I use this USB microphone for recording outside audio like bird calls and train sounds, voice overs, and interviews directly into a laptop computer with a digital audio recording and editing program. It's much more sensitive than I thought it might be, has excellent frequency response and lots of signal to work with. The desk stand it comes with is handy to use and the included USB cable is plenty long. A very good value for a good price. It works MUCH better than my old dynamic microphones fed into the sound card.

I record my acoustic guitar playing to upload onto YouTube, and wanted an easy to use USB mic with great quality. After tons of searching, I fell upon the ATR2500 and was impressed the day I got it. However, this promises zero latency monitoring (no delay in headphones as you listen to yourself play in real time) - but there was surely a delay, about 1-2 seconds that sounds like a complete echo (used on Audacity).Aside from this issue, it would only work intermittently. I have a Dell PC with Windows 7, and more than half of the time it would say "USB device not recognized", which made it unusable. For the times that my computer DID recognize it, the sound quality was amazing. I am going to exchange this mic for a different one and hopefully have better luck.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR2500-USB Condenser USB Microphone:

I use it for podcasting and screen casting. The included stand is awful, but it works very nicely with a boom stand and spider mount. The no-delay headphone jack is a nice touch. If price is a concern but you want a nice microphone for podcasts, this is a great place to begin. You should plan to get a pop filter, not so much for the plosives, but to dim the bright blue LED on the microphone (on a mic boom, the LED is pretty much even with my eyes).

It sounds good for the price. However, it does lack some features. Firstly, there is no mute button, so to make the mic mute, you must either unplug it OR use downloaded software. .................................

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR2500-USB Condenser USB Microphone:

I needed a USB mic and it was between this, or it's inexplicably more expensive brother: AT2020. I went with the ATR2500 because it was half the price and featured zero latency headphone monitoring. From what I've gathered, both mics are otherwise identical. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this thing picks up my deep voice, and it sounds pretty similar to "professional" dynamic xlr mics I've used in recording studios. Very happy with my purchase and would recommend this mic to anyone looking for a high quality convenient recording solution.

It's also worth mentioning that I don't use the included stand unless I'm on the go. This thing plugs right into my surface tablet and makes for a great convenient mobile recording station that sounds just as good as using something like a h4n and xlr mic.

The only con I can imagine is it's blinding blue LED, which doesn't matter if you have a pop filter or some electrical tape to cover it.

        10/10 would buy again

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR2500-USB Condenser USB Microphone:

Connection was quick and easy in Windows 8. Simply plug into any open USB port, and in a few seconds it's working like a charm. However, the mic volume buttons don't work correctly. You have to press down to press up. (??) This appears to be a software / driver issue that could easily be corrected via an update.

The recording quality and gain level is not sufficient for my needs in multitrack recording of guitar and vocals. The overall quality is a fuzzy muffled kind of sound.

It would be fine as a cheap mic for youtube videos, though.

I use it to do voice over work and its crisp and clear. The only issue I have is, make sure you hook headphones up while your using it. The computer will think its a speaker when you do a playback. Also the stand is pretty cheap but what can you do. Overall though very happy with the product.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR2500-USB Condenser USB Microphone:

I sent my ATR2500-USB in for repair this month due do loud popping and static. I got my ATR2500-USB back from Audio-Technica's repair center with NO WORK DONE ON IT.

The note said, "Could not repeat issue in house" and it was sent right back to me... no email or anything.

I plugged it back in to my computer, and it worked ok for about 10 minutes... then it was nothing but popping and loud static again.Same problem as I initially reported.

I suppose if the repair center would have been a little more thorough, they would have seen the problem and perhaps fixed it.

I am beyond frustrated with this company, and I refuse to spend even MORE money to ship this microphone back... just to have it sent right back to me.

I will never buy this brand again, and caution all others against it.

I use this mic for promotional videos showing how I make my custom furniture. I use it strictly for Voice Over audio. It is very clean, low noise. I do wish it had a bit more gain as I have to push the volume a bit during editing, but overall it's very nice, especially considering the low price.

I use the mic for voice recording only - nothing fancy. It serves my needs very well with a nice warm sound. It is also good at protecting from pops. I bought a pop guard to go along with it but returned it as it wasn't needed.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATR2500-USB Condenser USB Microphone:

I'm using the ATR2500 for my podcasting class and it sounds clearer than most of my classmate's recordings who are using the Blue Snowball, it's fairly comparable to the Blue Yeti though that may be due to some factor related to how they're using it rather than the equipment itself. I'm curious how the ATR2500 compares to the AT 2020 which is what I was debating between, but the price of the 2500 is what made me choose it.

I agree with other reviewers, the included plastic stand is awful, and I bought a standard mic stand which didn't fit so I don't think the threads are a standard size.

Long story short it's great fore the price, the sound is rich and clear with minimal reverb, I'd appreciate a better stand and for the status indicator light to be hidden in the mic like the AT 2020 rather than a blinding blue light on the front.

I use this mic for recording cover songs, and it works perfectly. sound is clear, not too much noise. much better than my old dynamic one.
                    The price is good, too.
I've heard before that this mic doesn't work well with win7, but mine just works fine. (win7 home premium 64bit)
It's also really easy to use. just plug in to your computer.
the stander is a little cheap, but I am fine with that.

for the price i don't think you can find a better usb mic. It is not a pro level mic but for voice over scratch track it works great. We are non-profit and have young interens high school and middle school studnet do a lot of video and audio tracks. I love handing this to them and letting them imaginags go with out worring about the gear.

I think we may buy another one.
