The Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera body puts the widely respected value and flexibility of the Rebel DSLR at your fingertips. Pair it with any Canon EF and EF-S lenses to create photographs that are uniquely your own. With an 18MP CMOS (APS-C) sensor and Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor the T3i captures beautiful, high resolution JPEG, RAW, and RAW+JPEG images to your choice of SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards (sold separately), or external media via the included USB cable.
The camera also records full HD .MOV video at 1920 x 1080/30p/24p, among other frame rate options. The wide range of compatible lenses and the camera's dedicated live view give you the flexibility you need to create wonderful HD DSLR movies.
No matter what you're recording - still images or vibrant video - the T3i provides you with a vari-angle 3.0" Clear View LCD monitor that flips-out and is adjustable at a variety of angles for shooting and review of your subject. The camera also features an eye-level viewfinder for more precise composition of shots.
Canon's 63 zone dual-layer sensor works with the 9 point AF system for excellent exposures by minimizing in-camera meter reading error. The system produces more accurate images even in low-lit settings. The T3i also features an in-camera flash or the option to connect a flash, and is Speedlite compatible. Another feature worth mentioning when it comes to exposure include the camera's 100-6400 ISO rating which is expandable up to 12800. Using this setting along with Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer produces incredible low light shots.
In addition, the T3i features a number of user-friendly modes that allow the user to simplify their experience. Intelligent Auto mode, for example, takes the guesswork out of shooting by automatically setting 5 of the camera's technologies to create the optimum image. Other helpful shooting controls like Basic+ provides the user with 2 options for making creative photos like a pro. The ambience selection adjusts exposure and white balance to give your images a unique look and feel. When shooting by lighting or scene type, Basic+ creates artistic filters for the scene or gives it the feel that the viewer is focused on the center of the image. Of course, other shooting controls like the feature guide and quick control screen help to streamline your experience with the camera as well.
In addition to a number of different recording size and frame rate modes, the EOS Rebel T3i enables easy manual control of exposure, focus and Live View features and even allows for in-camera editing. The large CMOS sensor and compatibility with over 60 lenses provide a wealth of depth-of-field options. And it's all as easy as the press of a button - the EOS Rebel T3i has a dedicated Live View/Movie Recording start/stop button that gets the shooting started fast
Shoot by ambience selection
Based on the Picture Style and its parameters (sharpness, contrast, saturation, and color tone), the exposure compensation and white balance correction are adjusted to attain the selected ambience. You can also can also select the strength of the ambience effect
Shoot by lighting or scene type
Although the actual parameter set is the white balance, the settings are expressed in more understandable terms
The Multi-Aspect Function of the EOS Rebel T3i lets you express an image in one of three ways by matching the aspect ratio to each scene. In addition to the camera's standard 3:2 ration, the Multi-Aspect Function includes a 1:1 ratio that creates the sensation that the viewer's gaze is focusing upon the center of the image. At the 4:3 ratio, you get nearly the same aspect ratio as a regular TV or a 4:3 computer display. The 16:9 aspect ratio provides a wide look, much the same as HDTV
The EOS Rebel T3i incorporates five in-camera Creative Filters so you can artistically manipulate scenes without the aid of an outside computer. Soft Focus lends a dreamy, romantic aspect, while Grainy Black and White gives a dramatically gritty, hard-bitten look. Miniature Effect creates an illusion in which expansive subjects are seemingly reduced to doll-house-like proportions, and Toy Camera Effect recreates the colors and softness rendered by cameras with a plastic lens, an effect often sought after by art photographers. Fish Eye Effect mimics the "Fisheye" lenses that are favorites of professional photographers for their quirky, convex perspective
The Canon Speedlite 430EX II is the ideal step-up accessory for powerful flash shooting with the EOS Rebel T3i. It has excellent flash power (maximum guide number of 141 ft./43m at ISO 100), and is the perfect way to get great flash pictures when you can't get right up to the subject. The 430EX II is also great for bounce flash, with its tilting and swiveling flash head. It automatically zooms the flash head to cover lenses ranging from 16mm up to 105mm or longer with the EOS Rebel T3i. Of course, it works with the camera to provide full E-TTL II automatic flash exposure. And the 430EX II has a powerful AF-assist beam, which allows the camera to autofocus even in total darkness on subjects as far as 32 ft. from the camera

This is my first DSLR after giving up my film SLR probably a decade ago. I use it for family pictures and general photography. The camera is wonderfully easy to use, with lots of ability. Controlling it is a learning process.
Pros:
- Lots of options that are easily accessible.
- Large display. Having aging eyes, I can still read and set most of the menus without my readers.
- Canon system- enough said.
- Lightweight- easy to carry around.
- Size- have a small 5.11 kit bag that holds the camera, Sigma 18-200 zoom, Canon 50mm lens, 320EX flash, Stroboframe folding flash bracket, and insundry accessories. Doesn't scream steal me.
- Images- WOW. Upgrading from a 6mp Lumix was very nice.
- RAW images- makes post processing easier. I no longer feel like I am fighting against the camera.
- Layout- Controls are laid out nicely. Swiveling display was a wonderful addition when I was composing from a tall tripod over a fenceline. Can close the display so it is not tempting me to chimp.
- Pop up flash has good power. I cut a strip of plastic from a milk jug, put it in very hot water and bent it to fit over the flash. Secure with rubber bands and you have a softer flash.
Cons:
- Noise at high ISO. Was happy with it's ability to image indoors without flash until I looked at the noise in the images with ISO > 2,000. I shouldn't have expected more, but now that I know, I will be much more careful about using AutoISO.
- Size (double edged sword)- Camera is a little small for my largish hands. Looking at getting the accessory battery pack.
- B&H makes it so easy to find all the great accessories for this camera that my budget went right out the window.

