I've used it snorkeling out in the ocean, water depth about 25 feet. I would take a breath dive down and take pictures of fish, coral structures, the boat and snorkeling partner. It was fun. I took alot of pictures knowing I could keep the best and delete the rest. The camera let me zoom in, take pictures with a flash and it automatically focus' so it's real sweet to use. You have to be ready because it turns itself off automatically. Getting used to it in the beginning, I had to learn which button to push on, I pushed the wrong one often. I like where they put the lens so my fingers were not in the picture. Helpful when you are being pushed around in the waves. Automatic advance was great too. Because this camera was so easy to use, I had a very enjoyable day in the ocean.

I, too, had the problem of camera shutting down when trying to take a photo. Camera does not tell you, but this happens with low batteries. It came with super-duper-ultra batteries, and it really needs them. Regular alkaline AAs will last for less than one dive. The ultra batteries will last for two-three dives (depending on how many photos you snap). So you MUST travel with a good supply of the more expensive batteries, and change then about every two-three dives. This is a very basic camera, but it is reasonably priced and is good for scuba diving (they say to 130 ft.), whereas even those better waterproof point-and-shoots are good to only about 10-30 ft. It's ok topside (such as on the boat), but not so versatile as a point-and-shoot, and it will not be a good overall travel camera.

Comments about SeaLife Mini II Digital Underwater Camera:

The quality of the photos is extremely low. I'm talking sharpness and detail here. Even within this price range this is unacceptable. We're not in the 1950's and this is not a disposable camera so there should have been a minimum standard reference here.

Power. Even with new batteries the camera won't last longer than 40 minutes, even if you take only a few pictures. They should have made this camera with AA batteries and not triple A's.

I got this for my 8 year old son for his first underwater snorkling trip and I thought I'd get him started with something simple, but how low can you get??

Got this camera as a Xmas gift and had planned to use it next week on trip to Maui. Problem #1. Focusing mode will not change from Macro to Landscape. #2. Camera turns "off" after pressing the shutter release. #3.Hi battery consumption.
          4. Wide angle lens partially blocks the flash, bottom half of the pictures is darker than the top. 5.Memory card difficult to remove with fingers, tweezer required. All of this and have not taken it underwater yet!!! I should have tested right after I got it instead of waiting 5 days before my trip. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.

Camera was very frustrating to use. It constantly shut down whenever your tried to snap a photo. I finally realized this was a result of either not being able to focus on a moving subject or low battery. 2 AAA batteries only last for about 10 photos...doesn't matter what size flash card you have since the battery life is so short. wasted money for a trip of a lifetime, snorkeling in Tahiti...

Comments about SeaLife Mini II Digital Underwater Camera:

I was so excited to have a Underwater camera for my trip. I am a novice diver & in my first 5 dives, I had used the throw away cameras. While I did get a few good pictures, I was hoping for more with an actual underwater digital camera that claimed to be very easy to use. Unfortunately, it didn't even make it to the dives. I practiced with it in 2 feet deep water and although I checked the O ring several times and made sure I locked it just like the manual indicated - it leaked immediately. I understand it was inexpensive, however, I think the manufacturer could find a way to have an indicator if it wasn't closed properly &/or water leakage was detected. I was very disappointed.

I would not recommend this camera - it simply is not reliable. I replaced the batteries twice, and the last time the camera failed. I was very careful with the o-ring and making sure it was properly sealed, but it failed on the most interesting of all our dives (the shark dive in Nassau). Now with fresh batteries and on land the splash screen comes up but the camera will not turn on.

Use it to video our diving in the merky and cold Boston waters. It works great. The only downside is the lcd screen is getting scratched easily if the camera is left floating on my BC. I wish it had a more scratch resistant lcd screen or better protector.

Got the camera for my daughter to use around the beach and while snorkeling. Very easy to use and my daughter loves it. Taking it to Bahamas next week

My sister-in-law had purchased the old Mini II model back in 2005 before our sailing trip to BVI. I was soooooo impressed with the quality of pics that I have literlly been searching for one for the last five years and now the "new" revised one just came out right before our 2011 sailing trip to BVI. Just got back and can't wait to share the AWESOME pics with family and friends. GREAT for first time users and photo perfectionists! For a [$] purchase you will not find a better quality in your end product!

Great underwater camera for the price. Very very easy to use. Just got back from a cruise to the Southern caribbean, took many many pictures and they all came out great, especially the underwater ones.

Comments about SeaLife Mini II Digital Underwater Camera:

As soon as I turned this camera on for the first time I knew it wasn't the camera for me. It delivered what it promised; an "easy set-up mode," but it should be mentioned that this is the ONLY mode the camera has available. The zoom function has 3 clicks and all options took out of focus and pixalated images on land. Haven't bothered taking it in the water because the land mode was so disappointing.

The camera is also much larger than I anticipated it being. It feels very clunky (almost toy like). There is also no "lens cap" or shutters protecting the lens from being scratched. The battery door/card door sticks out and has a sharp edge which could scratch you if you grab it just right. The camera card is very difficult to remove (and I have small fingers).

Also ordered the Sealife wide angle lens (SL970) which "fits all Sealife cameras." it may fit all of them except this model.

This camera would be perfect for someone who has no patience for technology, plans to do no editing (cropping, color correction, etc), or doesn't mind out of focus images. The look and quality of photos is that of a disposable camera.
