Product Highlights
  • 1.8 Neutral Density Filter
  • Increase Exposure Length
  • Rugged Black Brass Filter Ring
  • High Quality Schott Glass

The B+W 67mm 1.8 ND 106 Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 6 stop exposure. This 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

          Comments about B+W 67mm 1.8 ND 106 Filter:

A 6 stop ND is something I knew I'd only use once in a blue moon, so I thought about getting a cheaper brand. Glad I decided to get the B+W. If there is a color shift, it's not enough for me to notice it. But beware-sometimes 6 stops may not be enough. In bright sunlight, even stopping the lens down all the way and using this filter will not give several second exposures that make waterfalls(and other things)look so good. In my experience, most cameras get fooled easier in very low light. So I always use manual mode-meter without filter, then change shutter or aperture 6 stops. And don't depend on the camera's autofocus or your eyesight to focus with it on-focus before putting it on.

I used the Neutral Density filter to capture waterfalls, worked great!! Compared it to another much inferior product claiming to be close to the same specs, world of difference. Would enthusiastically recommend it to others.

              Comments about B+W 67mm 1.8 ND 106 Filter:

I used the filter for some sea shore and waterfall photos to smooth the water. Results were very nice. As the light of the day decreased the smoothing was more than I wanted, so I realized I also needed a filter with less light reduction.

                Comments about B+W 67mm 1.8 ND 106 Filter:

This 6 stop multicoated Neutral Density filter is an important addition to any outdoor photographers tool kit, it allows creative control of shutter speeds, and apeture when shooting water or indeed anything where a sense of motion blur is desired, in outdoor situations.
As with all B+W products this filter is of the highest quality available, I have always wondered at the wisdom of buying an expensive lens and using a cheap lesser quality filter in front of it.
