The Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera with EF-S 18-55mm IS II Lens Kit provides you with the T3i body and a Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS II lens. You'll be ready to shoot from day one with this set-up. Just charge the included LP-E8 battery pack and pop in an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card and you're ready to start making photos! And should you want to expand your selection of lenses for the T3i, all Canon EF and EF-S lenses are compatible.
The Rebel line of DSLR cameras has long been known as a value in photography, focusing on the advanced amateur, student, and all those looking to go beyond what their point-and-shoot lets them do, to stretch and test the limits of their creativity; all while not breaking the bank.
With an 18MP CMOS (APS-C) sensor and Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor the T3i captures beautiful, high resloution JPEG, RAW, and RAW+JPEG images to your choice of SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. The camera also records full HD .MOV video at 1920 x 1080/30p/24p, among other frame rate options. The wide range of compatible lenses and the camera's dedicated live view give you the flexibility you need to create wonderful HD DSLR movies.
No matter what you're recording - still images or vibrant video - the T3i provides you with a vari-angle 3.0" Clear View LCD monitor that flips-out and is adjustable at a variety of angles for shooting and review of your subject. The camera also features an eye-level viewfinder for more precise composition of shots.
Canon's 63 zone dual-layer sensor works with the 9 point AF system for excellent exposures by minimizing in-camera meter reading error. The system produces more accurate images even in low-lit settings. The T3i also features an in-camera flash or the option to connect a flash, and is Speedlite compatible. Another feature worth mentioning when it comes to exposure include the camera's 100-6400 ISO rating which is expandable up to 12,800. Using this setting along with Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer produces incredible low light shots.
In addition, the T3i features a number of user-friendly modes that allow the user to simplify their experience. Intelligent Auto mode, for example, takes the guesswork out of shooting by automatically setting 5 of the camera's technologies to create the optimum image. Other helpful shooting controls like Basic+ provides the user with 2 options for making creative photos like a pro. The ambience selection adjusts exposure and white balance to give your images a unique look and feel. When shooting by lighting or scene type, Basic+ creates artistic filters for the scene or gives it the feel that the viewer is focused on the center of the image. Of course, other shooting controls like the feature guide and quick control screen help to streamline your experience with the camera as well.
In addition to a number of different recording size and frame rate modes, the EOS Rebel T3i enables easy manual control of exposure, focus and Live View features and even allows for in-camera editing. The large CMOS sensor and compatibility with over 60 lenses provide a wealth of depth-of-field options. And it's all as easy as the press of a button - the EOS Rebel T3i has a dedicated Live View/Movie Recording start/stop button that gets the shooting started fast
Shoot by ambience selection
Based on the Picture Style and its parameters (sharpness, contrast, saturation, and color tone), the exposure compensation and white balance correction are adjusted to attain the selected ambience. You can also can also select the strength of the ambience effect
Shoot by lighting or scene type
Although the actual parameter set is the white balance, the settings are expressed in more understandable terms
The Multi-Aspect Function of the EOS Rebel T3i lets you express an image in one of three ways by matching the aspect ratio to each scene. In addition to the camera's standard 3:2 ration, the Multi-Aspect Function includes a 1:1 ratio that creates the sensation that the viewer's gaze is focusing upon the center of the image. At the 4:3 ratio, you get nearly the same aspect ratio as a regular TV or a 4:3 computer display. The 16:9 aspect ratio provides a wide look, much the same as HDTV
The EOS Rebel T3i incorporates five in-camera Creative Filters so you can artistically manipulate scenes without the aid of an outside computer. Soft Focus lends a dreamy, romantic aspect, while Grainy Black and White gives a dramatically gritty, hard-bitten look. Miniature Effect creates an illusion in which expansive subjects are seemingly reduced to doll-house-like proportions, and Toy Camera Effect recreates the colors and softness rendered by cameras with a plastic lens, an effect often sought after by art photographers. Fish Eye Effect mimics the "Fisheye" lenses that are favorites of professional photographers for their quirky, convex perspective
The Canon Speedlite 430EX II is the ideal step-up accessory for powerful flash shooting with the EOS Rebel T3i. It has excellent flash power (maximum guide number of 141 ft./43m at ISO 100), and is the perfect way to get great flash pictures when you can't get right up to the subject. The 430EX II is also great for bounce flash, with its tilting and swiveling flash head. It automatically zooms the flash head to cover lenses ranging from 16mm up to 105mm or longer with the EOS Rebel T3i. Of course, it works with the camera to provide full E-TTL II automatic flash exposure. And the 430EX II has a powerful AF-assist beam, which allows the camera to autofocus even in total darkness on subjects as far as 32 ft. from the camera

