The Polaroid Stabilizing Video Mount is a simple stabilization solution for smaller camcorders and digital cameras that shoot video. The adjustable chest/shoulder-brace system makes the jumps and jitters of handheld videography a thing of the past. Made of hardened PVC, the Stabilizing Video Mount employs a spring-tension design for its center column. The chest and shoulder contact points are padded with thick foam for comfort. There's also an adjustable heavy-duty nylon strap that hugs the rig fast to your body, looping under your arms and around your back. You'll find your hands free to handle zoom, focus, lighting, etc.

Mount your camera via the rig's standard 1/4"-20 screw. Designed to handle smaller HD camcorders, most prosumer camcorders, as well as video-capable still cameras, the Stabilizing Video Mount will help keep your shots stable as you move comfortably through long, active days of shooting video.

Snap-on connector allows you to attach and detach the stabilizer from the camera system quickly and easily
Includes a storage pouch for carrying the unit to different shooting locations

I still use Super 8 cameras as well as 35mm film cameras and a Kodak P880 digital still. The video mount is really designed for light weight cameras and some of my S8 movie cameras are just too heavy to be safely held by this mount. That's not a negative against it..........just an observation. I also added another strap to firm up the attachment which also added more safety. The device really does a great job once it's adjusted and comparing shots with and without clearly shows the Mount as being the winner. But remember it's made of plastic and requires some care so nothing breaks..and I might just reinforce the shoulder loop with metal strap so my heavier cameras can be used safely. All in all, considering the price, I think it's a fine product designed for amateur cameras and sure beats carrying a tripod around. Just treat it gently.

I went to the B & H store to find a good support for my camera just to do my home movies. I needed a product that would cost less than $100.00. I suffer from back pain, therefore, after a few minutes of using my camera, my back kills me. So I needed a fast and cheap solution to videotape my New York vacation. The seller first showed me an IKAN that was double the price of this one but similar in appearance. The choice was obvious. The mount gives great stability when placed in the shoulder; but don't expect miracles, if you start walking, the shot will show your steps too. Or if you have the base resting on your stomach, the camera will move with every breath you take. Another negative point is the fact that it is not made for big people. If you are wide, large or heavy, this product may not fit in your body. But for $ this mount does the trick!!! I rest the camera on my shoulders for long shots, better than holding the camera with my hands. Another use I found to this mount is that I could hold it with my hands to do low angle shots, or smooths pan ups or downs.

Comments about Polaroid Stabilizing Video Mount:

It's simply a great little brace with a super price. Can't go wrong with this for a light DSLR. I've shot some very steady stuff with this. Another plus is that it's very easy to get ready to shoot on it, and it's perfect for documentary shoots where you're trying to be unobtrusive.

Comments about Polaroid Stabilizing Video Mount:

I first saw this when working with another DSLR video shooter. I had seen far more expensive units ... for more expensive! Once mounted, he was to use this almost hands free while adjusting mics/audio or lighting. The unit stays balanced and provides a steady mount for shooting b-roll or "hand-held" interviews. This is WELL worth the money. By adding a triple hot shoe adapter, you can use this with a shotgun and light.

It is extremely steady and much more versatile than my monopod. If I need a lower level and I can just crouch or kneel down, which doesn't work with a monopod unless you have time between scenes. I'll be using it mainly for wildlife and the occasional wedding dance.

I can't believe how inexpensive this is, especially considering that the price of video accessories seem to start near $1000 each.

It is mostly plastic But it is well made and sturdy. It takes the load off of your arm and allows you to capture stable video without getting exhausted. With practice you can even get smooth walking shots (easier with wide angle lenses).
Don't hesitate, this will improve your videos and won't hurt your wallet.

              • Tends To Tilt Camera

              Best Uses

Comments about Polaroid Stabilizing Video Mount:

I bought this to try on a three hour (continuous) shoot. The product is sturdy and holds my DVX-100B very well. I added a few washers to the mounting screw to allow for a firm connection of the camera base to the platform. (The mounting screw was longer than the threaded hole on the camera so adding the washers below the platform made up for the extra screw length). Once that was done, the product is solid and secure. It definitely reduces arm fatigue on a long shoot.

The only drawback is the tendency of the unit to tilt right (if used on the right shoulder) since the shoulder rest is not tilted enough to account for a natural shoulder slant. I find myself leaning to the left and raising my right shoulder to keep the camera level. This causes muscle strain in the shoulder when used for a long shoot. I tried adding extra padding but haven't found the right support to make it right.

I will still use it for shorter shoots as it is a solid tool for the low price. For longer shoots, I have used (and recommend) a balanced system such as Glidecam or Steadicam - though they are admittedly much more complex and expensive.

Comments about Polaroid Stabilizing Video Mount:

I bought this stabilizer for my Sony NEX-5N, and found that this device served me better than expected. I was worried that the camera would be mounted too close to my face, but I have plenty of room to view the lcd screen on back of my cam comfortably, and can adjust the camera further from my face. What I find most rewarding about this device is that it is very versatile and allows for a plethora of creative shots. I would say more about the shots I am now allowed to capture, but I'll leave that as an advantage for those who purchase this piece of equipment. My only gripe about this stabilizer is that there is no way of tilting or panning the camera without bending or turning my body. However, It seems as if a fluid head could be mounted to the stabilizer, although I highly suggest NOT to do that. Overall, I am very satisfied with this investment...especially for its price point.

Comments about Polaroid Stabilizing Video Mount:

I was pleasantly surprised with this unit. I am a large person and was a little concerned after reading some of the other comments. However, the unit fits well on my shoulder and works well. I was able to keep the camera steady without excessive arm fatigue. Thus, the unit works as described. The only con would be the price. I saw a similar unit from another company for [$]cheaper, but I would have had to get it from another company. The extra money for this brand is well worth the price from B&H. By the way, B&H had the same price or lower for this brand.

Comments about Polaroid Stabilizing Video Mount:

I enjoyed using this but only for the convenience of not holding my camera up. Even with walking you still get a little shaky.. Overall for the price, I would get it. Depends on what you are shooting.

Comments about Polaroid Stabilizing Video Mount:

I was working on a web series a few weeks back when a grip offered his to me for the day and I was so surprised by how comfortable it was. When he told me the price, I immediately went home and bought one.

The biggest issue is its capacity. I hooked up my 5D, 24-105 L series, a zoom H4 mounted to the camera shoe, and a DCI Run & Gun follow focus (which is heavier than it should be). While the product still worked great, I could see that much more weight would overtax the spring and the arm.

If you're not using a lot of camera peripherals it's and awesome subsitute for, and in fact I would often choose it over the MUCH more expensive and complicated rail systems like RedRock, Zacuto, and Jag35. I highly recommend this product.

I bought this product right before leaving the country for a shoot in Africa. it was so helpful in catching video shots in the jungle. Very comfortable and easy to carry. I recommend it for photo and video shoots where a tripod won't work.

Use it for shooting long sessions to help support the weight of your camera, or to get steady shots in video mode.

It came with a need bag that you can use to carry the mount.

Can't beat it for the price... you wouldn't want to use this for an all day shoot (I"m using the Sony EX3, so it's fairly heavy), but for an hour or so it's a marked improvement over the hand-held camera. One downside is the mounting plate doesn't fit this camera exactly and allows the camera to swivel if you're not careful. Not a huge deal, but slightly annoying.

Listen, the thing costs [$]. You aren't going to get the best product in the world for that price. The mount tends to want to slip off your back and needs a little support sometimes from one of your free hands, but it really isn't a big problem. I'm very happy with it so far!
