The 6TB DriveStation Duo USB 3.0 Hard Drive RAID Array from Buffalo is a data-safe, high performance storage solution, designed for a variety of applications. This unit comes outfitted with two 3TB hard drives that can operate independently of one another in a "JBOD" configuration or together in a RAID 0 or RAID 1 array. If you want faster throughput for accessing your data, configure the array as a RAID 0, and if you want extra redundancy for more securely storing your data, go with RAID 1. So as to ensure fast data access and transfer speeds at up to 5Gb/s, this unit features a USB 3.0 port for connecting to your server or computer. That USB connection is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 as well. While the drive will work with nearly all PC and Mac computers, it is formatted in FAT32 so that you can immediately start using it with your Windows PC. In addition to the hard drive RAID array, you'll receive the TurboPC Utility software, Buffalo Tools software suite, and the NovaBACKUP Business Essentials software.* All told, the 6TB DriveStation Duo USB 3.0 Hard Drive RAID Array is an exceptional storage solution for small servers, creative professionals, offices, and serious consumers.

Comments about Buffalo 6TB DriveStation Duo USB 3.0 Hard Drive RAID Array:

I needed a redundant way to back-up my picture files. (I just had a hard drive fail) The Buffalo system does it automatically.
I had a little trouble setting it up but a call to customer service took care of the problem. Their rep. talked me through the setup and it has worked as advertised.

Comments about Buffalo 6TB DriveStation Duo USB 3.0 Hard Drive RAID Array:

I've been looking for a way to move most of my data off my local hard drive and decided to go with something that could run Raid 1 for redundancy. Setup was very simple and the drive has performed as expected so far. I haven't tried to run any performance tests but moving the roughly 1 TB of data took a while -- which I expected. The only problem that I have is that I don't have a USB 3 port from the docking station for my laptop so am running it on the slower USB 2. It's unfortunate that the DriveStation didn't have other port options but I knew that when I purchased it.

We'll see how it holds up but as of now I'd recommend it as a very affordable (and simple) option if you want to run a Raid 0 or 1 setup and don't want a NAS. For my purposes, I wanted something directly connected to the machine and this was the most affordable option I could find.
