Having come from the world of film/cinema where shooting "double system" sound is customary, I wanted a way to have both in-camera sync and double system at the same time when shooting video with the Canon 5DMkII.

With the Sescom LN2MIC-ZMH4N I can record double system with the H4N while, at the same time record high-quality, usable audio directly into the camera.

In this way, if I'm satisfied with the in-camera audio I can dispense with the annoying, time-consuming task of syncing the H4N audio to the 5DMkII video. A real time saver.

And, the Sescom unit turns the in-camera audio signal into something usable and of high quality versus the poor audio that DSLRs record natively.

When coupled with a good off-camera microphone DSLR audio delivers what DSLR video already does.

The headphone monitor jack is also a big plus.

For any serious DSLR videographer wanting usuable in-camera sound recording the LN2MIC-ZMH4 is a must have accessory in the kit.

I got this with the H4n dSLR kit. The inputs and outputs are clearly marked. However, the construction of the wire could have been better. 90º joints for should have been used so less wire is sticking out from the side of the dSLR. That brings up an issue for the videographer if he or she is moving around a lot, since the wires are more vulnerable to break from being bumped on items.

Comments about Sescom LN2MIC-ZMH4-MON Line Out to Camera Mic In Headphone Tap Cable:

It's a great little cable that give audio monitoring and a nice padded line into my Canon 7D, from the Zoom H2 (upgrading to a Tascam DR-40).

My only con, and it could just be my cable, is that the headphones go in and out, but it's not consistent.

Primarily I use the cable to get line out of my stereo microphones recorder to feed into my DSLR camera. This way I don't have "sync" the sound later. I get the video and sound recorded together. What is great about this cable is that it has a headphone jack to check sound while recording. Great cable that saves cost and time to accomplish the same thing with other gear.

I have just started shooting 1080 video with my Canon DSLR but you have to have good microphones to go with them. My LOCAL camera store said my camera would not record stereo but they were wrong. I told the B&H team I had a Zoom Stereo Audio Recorder & this did the trick and I saved a ton of money by using my existing recorder and camera.

Funny... As photographers we have all this expensive equipment yet it boils down to a little cable like this to make life easier. Get it if you are wanting to plug directly into your DSLR from your Zoom. It worked like a champ for me giving decent audio in camera to match up later in post. Plus, a way to monitor by plugging in your headphones. Nice!

I built my own solution to sent audio from a Zoom outboard recorder to my Canon 5DM2 while simultaneously monitoring the Zoom but eventually bought this instead. The design is simple, elegant and works great, and the built-in -25dB pad brings audio into the camera at perfect levels. Also, the headphone tap for monitoring works great! Only criticism is the fairly high price for what you ultimately get.

It works as advertised, but from time to time, I get a distinct buzz in the DSLR recording that's not present on the Zoom H4N recording.

I also wish the line in cable was longer. Not a problem in most situations, but sometimes, I just need to have the Zoom more than six inches away from the camera.

I'd been searching for a few weeks before I found a solution that linked me to this product. and after reading some reviews I took the plunge and bought it. WOW!! it solved my audio issues and is giving me an excellent finished product for my DSLR audio. I dont have to sync my audio files from the Zoom H4n but have a backup in case.

It did take a little playing around with my various settings on the mic, H4n and camera but once I got it fine tuned, I got crisp clear good volume audio everytime!

Was a bit worried about the connectors as they appear to be the plastic ones when you view the product graphic but was very pleasantly surprised when it arrived with metal connectors.

being able to monitor what audio goes into the camera is an essential part of recording pro video. I run with a zoom H4N and I like the piece of mind of piping the audio into the camera as a secondary backup in case something goes wrong.

This little cable allows a direct line signal to record beautifully into a DSLR while giving the option to plug in headphones and make sure you're getting no peaking.
