build quality is great and they're easy to use, with the magnets.

I have only one complaint, which is that since the lower end Epsons only put the transparency unit down the middle of the bed, and this isn't like the normal holder that extends out to the side, it is very difficult to get it exactly straight on the scanning bed. I'll need to cut some cardboard piece or something to space it out from the side.

Despite this, I am giving this one 5 stars where I gave the 35mm only 4, because the 120 adapter has the very useful feature of letting me scan three 6x6 frames, where the V500's included adapter only shows two frames at a time - even though the V500's transparency unit is long enough for three. Binder pages for 120 film take strips of three. So with just the Epson holder, I need to cut a strip of three, scan two, reload the strip and scan the last one, and this holder saves that step.

This product is well designed to fit the film and make alignment easy but it doesn't actually work in my scanner because of its size. Only buy it if you're certain your scanner will accept something so bulky.

Comments about Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask:

I currently copy my negatives 'ghetto style' - as it is called. I hold the negatives up by a bright window and photograph them. At first I was using artist's tape to keep them flat on vellum paper. That was too much handling and I got the texture of the paper in my images (not that it was the most terrible thing).
The DigitaLiza holders keep the negatives nice and flat - and keep them from being overly handled and getting scratched.
So, whether you have a proper scanner for negatives or not, if you like old school photography these film holders are really helpful!
