In a durable soft-touch silver finish that matches your Mac desktop or MacBook, the 1TB GoFlex for Mac Ultra-Portable Hard Drive from Seagate is a stellar external solution for storing, transporting, and backing up your files. Formatted in HFS+ this drive works right out of the box with your Mac computer and is fully compatible with Time Machine. It features a large storage capacity of 1TB and includes adapters that make it Plug-and-Play ready with your computer's FireWire 800 or USB 2.0 interface. While not included, eSATA and USB 3.0 adapters are also available if you ever need to upgrade your drive's interface. Beyond working with your Mac, you can also download a free HFS+ driver for PCs and use this external hard drive with your Windows computer.

This portable hard drive is sturdy and works fine with my iMac. However, I needed to be able to store things on it and then transfer them to my school for use on my Promethean Board. It will not even open in the Windows environment. You do have to eject it because it is really there, however, nothing can be read off it. Totally frustrated with this product. I guess it will just be another external HD at home.

I use this drive to store my Aperture library and transport it between the various Macs I use to do post-processing.
The drive works well, with both the included adapters (USB and FireWire 800). Also, I did not realize that the connection to the drive itself is a SATA connection. I have not tried it, but you might be able to just use standard SATA power + data cables to achieve maximum speed.
The only complaint I have is that if left plugged in, the drive gets a little warm. It's not a huge deal, but something to be aware of.

This is my second drive, the first was a usb 2.0 the second firewire. The firewire works on both now and the transfer rates are better. I highly recommend this drive, I have used others this is the best!

I purchased this hard drive as another back up drive for my images. I have a couple of Iomega drives that have worked and held up well. I also have a G Drive, which is supposed to be top notch for professional use, but in just over a year, it's developed some glitches. So after a little research, I decided to give this Seagate a try.
This 1TB drive is tiny compared to my other 500MB drives and set up was simple. Hopefully, it will hold up well. Based on what I've seen so far, I'll give it 5 stars.
