The black and gray Orion Daypack 200 from Lowepro is built for both durability and comfort. Constructed from weather-resistant nylon, this daypack is meant to do just that - be a handy and manageable bag to take on that day trip to the country. Starting with a lovely black exterior that contains two 8" (20.3cm) gray zippered slash pockets that can hold things like gloves, maps, water bottles or even some photo gear, this bag has more than enough space to accommodate anything you might need for a day in the field.
The pack is divided in two halves with upper and lower storage areas. The top compartment is a dual zippered pull-out style that is fine for holding a sweater, sandwich or perhaps a small collapsed umbrella as well as other medium-sized items. Inside, the top area, there's also a large 9" (22.9cm) airline mesh pocket in which you can stuff maps and other small items.
The lower area is where you store your camera gear. Dual zippers with pull tabs give access to a section that has 2 long dividers and 2 short dividers - all removable and held in place via touch fasteners. For added security, the lower area is also secured with an exterior snap clasp closure.
The two shoulder straps are padded as is the ergonomically contoured and comfortable back pad. For ease of carrying through tight spots, there is also a strong top carry handle.
The bottom of the bag has two snap claps and nylon loops at either end with which you can secure a small tripod or a jacket. The exterior also has four small nylon loops for securing additional items.

I was skeptical to buy this bag since it had no reviews, but went ahead with the purchase and I'm glad I did. I didn't want to spend much more than this and definitely didn't want to buy a bag where when it is opened, there is a possibility of equipment falling out (which is what half of the bags on here are). I had someone who I was contracting out to work on a project who had a bag like that. We had to go through a thorough security check for a shoot and when one of the guards was about to go through his backpack style camera bag, his 5Dmkii nearly fell out.
So that was my main consideration with what I needed. I have no concerns that if I had to go through a security check with it that my equipment would be in jeopardy. It sits straight up effortlessly without much or any tilt to make it want to lie down flat. The bottom has a zipper and fastener, so that even if one were to break, you'd still be safe.
I'm outfitted for DSLR video. Right now, it has my Panasonic GH2, Panny 14-42mm, Panny 20mm pancake, Canon FD 50mm, Vivitar FD 80-200mm, a lens adapter, three extra batteries, a variable ND filter, Zoom H4n audio recorder, and second card. That's all in the bottom part. Then in the top, I've got a Joby Gorillapod, headphones, AA batteries, and an XLR mic kit-- with plenty of room to spare up top.
The side pockets are nice for a water bottle or a dry umbrella. And if I have my big tripod out, I can use the fasteners on the bottom of the bag to attach my empty tripod bag/ case, so that I don't have to carry it around, leave it on the ground, or stuff it in the top of the bag.
I would definitely recommend this. It's the only bag that met my price range, was a backpack style, and met my security needs so that a guard opening it wouldn't cause my equipment to fall out.

Comments about Lowepro Orion Daypack 200 (Black/Gray):
Easily packs my T4i+18-135mmSTM(attached) + 55-250mm, two other smaller lenses, external flash, charger kit, and a few extra things, all in the lower pocket, and there is still a small room left. Tripod and Monopod go underneath. The bag looks very compact and easy to carry with all of this, and the weight sits perfectly on the lower back while carrying, not on the shoulders.
The upper pocket can be used for compact carry-on travel needs or just left empty while not travelling. Fits my Nexus 10 very easily.
A zipper or mini-pockets in the upper pocket would have been more beneficial. Although accessing my camera was slightly easier from a slingshot bag, I found this bag way better in many other ways.

Great daypack in which I put my Canon T2i, its charger, an extra lens; my Diana F+, and an extra lens. The top half of the bag is quite roomy and I can store quite a bit of non-photo gear in there. It's comfy to wear an is low profile so it doesn't feel bulky, constricting, or in the way.

Sturdy material. Nice color for men or women.
very 'roomy' and 'spacious' to put the camera, lense, separate flash on the bottom, where it is cushioned, and other staff on the top part.
Great for family with children - snacks, change of clothes. Can replace any other extra bag - wallet, etc., There is ebough room to carry just one bag.
It has two straps for the shoulder which makes it easy, comfortable and healthy.

This is a sweet bag perfect for a day of hiking and shooting in the woods. I can easily fit my Nikon F5 and four lenses/flashs in the camera compartment. I can also fit a windbreaker, water, and a lunch comfortably in the top compartment. I also realized when I got the pack that it had straps on the bottom for a tripod and/or a small folding stool, this is really nice as I always bring my full size tripod with me when I go out hiking and its a pain having to carry that around all day on the trail. Overall this is a great pack that I have already recommended to two of my classmates.

Things I like about this daypack:
-It fits well and is comfortable, even when carrying a heavy load.
-Good quality construction.
-The camera section is at the bottom, which a lot of other day packs also do, but in addition to a zipper, it is reinforced with a strap. This gives me peace of mind that my camera will not accidentally fall out.
-A tripod can be strapped to the bottom.
-The top compartment is roomy.
-The external zipper compartments are nice for carrying things I might access a lot...like my cellphone or an energy bar.
Things I don't like:
-It can be a little hard to configure the bottom section with the velcro dividers. Not sure how else they could give flexible configuration, though, otherwise.
-It's a little clumsy removing the camera...I generally sit down to do it. It's not built for speed, but my photography also is not about speed either, so it works for me.
I summary, I like it and would buy it again.

The bags upper half is a nice open space that has room for a rain shell or a lunch. There is a mesh pocket in the upper that perfectly holds an iPad. The lower is roomy for a micro camera. In the lower I have a Panasonic GH2 with a Lumix 14-140mm attached, an Olympus 75-300mm, and Lumix 45mm macro. There is enough room left for me to carry the charger, two spare batteries, a four card memory case, extra lens body caps, and iPad SD card reader. The pocket that holds the charger could easily hold a flash and I'm sure a pancake lens could be added no problem. The straps are very comfortable, as is the carrying size. I used to carry an E-3, 12-60mm, 50-200mm, 50mm macro, and 15" MacBook Pro. That pack weighed over 30 lbs, the new bag is under 12 lbs. Thanks to Lowepro for making a non-sling bag option.

`I have been a professional photographer for 30+ years and found a discarded Lowe pack around 20 years ago. That pack has been used by everyone in my family including myself to haul a 4x5 field camera around. When my wife finally took possession of that old pack it was time for dad to have a new one.
I insisted on a Lowepro because I knew the quality would be there.
The Orion Daypack 200 is the perfect replacement.
I can carry my medium format camera and lens, a 35mm with lens, a strobe with battery pack and a light meter with room to spare, and that's just the bottom compartment. The tripod strap, mesh and outside zip pockets will truly be used all of the time.
The only one thing I would change is the addition of a mid-torso strap to hold the shoulder straps together.
I am certain my camera pack needs for the next 20 years have just been met.

I have my camera, lens, cards, batteries, and camera remote in the bottom of the bag and in the mesh compartment in the top part of the bag. I love this bag because it was the only backpack camera bag within my price range that protects my camera from rain. I love how I can customize the size of the compartments for my camera and different lenses. The zip close compartments with rain coverage was a main reason I bought this. I was looking for a camera bag to protect my camera, fit my 2 extra lenses in, and have the bag not look ugly, the lowepro Orion daypack 200 was the perfect buy for me.

This is a nicely built and lightweight backpack that should hold an average sized DSLR and a few lenses with no problem. It is too small for something like an 80-200/2.8 though.
The mesh side pockets are a bit tight for a water bottle, I would have liked them to be more roomy. A panel for pens and cards etc would be nice, but then that would just add to the price. Overall, I would say it is a good value for the price.
