The Vello TTL-Off-Camera Flash Cord provides creative photographers with the ability to remotely fire off-camera Canon Speedlites. Removing the flash from the camera's hot shoe allows the photographer to create unique and dramatic lighting styles that are not possible with a traditional shoe-mounted strobe.
One side of the TTL cable fits directly into the camera's hot shoe to ensure that all of the camera's exposure data is maintained. The other side can be attached to any stand, tripod, or device with a standard 1/4"-20 threaded stud or flash shoe mount.
This coiled cord measures 3' (1 m), allows for handheld shooting at arm's length, and provides extra length for flash brackets with longer positioning arms.
Other available lengths are:
| Cord Length |
3.0' (1.0 m) extended 1.0' (35 cm) relaxed |

This was the highest quality camera cable accessory I have ever personally purchased. Every aspect of this item's construction was top notch: the shoes, shoe tightening/latching mechanism, cable thickness & flexibility, the electrical contacts on both ends, the sturdy construction of the shoe including a plated metal base plate. When I first got this cord I was very impressed with the build quality and thought it was foolish to spend so much more for a genuine Canon product. After all, it's really just an extension cord, right?
Well…
…during first event job I used it on it worked great for the first few hours and then my images started becoming drastically over exposed. I fiddled with the settings on the camera and flash to no avail. Finally I decided to just use the flash mounted directly to my camera and everything was fine again.
So I figured the cord was destined for the trash heap.
A few days later I tried to duplicate the problem but was unable to do so.
So while it's still in my camera bag, i must say, I don't really feel like I can trust it.
Now my reaction may seen odd to you but after many years of cussing at bad PC cords, it seemed that for such a low price that maybe I should just have two. SO I bought a second one.
I know, it may seem a bit crazy but considering the price of the Canon branded cord, I figure I'm still saving a bunch.

Got the cord to use when using my flash on the bracket instead of directly on the shoe. Works fine, pretty sturdy, nice length - doesn't get in the way of the lens.

Comments about Vello TTL-Off-Camera Flash Cord for Canon EOS - 3' (1 m):
Good quality and less expensive than the Canon option. When coiled up it feels short. I would suggest getting the longer version if you will mount anywhere but a dual shoe bracket mounted to the camera.

This product does what it says it will do with aplomb. The length of the cord is ideal (1 meter, 3 Feet). I use it on an extra tall Stroboframe flash bracket, there is no strain on the cord at all, unlike the shorter ones I have used in the past.

The longer cord than that of the Canoon model is an advantage. Constructions seems fine and I have stretched the cord out to a max and it retained it's shape with no problem. Shoe connections are fine with no slop. Much cheaper than Canon as well.

Comments about Vello TTL-Off-Camera Flash Cord for Canon EOS - 3' (1 m):
I will start off by saying that the cord does exactly what it says it will do. Retains E-TTL functionality with my speedlight attached. I've not experienced any timing problems when using the cord. The build quality is quite good as well.
My main problem with the cord is that it's coiled, which means that you get significantly less than a meter in length. The cable length, without stretching it, is under a foot. Stretching the cord will give you more length but there will be resistance which means the cord will tug on your camera or your flash. I would strongly advise against using this cord if either your flash or your camera will be mounted on a tripod. Given enough time, one of the two WILL hit the ground because of the cord.
If you're in the market for an off camera flash solution, I would recommend going wireless or buying an uncoiled TTL cord.

I was surprised at how well made this cord is for the price. The cable is very thick and coils up nice. The plastic parts do not have a junk feel to them. The lock for the shoe is very sturdy and snaps in nice. I have had no issues with ttl performance and all works great.

Comments about Vello TTL-Off-Camera Flash Cord for Canon EOS - 3' (1 m):
I am a Canonista and shoot with a 7D. While learning about light and flash, I realized the importance of side light. One of the mentors recommended a TTL extension cable to, at least, be able to hold my Speedlite off to the side. So, for the low price, I ordered the Vello with 3 foot cable to try. It works great. No problems with the TTL light/camera interface. It would be nice if Vello or someone would offer a grip handle for the Speedlite to attach to the solid tripod mount built in to the cable attachment. Being a mechanical guy, I'll make my own. Why? It's easy enough to grasp the Speedlite; but I'd rather avoid blocking the Speedlite's front setting lights plus a little better balance. Main thing is for a very reasonable price the Vello cable does the TTL link nicely and is mechanically well-engineered. And, as usual, B&H processed the order accurately and ahead of time.

No issues whatsoever using my Canon 60D and 430EXII flash. I like to experiment with low-key lighting and it's so much easier to use than the built-in transmitter of the 60D(which is great BTW but takes a couple of steps).
