The Manfrotto 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Rapid Column is a heavy-duty tripod that's intended for use with video cameras and large still cameras. With a 39.7 lb load capacity, the lightweight carbon fiber leg tubes of the 057 tripod provide rigid support even under a considerable amount of weight.

The tripod's rapid center column has a non-rotating, three-faceted design for increased system stability. To enable extremely low-angle shooting, you can unscrew the center-post collar, remove the center column, and attach the collar directly to the included low-angle adapter (through the chassis). With this method the 057 tripod can achieve a minimum height of 9".

The round carbon fiber legs feature user-adjustable flip locks to free and secure the leg stages. An included key for tightening the flip locks attaches to a leg for ever-ready access. With both the legs and the center column fully extended, the tripod reaches height of 80.7".

Comments about Manfrotto 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Rapid Column:

Used this tripod for panoramic photography, indoor and outdoor commercial, and playing with old Sinar Norma large format rail camera. In many things, it is very solid. The girth of the legs when you first see it is surprising, and the steadiness when set up makes you confident that this will be a very stable platform. Matched with a good head and you can be confident that this thing will perform.I never had to extend it all the way out, and since I have the 4 part legs that is a bit of a waste but its nice to know that the extra height is there if I ever find myself that one time I needed it.I don't care for the feet at the bottom though. The metal spikes could surely be used to some effect outdoors but when the rubber feet are on there they make you wonder if how stable that bit really is. That said I never had any issues with them and they are not easy to accidentally unscrew off so I am not worried that they will fall off and get lost one day. Also there is a little plastic attachment that does on a leg that holds the wrench to tighten the hex bolts. That thing fell off almost immediately. Also this tripod did not come with a bag, and because its so big finding a bag for it has been hard.Sure I would not want to carry this on a all day trek but it might be worth it since this really is about as stable a platform as you can find for your cameras.

Comments about Manfrotto 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Rapid Column:

Tripod is as advertised, well built and solid.

Only draw back is weight, cannot be used for wild / nature photography. If you are into macro photography, I would recommend the none rapid column version which would allow you precise centre column height adjustment.

Comments about Manfrotto 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Rapid Column:

I love this tripod! I have used it for portrait work, sports and time lapse- completely solid but not heavy. Awesome with the Manfrotto 057 Mag Ball Head. I have used my 1DX and 5D MkIII with battery pack and it is solid as a rock. Smooth legs and easy action. The quick inner column is solid and not flimsy as with some tripods. Nothing I would improve!

Comments about Manfrotto 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Rapid Column:

I use the tripod almost all of the time during photography. This tripod is big, tall and very solid. I'm 6ft 2in tall and this tripod goes way over my head! It's heavier than my previous tripods, but I'll carry the 8 pounds anywhere to get the solid platform.

Comments about Manfrotto 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Rapid Column:

        Extremely stable tripod.
Maximum height (2m +) is a real plus, The viewfinder of the camera can be at eye height, which I never had before with other tripods.

On the downside, all the benefits such as stability and height come at a price: it is big and heavy

Comments about Manfrotto 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Rapid Column:

This tripod is very solid and can be set up to be very tall. I am about 5'11" and don't usually extend the bottom section and still don't have to bend at all to look through my viewfinder. I have a Nikon D5100 with a Sigma 150-500 on a gimbal head. This tripod is probably a little overkill for my setup but it handles it well and I could also use it if I ever get a heavier lens and camera combination. The tripod is heavier than I expected for carbon fibre, I can't imagine what an aluminum version would be like.

Comments about Manfrotto 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Rapid Column:

Bought this tripod because I was looking to buy ONE tripod. One that had some weight savings and most of all, stability. This tripod meets or surpasses all of that as it's the most massive and beefy tripod I've ever seen. 4-sections and aluminum center post can raise your camera up beyond your reach! Very solid construction, tho like most Manfrotto gear, not the most refined feeling stuff. Legs don't rotate, magnesium and carbon fiber, Italian styling all add up to a true beast of a tripod. Very flexible, too. If you want a tripod that you can practically sit on, this is the one.

Comments about Manfrotto 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Rapid Column:

Rock solid performance. Heavy duty construction and seems very road worthy. Does it's job and performs very well. Super stable, works fantastic with the 057 w/Q5 quick release. I can see it lasting me for life. It's great in situations where you're in a windy situation outside. I wanted a top shelf tripod and feel like I got it. It's built like a tank.

Only downside I can see, and this is not the product's fault, is it's pretty hefty with the tripod head. My girlfriend is my shooting partner and for her frankly this is just too big with a full frame DSLR and a 70-200mm. But I knew this when I purchased this tripod. I have a smaller Manfrotto that I used for years, and still do, but I wanted to step up to a top-of-the-line tripod for when I was in windy situations on rooftops, the beach etc. and I found the smaller tripod was a little dicey with a 70-200 on it, hence why I wanted a monster like this. So for a guy, you'll love this tripod, but women may find it a bit much to haul around on a long shoot. But that's fine with me, cause I don't have to share it! Ha ha. Again, not the tripods fault, it's meant to be big and stable. I plan on getting the attachment that allows to have your laptop on one side and the camera on the other and shoot tethered. Very cool.

Side bar: Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is it can take a little getting used to adjusting the leg angles at first, and also in general I think 5 stars means something is perfect, and I don't really feel 99% of the products in the world have zero room for improvement. That's just my own opinion tho!

Comments about Manfrotto 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Rapid Column:

I've been shooting with the Manfrotto 057 4-section fast column/057 head with RC4 release combo for about a week now, and my images became suddenly sharper...I was getting visible vibration upon shutter actuation with my old tripod, which was not really the fault of the tripod; It just wasn't built to carry the weight I was asking it to.
WELL, I figured I'd get the biggest leg/head set Manfrotto made, and this combo sure does the trick. No more vibrations...and the build quality is top-notch.

I used very famous trippod.(Made in French) However this tripod was weak to use on Hokkaidoin Winter(Look like Alaska). So what happened? My experience. It was too cold, and the screw of the leg has been frozen hard. During a photography trip, I was held to carry it with being much longer tripod.

But, Manfrotto is useing Quick release syatem. It was not frozen in Winter. and 057Serise is much heavy duty. There is the strength that does not lose in my 645 systems, the height is perfect, and Weight is light class.
