The VE228H 21.5" LCD Widescreen Computer Display from ASUS is a desktop computer monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The display features a modern design, highlighted by a glossy black frame and smooth desktop stand. Built-in stereo speakers provide audio output.

One of my laptops has only VGA output and the VE228H flickers - harder to tell when white background of most browsers/applications.

For the price, I'm very impressed overall. Speaker sound quality is nothing to get excited about, but I didn't need much. The volume buttons are shared with the contrast buttons, and it's not clear how you select which you want to adjust, but eventually it adjusts what you want. We've just turned the monitor volume all the way up, and control it from the computer.

If you're looking for a solid 1920x1080 monitor at a budget price there is no reason not to consider the VE228H 21.5" widescreen LED backlit monitor from ASUS.
Don't count on it at all for audio, use external speakers for that. Pleased with very fast delivery from B&H Photo Video. Great price, nice product, good overall experience thus far. I purchased two and use in a dual-screen setup for Windows 7 Pro. I have a high-end computer (Serenity model) from Puget Systems with Nvidia graphics to drive the dual-displays. If you're buying a new PC then go straight to Puget Systems, incredible product.

I use this monitor for traditional non-gaming home use. Great for viewing HD video, pictures, etc from my desktop and laptop computers. Also displays great picture quality with satellite television input. Purchased first VE228H monitor more than 1 year ago. Decided to purchase the same one for consistency of look, use, and performance. Interface and software are slightly different, but overall a fantastic product. Well more than I need for my home use display purposes.Only problem I ever had was a smacked the display really hard with a USB port cable. Did not crack the display. Very minimal damage. Pixels survived unaffected, material covering the affected pixels show signs of blemish <1mm^2 area

The Asus VE228H 21.5" Widescreen LED Backlit LCD Monitor so far appears to be a very nice product. The picture resolution appears good. However, when I viewed a film over NetFlix I was disappointed that the picture does not occupy the whole screen which is not so large to begin with, but is rather, more like "movie theater" style(rectangular) with "black space" on top and bottom. One reason I bought this product was because it has internal speakers however the speakers are just a bit better than audible when sitting right in front of the monitor, which is disappointing. The cable(s) that connect the monitor to the main power outlet and to the CPU are so short that I cannot even close my computer armoire right now (which means I have to go out and buy longer, replacement cables, thus increasing the price of the product). I think the company should be more generous with it's customers and especially if selling an internal speaker system and be considerate of the customer so that what is advertised is actually usable and enjoyable. Finally, the sidecontrols on the (labels to identify the controls/buttons) are not visible without a magnifying glass because the print is gray against the "glossy black frame". I just don't think the product manufacturer made this product with consumer convenience and comfort in mind.

Noting wrong with his display, and the price is low. I bought it with a Mac mini, since even the new iMac displays have refection problems. This one is a true matte display. I can also use the Mac mini at several locations with displays for different purposes.

The monitor works as expected. It was plug and play. I had to subtract a star since it did not include an HDMI cable. I had to purchase that separately. The cost of the cable was nominal, but it arrived a few days later.
Monitors arrived the day after I placed the order. Impressive in light that this was 1-2 days after Hurricane Sandy and I selected least expensive shipping method.
