With the Vello Universal Duo TTL Off-Camera Flash Cord (6.5') you can set up a single flash for off-camera lighting and retain your entire camera's TTL (through the lens) flash functions. Multiple contact pins support TTL-compatible flashes used with Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Pentax and some Samsung digital cameras. The off-camera hot shoe can mount to accessory shoes or 1/4" 20 threaded studs on tripods, booms, or light stands.
In Manual mode (non-TTL function) you can use two flashes together, both synchronized with your shutter release to create amazing lighting effects and two-light setups. Each terminal has a hot shoe so you can still keep one flash on the camera while setting up the other flash somewhere else.
Note! Flash units must be compatible with each other (if using two) and with the camera for synchronization to take place. TTL functions work only in single flash setups.
This cord works with flash units from the following manufacturers with cameras listed above: Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Fujifilm, Sunpak, Sigma, Metz, and Samsung (non-SEF series).

Comments about Vello Universal Duo TTL Off-Camera Flash Cord (6.5'):
I bought this cable so I can hold the flash with one hand and the camera with another in order to get more interesting shadows on the subject.
The cool thing of this cable is that you can still "park" your flash on top of the camera as normal plus you can you two flashes at the same time.
This is a must have if you own an off camera flash.

Comments about Vello Universal Duo TTL Off-Camera Flash Cord (6.5'):
So as an update to my previous review here, I have been able to get the 580EX II to work intermittently, sometimes it gives me TTL, other times only full power, I've tried to ascertain if this is due to connection method etc., but it just seems to be random... it still works 100% of the time (TTL) with the 550EX and 580EX (version I) flashes, but is hit and miss with the 580EX II. Also it seems to work more often on the 5D Mark II (1 in 2-3x) and less often with the 7D and 5D Mark III (1 in 5x).

Comments about Vello Universal Duo TTL Off-Camera Flash Cord (6.5'):
So I've been using this cord for a couple months now on various types of shoots/use cases. I shoot Canon DSLRs (7D, 5D2, 5D3) with the original 580EX, the 580EX II version and 550EX speedlights.
When using this with only ONE flash off camera (not using both shoes as it mentions when using two that they only fire in manual mode) For some strange reason, I do NOT get TTL with this cable using the 580EX II; it seems to fire at full power only if the flash is set to ETTL (TTL). It fires fine in Manual mode however as this is a dedicated TTL cable and works perfectly fine with the TTL with either the 550EX or orginal 580EX (first version), it should do the same with the 580EX II. I am keeping the cable because I don't NEED to use a 580EX II as I have other speedlights but as it's my most powerful and fastest recycler, it would be NICE for this to work with the 580EX II.
I've tried multiple power-up scenarios; camera powered on then cable attached, then power-up flash; connect the cord first, then power-up both; and 20 other scenarios yet none will give me TTL with the 580EX II.
Again, I get TTL with both the 550EX and original 580EX (first version); depending on the scenario, ambient lighting; distance to subject I've found I have to adjust the flash exposure compensation (FEC) +/- 2/3rds to one full stop...but this is typical on camera as well.
I have (2) 580EX IIs, (4) 550 EX and (2) 580 EX original version speedlights. I get TTL on all but BOTH 580EX IIs so I don't think it is an issue with my flash(es).
The cable is well made; both ends connect securely and the metal shoes are strong. I would not buy this however if my only speedlight(s) was a Canon 580EX II and need TTL for handheld, off- camera bracket scenarios. If it worked with the 580EX II in TTL mode I would give it 5 stars. Yes, I put I would recommend for other flashes, just not for the 580EX II.

Comments about Vello Universal Duo TTL Off-Camera Flash Cord (6.5'):
This item is great for moving the flash off-camera and still keeping full e-ttl control.
Notice however that the cord is designed to be kept hanging and not roll on the ground, so careful movement is required if you are going to stretch it.
The other end (the one off the camera) got a screw in the bottom so it can be mounted, and has a groove so it would be placed in a cold shoe.
One point though about the plastic mount which connects to the hotshoe of the camera: it is hard to fit it in - I'm afraid to use force often and would break one day.
The lock mechanism is a knob and not a switch.
Weirdly, when connecting the cord to the hotshoe on camera, the wire extension goes from the front and not the back (i.e. it hangs out on the lens side and not the LCD side). I find it somehow awkward that way as sometimes it can dangle in front of the lens.

Comments about Vello Universal Duo TTL Off-Camera Flash Cord (6.5'):
Quality made, built like a Mack truck. The 6' cord is strong enough to tow a car, if needed,(ha,ha), and it fits and works like it's supposed to, for My Nikon D3200..
Sometimes a built slave function won't work, camera in harsh sunlite. Now use the cable.
As of now No problems..
