The B+W 72mm Kaesemann XS-Pro Circular Polarizer MRC Nano Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it supports full use of a camera's autofocus and auto exposure functions.

Kaesemann-type filters feature greater optical efficiency than regular polarizing foils and are more neutral in color. The polarizing foils are cemented between plano-parallel optical glass layers, which are then precision-polished to achieve the most accurate plano-parallel surface. This edge sealing protects the filter layers from humidity and are ideal for use with high-speed telephoto and apochromatic lenses.

The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters incorporates an additional 8th layer over the regular MRC and results in a better beading effect with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features the XS-Pro Digital mount which is specifically designed for DSLR use with wide angle and zoom lenses. The filter ring is made from brass for durability as well as jamming prevention.

Reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light allowing for the absorption of much of the light.
Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
Strongest effect when used at a 90° from the sun.
Kaesemann polarizing foils provide highly neutral coloring and higher image quality than conventional polarizing foils.
Multi-Resistant Coating offers both protection to the glass and helps to improve light transmission and image quality.
Nano coating promotes a better beading effect with water for more efficient cleaning.
Constructed from high-quality Schott glass for optical clarity.
Brass filter ring helps to prevent jamming and provides additional strength.
This filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size, and because of this you may be unable to attach the lens manufacturer's bayonet-mounted lens hood to the lens while using this filter. This is dependent on your specific lens and how thick the front rim of the lens is; with thinner, low-profile lenses usually being affected more.

Bought this to use primarily on Canon 15-85 on 7D. Going to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons soon and really needed to get a good polarizing filter. Have tested it quite a bit and am very pleased with the results. No vignetting and I am able to adjust the rotation of the filter with the lens hood in place. Absolutely satisfied.

I take long exposure and outdoor photography and purchased the 72mm (COATED) #110 (ND 3.0) FILTER with this 72mm XS-Pro Digital MRC Nano Kaeseman Circular Polarizing to get the best picture quality possible and was not impressed with the results. I always used rocketfish filters and really wanted to upgrade to a professional grade quality filters (B+W, Hoya Pro, etc.) and definitely noticed the difference on the filter's weights. I've heard great reviews for the "nano crystal" feature and I did see a difference when I pointed to the sunlight, it works great. I was not impressed with the built quality of the glass and brass body. The glass has a small defective clear speck spot. When I tried to clean the glass it fogged. It has like some type of silky layer of oil when you try to clean it. I used professional microfiber cloth and optic cleaning tool and it took few wipes to get it clean. You need to be in a very clean air atmosphere if you want your glasses to be really clean. It does not screw easily to my Nikkor 18-200 VR II and 50mm lens and when I rotate the polarizer you cant barely see the different in the shades. Overall this product is way over priced for the built and glass quality. I was told B+W were the best filters to buy and I'm not too happy with my choice.

Comments about B+W 72mm Kaesemann XS-Pro Circular Polarizer MRC Nano Filter:

This was purchased for my first full-frame pro-quality wide-angle zoom. 'Only one day so far out in the snow and pines of the Black Hills but already a proven winner. I've no complaints about this or any other B&W filter other than the disappointingly cheap construction of the plastic cases they put these high quality products in.

        Works well, but overpriced

Comments about B+W 72mm Kaesemann XS-Pro Circular Polarizer MRC Nano Filter:

Honestly, this isn't worth $100 more than the Tiffen I bought on Amazon. It has a very slightly more pronounced polarizing effect, if at all, and only reduced flare slightly more than the single-coated Tiffen. Also, the brass filter thread that is so highly touted for not binding to the lens makes this filter too easy to unscrew from the lens when manipulating the polarizing glass, which needs to be rotated depending on one's angle to the light. Considering how thin this filter is (a positive point when considering vignetting and filter stacking), I'd prefer it to bind a little more than its superior brass ring allows. Don't get me wrong, I live B+W for glass quality, and this one DOES minimize flare pretty well (not like a bare front lens element or clear multicoated UV filter), but the expense of this particular filter just doesn't seem worth the premium for what it is, how it handles, and how it affects the image.

Easy to clean, low flare, great polarization.
I own the 72mm and 77mm and love them both.
        No vignetting on the Sony/Zeiss FE 16-35 F4 or Sony FE 70-200 F4 G.
Only downside is price, these are outrageous. I tiny performance hit but substantial savings may make alternatives worth it for many.

Comments about B+W 72mm Kaesemann XS-Pro Circular Polarizer MRC Nano Filter:

This is my first polarizer but it isn't my first B+W filter. I have only used Leica and B+W filters since 2008 and I'm quite happy with the quality, especially the brass housing. I have not experienced the problems that some have mentioned so if it gets dirty and takes a bit of effort to clean, then so be it. I did notice one minor factory blemish that does bother me. Apparently, they miss-marked the bezel with the number '2' and then attempted to cover it up with a permanent marker. It's easy to see the number through the marker ink and it's rather annoying considering the price. Since it doesn't affect the function of the filter I decided to live with it vs. replacing it.

I use this filter while I am out taking wildlife pictures of birds and other animals that are in or near water (i.e. Gulls, Seals, Otters, Ducks, etc). The lens is thin but easy to adjust for the density of polarization I desire. I cannot think of anything I do not like about this filter.
