Comments about Vivitar Hot Shoe for 285HV Flash:

Fixed my 1978 Vivitar 285 flash hot shoe that had a broken foot. This replacement is a stronger design than the original. Additional plastic supports front of connecting foot (see photo).
Requires careful soldering of four small wires. I temporaily removed one solder contact to prevent melting of the surrounding plastic (see photo).

          Hot shoe

Comments about Vivitar Hot Shoe for 285HV Flash:

So my son broke off my old hot shoe, and though some people recommend the metal replacement, it can't be used directly on the camera, so I decided to get this, which pretty much is identical to the original one that lasted 30 years, so what the heck. You will need a tiny phillips screw driver to remove the old one, and after you remove the wires (I recommend soldering them off so you retain the full length), you'll need a soldering iron and solder to attach the new shoe. Took a few minutes, but I finally got it. Works like a champ now.

Comments about Vivitar Hot Shoe for 285HV Flash:

This is an OEM Vivitar replacement hot shoe for the 285 and 285HV (mine was the 285). It works perfectly, but does require some soldering skill to connect. Just be sure to pre-solder the wire ends and the contacts before soldering together (otherwise you will need 3 hands).

Comments about Vivitar Hot Shoe for 285HV Flash:

A little difficult to install due to the small working areas. My flash was still in good working condition but I broke off the shoe. Found this replacement and re-soldered it onto the flash. Works great.
