Slip it onto the camera hot-shoe, connect any Quantum Turbo battery (not included), and shoot studio-quality flash photos non-stop, 24 hours a day without slowing down or overheating.

The Qflash uses parabolic reflectors for clean, even light spread, and the reflectors are removable for bare-bulb lighting. The flash can be used either on-camera on its own or on-camera as a master to other off-camera units.

The TRIO Basic includes many of the same functions as other Qflash models including: Manual, Auto, Auto-Fill, TTL, and Program (Pre-Sets) modes. The TRIO Basic has high-speed sync capabilities, and can be powered by any Quantum heavy-duty Turbo-series battery, which allows for almost unlimited rapid-fire, full-power flashes. It has a user-replaceable flash tube, a coiled 6' power cable, a removable reflector and includes 2 flat white UV diffusers. A wide variety of optional light modifiers are available. A power pack is not included.

Too loose on the camera. The LCD flashes on /off and is too amateurish looking .The Menu on the LCD is not user friendly. It is not Built well. However, the quality of the light is excellent. It is very powerful and works well with Quantum Turbo SC and Turbo 3. Needs some refinements to be ready for prime time.

Comments about Quantum Instruments Qflash TRIO QF8 Basic Flash for Nikon Cameras:

I have used Quantum flashes for years, i cover Red Carpet events, Movie premieres, Award Shows, Celebrity candids and Photo Shoots and these Quantum Flashes never let me down. i have 1 Quantum Trio, 1 Trio Basic and a Quantum T5D-R and 3 Quantum Turbo 3 battery packs and trust me i have never missed a shot.
This Quantum Trio Basic is a great tool but keep in mind this flash model don't have the built-in FreeXwire TTL radio, if you need the Wireless TTL, Sync and Shutter Control get the Quantum Trio QF8 for Nikon. The QF8 will send or receive commands to or from one or more remote QF8 or FreeXWire receivers connected to Qflashes. if you are a Pro-Photographer Quantum Flashes is the way to go.. and if you get any of these Qflashes don't forget to also order a Quantum Turbo 3 Battery Pack...

Comments about Quantum Instruments Qflash TRIO QF8 Basic Flash for Nikon Cameras:

For those not familiar with the Trio's capabilities, it is a hot shoe flash–just a bit more powerful than a 580EX II–that offers wireless control of other Quantum Qflashes. It can also trigger non-Quantum strobes with a Freewire receiver. It's a bit smaller than a 5d-R and requires Quantum external batteries; I tested it with a Turbo SC. Its modes include variations of QTTL, Auto, Manual and Advanced Multi. I haven't used the auto mode yet (which uses the light sensor on the front of the Qflashes), but I did experiment with QTTL and Advanced Multi quite a bit. The QTTL modes will let you set up lighting patterns in a variety of different ways: QTTL on just the Trio on-camera, QTTL with ratios between the Trio and remote Qflashes, and QTTL on just the remote flashes. While it's a little more complicated, I found Advanced Multi mode very useful. It will let you do any combination of QTTL, Auto, and Manual settings on the Trio and remote flashes. With all of these modes, you can adjust the settings of remote flashes right from the on-camera trio. There is also a very convenient Program mode that lets you store up to 8 different configurations. As a wedding photographer, I can see myself using these preprogrammed settings a lot. Manual settings for portraits, QTTL when either I or my subjects are moving quickly.

Gives off plenty of light for groups the autofill works great outdoors combined with my turbo 2x2 I never run out of power and my flash never over heats. This is a really good workhorse flash unit I plan to upgrade it with the wireless radio receiver.

A little pricey but worth it.
