The Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 Tripod and MH054M0-Q2 Ball Head Kit - Dark Gray is a lightweight support system for DSLR cameras with a maximum height of 61.8" and a load capacity of 11 lb. Innovative production techniques allowed engineers to devise a tripod as light and tall as this one with a higher load capacity than was before possible.
The four-section legs are composed of 100% carbon, as is the center column. When it's extended to its highest vertical position, the center column can be swung over to a horizontal orientation without removing the head or disassembling the column itself.
The 190CXPRO4 tripod features leg locks that were redesigned for better ergonomics. Four leg-angle positions are selectable, and leg-adjustment levers were also redesigned for this model.
Designed for the 190 line of tripods, the lightweight magnesium MH054M0-Q2 head embodies state-of-the-art technology and materials that make it extremely precise, allowing extra-smooth movements. The ball head features independent control over tilt and panning, which allows finer control over adjustments to the framing. Portrait orientation range for the MH054M0-Q2 is 90-105°. Degree markings aid in panoramic photography. The head's tension control can be adjusted to accommodate different payloads and the operator's preference.
The MH054M0-Q2 features a redesigned magnesium Q2 quick-release system that's compatible with RC2 standard plates. A 200PL-14 camera plate is included.

Took the tripod into the field at Grand Canyon. The legs were "sticky" which I attributed to the newness of the product. However, even my professional photographer companion had trouble using the temperamental ballhead. The knob placement on the ballhead was not user friendly, and the camera shifted even after locking down camera placement. Made horizon alignment a frustrating experience.

Comments about Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 Tripod and MH054M0-Q2 Ball Head Kit (Dark Gray):
Used with DSLR+70-200mm f2.8 or 28-300mm. Q2 quick release matches the one on my Manfrotto unipod - quick to swap between the two. Carbon fiber tripod and magnesium ball head are very light, yet strong and stable. Four section legs allows it to break down to a very compact form. Bubble levels on mount receiver help to quickly find level/perpendicular, particularly when setting up on uneven ground. There are no long, protruding adjustment levers to brush or catch with clothing and possibly topple-over camera/tripod. Bottom line: I like this tripod/head combo.

Comments about Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 Tripod and MH054M0-Q2 Ball Head Kit (Dark Gray):
I just received the tripod and haven't used it in the field yet, but am very impressed. It is light, compact (folded), very stable, well made, and easy to use. The quick-release works very well. This is my first ball head (always used pan/tilt before). Wasn't sure I would like a ball head, but am now a believer. A significant upgrade from my old reliable 3221 with pan/tilt head.

I have been using a very similar aluminum version of this product and I'm glad I switched to carbon fiber. Saves me a bit of pain from carrying it and it definitely meets my needs as a photographer. Solid and sturdy, I would definitely recommend this to others.

Big change from my old tripod. The wavering is gone with carbon tripod and new ball head. It handles the weight distribution much better for larger lenses. I don't have worry about using a remote switch to ensure sharp pictures.

If you are an instructor or student, you can really save by joining B&H's EDU program. That's what I did and got a smokin' hot deal on this carbon fiber and head kit. Finally, I have a strong, lightweight tripod! Works well with my Canon 7D.

I struggled with my old Linhof aluminum tripod for over 40 years... and now wonder how. Light weight, incredibly stable new toy with versitility I never imagined. I especially like being able to traverse horizontally, and the ability to get right next to the ground. Can't believe I lived without it for all these years

When i saw how thin the bottom extensions were when i got this in the mail, I was worried it wouldnt be stable with my 7d, flash, and 70-200 IS 2.8 II USM. But i popped it one, and its SOLID. I'd recommend this to anyone. [...] B&H does it right! Also, super strong clamp, all metal, reminds me of military rail clamps. Very high quality carbon fiber, pulled the rubber feet off and no frays or fibers exposed. A++
