With its aluminum alloy leg tubes and top casting, the Manfrotto 294 Aluminum Tripod is a sturdy support for a DSLR or other camera. When the three leg sections and center column are fully extended, the tripod reaches a maximum height of 66.5", and its load capacity of 11 lb makes it a good choice for larger cameras. The tripod weighs 4.2 lb, and folds down to 23.6" for transport.

The three-section 294 tripod's universal 3/8"-16 stud makes it ready to attach to most tripod heads. An anti-shock collar protects your camera from accidental impact when the center column is retracted quickly.

            solid tripod

Comments about Manfrotto 294 Aluminum Tripod:

Has lots of features. Very versatile, though heavy. I guess carbon fiber tripods are better. But its very solid. I use it with my dslr and a smooth-motion head.

Comments about Manfrotto 294 Aluminum Tripod:

Ok this isn't the very best but it will hold a reasonable camera lens solid! The legs slide out EASILY and the locks are easy to operate and hold solid. Fully deployed you can lean on this tripod and it feels solid. This clearly is not a the throw away tripods other vendors throw in free with a camera purchase.

This would be a good starter tripod that you can really use to take pictures that really need a tripod. It's not the lightest weight but it is easy to carry.

Comments about Manfrotto 294 Aluminum Tripod:

So it was time to get a "grown-up" tripod, as the box store bought one i had been using for my DSLR just wasn't cutting it and after much research, i settled on Manfrotto's 290 series and the 294 in particular. It is a bit on the heavy side, but it is sturdy and opens up to a height where i don't have to bend over to see through my view-finder (unless i want to). Overall, this is a good solid, well built peice of equipment that i'm sure to have for years to come.

Weekend hobbyist who shoots is many environments. Good steady tripod for my Canon 7D. Construction is solid and workmanship is the quality I would expect from Manfrotto. Not too heavy to carry around all day. Very pleased with the purchase.