I bought the camera for a couple purposes.
The first was to have a higher MP than my Rebel XT so my girlfriend and I could blow up the high res photos to 12"x12", which my 8MP XT just couldn't do (at least not at print quality with any sort of cropping). For this, the T3i performs admirably. I thought the increased ISO settings would allow better low light shots when set to manual, but I was a little dissapointed with its performance in that regard unfortunately.
The second reason we picked this camera was that we wanted a camera with HD video. The video is okay, but lighting in a huge factor, as always. There is no built in video lighting, which we didn't consider when we bought it. I guess we assumed there must be an LED or something. There isn't. You have to buy Speedlight Flash with LED as an addon, which we didn't have to money for at this point. Too bad I guess.

This camera is the best for beginners. It is totally user friendly, the presets are perfect for someone just getting started, and to learn the shutter, aperture and ISO are very easy, just takes practice. After about a month of learning this camera, you'll be handling it with ease!

I purchased this camera to use in my online classes at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. So far, it is working quite well. We have to shoot everything on manual settings, so I haven't had much time to experiment with everything this camera has to offer. Hopefully I can make time soon to do that.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera (Body Only):
I use this camera for photo and video and it excels in both areas. Although it isn't as amazing taking video as more expensive canon models like the 5D, with the new lower price point (with the release of the T4i) it still creates exceptionally beautiful video with good lighting. I use it mostly for interviews and slider shots with video, and to pick up pictures to add into video later as a camera. I honestly can't think of another DSLR I would get as this price point and be this happy with. It really is just a solid camera and worth the money.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera (Body Only):
I had been using a Cannon 50D for several years doing events and wildlife. It started giving me problems, and since I am now retired, decided to look for a lighter; more compact camera that would accept my lenses. I could not decide between a T4i and a T3i. I contacted B&H explaining that I am not interested in video. They recommended the T3i.
I've been using this camera for two weeks, and I can only describe it in one word, "FANTASTIC!"
I was afraid that being used to the controls of the 50D that I would have a hard time adapting to those of the T3i. I find the controls to be laid out in a very logical and user-friendly pattern.
The image quality is excellent. I can hardly notice noise at ISO 3200. I have been playing with the automatic features, and although I may not use them often, they yield fantastic images. Though I'm not interested in video, I tried the video function, and found it to be easy to use and great quality. The build quality is solid. I do not feel like I'm holding a toy.
I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a well-built DSLR that takes awesome images, is lightweight and easy to use.
I have put the difference in the purchase price between the two bodies toward buying a Cannon 18 – 85mm lens which is due to arrive on Tuesday. Thank you, B&H, for your honest; reliable service.

My oldest daughter just graduated from college and this is a graduation gift for a job well done. She just got her first iPhone her Senior year and started taking a ton of photos. She prefers things to be simple, easy and low profile. I was surprised somewhat when she told me she wanted a DSLR body. This is a great "first camera" for the college graduate. She is headed off for four years of graduate studies and then will live in a tribal culture to do translation work. She wanted a camera--more substantial than a top of the line point and shoot--to take better photos to document her work and travels. I'm donating some of my old lenses and accessories to get her started.
This is not a professional grade camera: it is not built like a brick and is not fully sealed from moisture and dust. I personally prefer a large, heavy camera body with a battery grip that is fully sealed. This camera body is more along the lines of a soccer mom's camera in that it is lighter weight and on the petite side. Because of the lighter weight build quality I don't think this will be her last camera body, but it sure is an excellent launching point for an incredible daughter. I can't wait to see all her photos documenting her adventures around the world.

I own the t2i and just recently replaced the shutter and so I bought the t3i for my wife and she loves it.
The grip is different, feels better in my hand than the t2i, and the image quality is the same. Crop sensor or not, if you place a fast 1.2 or 1.4 or 1.8 lens on this camera you can get close to professional looking shots out of the box.
Hope this helps.

I bought the T3I because I wanted to get better results than I was getting from my point and shoot ELF. Canon has some great rebates when you buy the camera, 2 lenses and the Pro-100 printer. The gear is outstanding. Pictures are fantastic as is the printer quality. I did not pay attention to the foot print of the printer had, and was surprised at the size when it arrived. It's a monster at almost 50 lbs. The rebate is work but worth it. I will be getting $300 in gift cards which gets my purchase price down to where the printer is practically free compared to buying all the pieces localy.

With the addition of ML, you can't ask for a better set up under several [$]. With the ease of set up and a fast learning curve it's great for beginners as well. A leader in the pack.

I have only had this product for less than a month and so far I seem to like it. The only down side I can think of is when taking pictures through the flip screen it seems to be slow but then again I have a lot to learn about the camera yet.

I am going to use this to travel with around Europe. So far I have taken it around locally and it has done great. This is my first DSLR and I am finding it very easy to learn and use.
