Designed as a lightweight and affordable alternative to more cumbersome dolly tracks, the Glidetrack SD -- standard duty -- gives you the power to create smooth, Hollywood-like tracking shots. Whether attached to a tripod (via the 1/4" or 3/8" mounting thread) or resting on its two scratch-free feet, the SD makes the most of its simple, industrial-grade design. Ideal for video-enabled DSLRs and small-to-medium-sized camcorders, the Glidetrack SD adds a crucial new ingredient to your visual cookbook.

Use it with a single or double-tripod set-up, or standalone on its custom-made scratch-free feet.
The carriage can be locked in position using the small adjuster on the side of the carriage.
By mounting your Glidetrack at one end, you can do pseudo crane moves on the fly.

I love this slider. Yes, it is a bit more expensive than other sliders, but it is well worth it. It is made of high quality materials that not only let your camera slide very smooth, but can also be used in a number of locations. You don't have to worry about breaking it because of its solid form.

I personally bought the 30" Glidetrack. Most people might want a longer track, but in reality sliding shots shouldn't be too long. It creates an amazing cinematic effect that you wouldn't want to over-do.

This is the equipment I use on my Glidtrack:

    Proline Dolica Tripod Head
    Canon 60D with a grip
    Canon 24-70 f2.8L

Thats a pretty heavy setup, but the Glidetrack is able to support it. For even smoother sliding shots, sometimes I take off the grip to reduce the weight. Overall, this is a great product for filmmakers on a budget, but want quality equipment!

    I tested both Glidtrack 30" & 40" mdoels.
The 30" is plenty of length for cinematic shots and easily balances securely on single tripod using Manfrotto 501 head. Compact for travel as well.
40" would require (2) tripods for steady use.

In both cases the shortcomings I found were:
    •low foot clearance
•difficult to get clean consistent slide ball bearingless
•no bumpers at end of rails so sldie comes to abrupt stop
    • way too much lateral play in carriage, you are left to "balance" the camera during your move.

I am not sure if my glide track is defective or not, I've had it for about 3 weeks and I am right on the border of returning it. I had to play around with an allen wrench for half an hour before it got anywhere close to a "glide". I don't know why these get decent reviews, they seem pretty lousy. I've heard similar things from other video-makers.

This slider is a little sticky when using a good tripod head. If you push it perfectly straight it is fine. But if you try a pan while sliding, it likes to stick.

Comments about Glidetrack SD - 30" Slider:

I use this on all my video shoots, both mounted on a tripod and on a variety of surfaces. 30" was perfect for me.

I love this slider! I was going to buy the Atlas 10 slider which is also a great product (based on my research) but, I couldn't go ahead with it when I found out about Glidetrack. One main difference between the two sliders is the Atlas 10 uses ball bearings for it's carriage motion.

This slider is very solid, mounts beautifully and easily to my Davis & Sanford tripod (great tripod BTW - PROVISTA18 ProVista Tripod with FM18 Head) and just works great. It's just what I needed.

The shoots are very nice with this piece of hardware, but doesn't work on grass or outdoors, the legs are too short and any little stone can stop the slider.

I used a few different sliders and this one is pretty good. I use this at social and corporate events and it works with our DLSRs and any number of glass including our 70-200. Just push or pull it from the actually carriage instead of from the camera and it works perfectly...and even vertically too.

Comments about Glidetrack SD - 30" Slider:

I've been shooting video for a little over a year and this is the first slider I've used. Having initially started with a lot of hand-held shots, I've gradually moved to almost exclusively shooting with a variety of stabilized platforms. The Glidetrack is a great value and really does increase the production value with very short and simple moves. My only issue is that the slider has a few "hitch points" along the track that. It is very slight and isn't an issue if the move from end to end takes less than a few seconds. But if I'm trying a slow move (e.g., 5 s over 30") -- it's hard enough to make this move consistent, but the little hitches make it extremely difficult. I have since had the opportunity to play with some more expensive sliders (Cinevate), which seem to have a smoother feel. I'm not sure if this just happens to be manufacturing tolerances at play here or not. But overall, a good value. I'm keeping mine if that's any indication of how I feel about it!

Its is light weight, it was juts a little sticky. I can say i havent put a nice tripod head on it yet. Just used it for one shoot great portability, decent construction for the price.

I am not completely sold but like i said i need to use it with a really string head mounted on it. I mounted it on my 501 and needed more heft in my legs. Tried mounting it on a 701 manfrotto and it was to flimsy pretty much worthless. YOU NEED A BIG HEAFTY TRIPOD AND HEAD.

On it i just used a ball head ad it was ok. NOt steller but worked. If you get this i suggets the 38' over this one - its just not compact enough to save 8 inches and get big solid tripod head and legs to mount it on.

I think a manfrotto 701 head will work better on it then a simple ball head

Great product for my 7D. Can be tricky to balance with heavy lenses. Once you have the balance right it creates a beautiful image. The rails are very delicate so be careful not to get any dings as that will create a bump when gliding.

Good light weight piece of equipment that allows for some versatility in shooting. I would recommended having objects in the foreground to enhance the look of the movement. If you are using a single tripod, I would recommend using some sand bags for greater stability.

Works great, but as with anything else takes practice and a steady hand.

Only problem I had was one of the screw holes to connect the feet was misaligned.
