Questions? Ask our experts:

IOGEAR'S USB Xtra Booster Ethernet Extender gives you the power to extend the reach of your USB peripherals beyond the standard 15 feet. Plug one end into your computer, the other into your external device, then connect using up to 246 ft (75m) of standard Cat5, Cat5e or RJ-45 Ethernet cable (not included). The unit's unique signal booster chipset does the rest, preserving your data's integrity and voltage requirements over the length of the cable.

An excellent option for anyone wanting to place a USB device, such as a printer or webcam, further from their computer, the extender works without any special drivers and is both Mac and PC compatible.

Note: Cable not included

Comments about IOGEAR USB Xtra Booster Ethernet Extender:

I bought two of these. One for a USB receipt printer & another to drive the USB interface on a laser cutter.
The USB printer would not work, blip, anything. Windows kept 'finding a new device' & then poof it would be gone. Direct connect with a 10 ft USB cord no problems - Add the extender over 45' of CAT6 cable & problems.
The laser cutter - Worked like a champ - 70' away, no problems. responds to all commands, solid performance.
Both cables were tested without problem [cable tester]. The extenders were switched - The problem stayed with the receipt printer. Guess this device is 100% compatible SOME of the time.

Comments about IOGEAR USB Xtra Booster Ethernet Extender:

I purchased this about 5 weeks ago, I have just opened and plugged it in, no software required apparently. The computer states it is a USB device that it cannot recognise. The camera does not work when it is plugged into this but in the USB on its own it works fine. Cant believe I wasted money on this but I needed to extend my camera 100ft so I thought this was the best way to go, I am now looking for other avenues.

I have it over 100' into another room hooked into a KVM and it does not use any power.

            Nothing bad about this product