First of all, my wife and I are having a baby in the next couple of months. We always told each other we'd get a "nice" DSLR before our first child, and this camera was our choice.
We tossed around the idea of getting the T3, the T4i and this T3i. In the end, we landed on this camera because of the swivel screen, and lower price than the T4i. As our first camera, we decided that this would be more than enough for the next 5-10 years until we decide to upgrade to a newer body. If we ever do... Lenses are interchangeable, so we decided to invest more into them over time. In the end, we just felt the T3i fit our needs in terms of the features it offers and the price point it's at.
The camera starts up right away, and within a second you're ready to take pictures. With the dial on the top, you're able to quickly make changes to the aperture setting, and with a couple of button presses you can use the same dial to change other features such shutter speed, ISO, etc. Changes are quick and easy, which is nice for a first time DSLR user. Another reason we chose the T3i over the T3, is because of the image sensor self cleaner. The T3 lacks this function.
We have paired our camera with the lens kit (18-55), telephoto lens (55-250) and a prime lens (50mm 1.8). We found that for the price of this camera and the lenses I mentioned, we have quite the nice little starter kit. I highly recommend a prime lens, such as the 50mm f 1.8 or even the 40mm pancake lens. This will just allow for great low light shots, and they're smaller lighter and easier to cart around. An excellent choice, we believe.
Since we bought our camera, we've taken roughly 500 photos. I've done a lot of reading and homework on photography since I made the purchase, and I can already tell a difference with my photos. I'd truly recommend you do some reading up on the basics of using the different settings (aperture, ISO, shutter speed, depth of field how to, etc.) before you start shooting. Once you do, practive with your camera. It has made all the difference for me.
We've also paired this camera with a yongnuo yn-568 flash, which works great with this camera. The two can communicate using E-TTL II where the flash on top of the camera body sets off the flash (if it's not mounted in the shoe on top of the camera). It also works great mounted on top, as it quickly recognizes the settings it needs to be at and adjusts based on my settings and zoom. I mention this, just to mention the functionality of the camera in terms of working with other accessories (Canon branded or not). An off camera flash was an EXCELLENT upgrade for us, as it is great in low light and/or used as fill lighting.
The video function is great, as it shoots in 1080p and does 60 fps when in 720p. This is great for slow motion video. We won't use video too much, but the small amount of video we've taken so far with our 50mm lens has been so wonderful, as it's fun to play with the focus and bokeh.
The final feature I'll touch on is the swivel head. It is so nice to use when you don't want to bend down low to take a shot, when you have to hold the camera up high over a crowd or something, or just to give you more functionality in your shots (although we don't use the live function much as I prefer to look through the view finder). It has really come in handy when taking candid shots of others, as I don't have the camera up to my face the whole time and I'm able to simply carry on conversation and take photos at the same time.
The only downside I'll mention that I've found, is the number of shots you get on the camera compared to the T3, just for example. I got about 400 shots on my first charge, where as the T3 gets around 700-800 based on what others have said. Just something to consider. An extra battery may be a must for some.
Overall, my wife and I are more than happy with this camera and the 18-55mm lens that came with it. Whether you're upgrading from another body to this one, or buying your first DSLR, I think you'll be quite satisfied with the ease of use and overall performance of this camera. Give it a try!

