I use this USB microphone for recording outside audio like bird calls and train sounds, voice overs, and interviews directly into a laptop computer with a digital audio recording and editing program. It's much more sensitive than I thought it might be, has excellent frequency response and lots of signal to work with. The desk stand it comes with is handy to use and the included USB cable is plenty long. A very good value for a good price. It works MUCH better than my old dynamic microphones fed into the sound card.

I record my acoustic guitar playing to upload onto YouTube, and wanted an easy to use USB mic with great quality. After tons of searching, I fell upon the ATR2500 and was impressed the day I got it. However, this promises zero latency monitoring (no delay in headphones as you listen to yourself play in real time) - but there was surely a delay, about 1-2 seconds that sounds like a complete echo (used on Audacity).Aside from this issue, it would only work intermittently. I have a Dell PC with Windows 7, and more than half of the time it would say "USB device not recognized", which made it unusable. For the times that my computer DID recognize it, the sound quality was amazing. I am going to exchange this mic for a different one and hopefully have better luck.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR2500-USB Condenser USB Microphone:
I use the mic for voice recording only - nothing fancy. It serves my needs very well with a nice warm sound. It is also good at protecting from pops. I bought a pop guard to go along with it but returned it as it wasn't needed.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR2500-USB Condenser USB Microphone:
I'm using the ATR2500 for my podcasting class and it sounds clearer than most of my classmate's recordings who are using the Blue Snowball, it's fairly comparable to the Blue Yeti though that may be due to some factor related to how they're using it rather than the equipment itself. I'm curious how the ATR2500 compares to the AT 2020 which is what I was debating between, but the price of the 2500 is what made me choose it.
I agree with other reviewers, the included plastic stand is awful, and I bought a standard mic stand which didn't fit so I don't think the threads are a standard size.
Long story short it's great fore the price, the sound is rich and clear with minimal reverb, I'd appreciate a better stand and for the status indicator light to be hidden in the mic like the AT 2020 rather than a blinding blue light on the front.

My daughter wanted a mic to do some vocal work (singing and voice-over). This mic does a perfect job of giving her a tool that she can learn with. The quality of it is very good for the price range.

Please forgive my grammar mistake, but I'd like to recommend this mic :)
I use this mic for recording cover songs, and it works perfectly. sound is clear, not too much noise. much better than my old dynamic one.
The price is good, too.
I've heard before that this mic doesn't work well with win7, but mine just works fine. (win7 home premium 64bit)
It's also really easy to use. just plug in to your computer.
the stander is a little cheap, but I am fine with that.

for the price i don't think you can find a better usb mic. It is not a pro level mic but for voice over scratch track it works great. We are non-profit and have young interens high school and middle school studnet do a lot of video and audio tracks. I love handing this to them and letting them imaginags go with out worring about the gear.
I think we may buy another one.
