It allows the pop-up flash to function even though it is retained in the accessory shoe. Be sure to mount some of the included velcro tape under the front of the prism housing or you may catch and jam some of the screen's black trim in the flash when you close it otherwise.

No problems. Only make sure you don't turn off your pop-up with the diffuser in place or it will jam your flash with diffuser.

It seems to work OK with the "foot" inserted into the flash hotshoe. I did not think it would. This is on a Canon t3i built-in pop up.

The product itself is very lightweight (if a bit flimsy) and portable, but only provides a slight benefit to my flash photography. It stayed on my camera adequately but would've benefitted from the included foam mounts to secure it better. I've learned that I just need to get a Speedlight to get the quality shots that I'm looking for. Was actually thinking about returning this item but unfortunately lost it out shooting an event. $10 lesson learned.