It's perfect. You honestly can't even tell which is the 7D and which is the T3i when it's all edited together.
I picked the T3i over the T2i simply for the rotating screen.
As far as my gripe for it goes...the most frustrating thing so far has been matching white balance.
There is NO Kelvin Meter on the T3i. So, on a lot of shoots when everyones matching white balance and tell you to put it on a specific white balance, you can't really do that.
So I'm always left having to do custom white balance on something nearby to match it up with my 7D.
And that's even off sometimes...so, that's sort of a nag.
Everything else is fine though.
The controls are easy. It's lightweight...it's a mini 7D. Less ISO Options, but overall No complaints other than the Kelvin meter.

I have really enjoyed my t3i thus far. The sharp quality is amazing for a camera [$]. I am a student filmmaker and highly recommend this camera for film and photo alike. It is very user friendly and the great quality adds so much to my footage. The only downfall is the internal mic, but that's a pretty cheap fix. I will be buying a decent external mic soon and that should clear up that problem. BH was very fast and included everything I had ordered in the box. Also, I found the price to be cheaper than most places.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera with EF-S 18-55mm IS II Lens Kit:
My first step up to a DSLR - we got it mainly to shoot indoor sports (volleyball and basketball) where lighting is challenging and point-and-shoot cameras just won't do a very good job. Even though Canon says this is entry-level, I think it does everything that most average people would need and then some. Still learning how to use it to get the best shots, but very impressed so far.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera with EF-S 18-55mm IS II Lens Kit:
I'm by no means a professional photographer, but I dind't take picking my first DSLR lightly. I was really looking for great HD video, but i've been amazed at how well this camera performs as both a camera and a video camera. I've been challenging myself to only shoot in Manual mode, so I can't say much to the seperate modes on the camera. What I can say is that with a bit of practice and a few youtube tutorials, this camera has been incredible for learning the ins and outs of SLR photography. This is certainly the best choice for ANYONE looking to learn photography at a more serious level without investing thousands of dollars. I'm only using the 18-55mm Stock lens, and I'm getting great quality videos/pictures.
I'll attach a picture I've taken recently to show what I've done within the first week of owning a camera. Once again, I'm by no means a professional. I edited it using Photoshop cs5.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera with EF-S 18-55mm IS II Lens Kit:
I purchased my Canon EOS Rebel T3i kit from the "Used" department here at B&H, mostly on a whim, and would have mistaken it for new when I received it had I not known better. The camera and lens both helped me get started on my journey in DLSR photography and I'm pleased with how easy it's been to pick up on the basic functions and settings. I'll grant that to this point, I've really only photographed my family (at Christmas), and some outdoor scenery, and have not pushed past using the manual settings with basic ISO or white balance adjustments. I have, however, gotten a few truly awesome shots of my nieces and nephews that I'll call miracles. Without this camera, it doesn't seem possible to have recorded such joy!
The video capability has been great, too. I've tested it out a couple times and I'll be happy to be trusted with recording special family moments (with some advance notice, I hope!).
The T3i has been a great tool so far, and as I gain knowledge and experience, I'll continue to enjoy photography and share the results.

I am an avid amateur landscape photographer and I made the switch from the Nikon D3100 specifically for the Canon lenses and processor.

Great price for a camera of this quality. The external microphone input was a necessity. The HD 1080 was also one of my requirements. The B&H service was fast and professional. The only think I'll need now is more lenses!

I was about to buy the T3, and I am so glad I opted for this one instead. The swiveling display along with the ability to use a remote control really put this camera above its predecessor.

I am an avid amateur landscape photographer and I made the switch from the Nikon D3100 specifically for the Canon lenses and processor. The quality of the images provided by the processor have much more vibrant color and overall much sharper. I took this to the Dry Tortugas last week and shot a 20 minute exposure of the fort at night and I was a little disappointed to see how much digital noise there still is.

Am starting a home based business. It does not disappoint with features. There are many tutorials online available to augment this excellent camera. I would buy another one in a heart beat! I wish that it would have a bracketing setting that could be saved rather than having to reset it after the camera is turned on. I will deal with this though.
